Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene, who called Hank while he stared at blank computer page?

Answer: his sister

Hank was trying to write something new, as usual, when his sister called. This immediately went into a flashback of the last time Hank's father visited Los Angeles.

Hank's sister called Karen as well, and told her that their father had died.

Mark Margolis played Al Moody. Mark was previously on the HBO hit drama "Oz".
2. Finish Hank's quote. "Rehab is for _______."

Answer: quitters

He was sitting at a bar talking to a woman. She asked what were his thoughts on rehab, and that was his answer. The woman, named Trixie, was played by Judy Greer. Hank told her Trixie was the perfect name for a hooker.
3. In the flashback, Todd Carr told Hank that Tom and Katie changed the script's dialogue themselves.

Answer: True

Hank had taken his father to the set of "A Crazy Little Thing Called Love". When Hank heard the new dialogue, he said something vulgar about his anatomy and asked who changed the script. Todd said that Tom and Katie had done so in the make-up chair and Todd would do whatever Tom wanted. This scene seemed to be the beginning of Hank's downward spiral.
4. What was Trixie the hooker's real name?

Answer: Beatrice

After he'd snorted a couple lines of cocaine off of her body, Trixie made Hank realize she was actually a hooker. He had no money to pay her, which lead into another flashback.
5. In the dinner flashback, the discussion revolved around Karen's latest client. For whom was Karen creating a green home?

Answer: Bill

Hank told his dad that Bill was a "real dial tone" and said that he had a crush on Karen. Karen down played that, but Becca confirmed that he acted "all goofy" around her mom. Though Al asked if the man wanted his entire home the color green, I am sure this green meant energy efficient and environmentally sound.
6. Charlie came in and saved Hank from Trixie's pimp.

Answer: True

I guess Hank called him to bring cash, but before Charlie arrived Hank had to take some pimp related punishment. Trixie did tell the man not to hurt Hank's cute face.
7. In the flashback with Karen, what did she tell Hank was the way he made her feel?

Answer: that he thought she was lucky to have him

In the scene, Hank and Karen were in their bedroom. He professed to not be having an affair, but Karen pointed out that they hadn't been lovers in while either. He finally admitted he had thought about cheating, and asked her "who hasn't?" She replied that she never did, which revealed she had begun to think about it at some point recently.

She admitted as well that had been talking to Bill about her feelings. Hank asked angrily if she'd had sex with Bill, and she said that she had, as the talking and sex went hand in hand with her. I can relate, as a woman, to that emotion.
8. Who read Al Moody's letter to Hank?

Answer: Karen

Hank had the letter since the revelation of Bill and Karen's romance. He hadn't read it in all the time since then, so he handed it over to Karen and she read it aloud. In the letter Al wrote that he hadn't said "I love you" to Hank too much, so basically stating he hadn't said it enough.

He thought he'd be different from his own father, but it hadn't turned out that way. Al was sorry that he had slipped back into the old patterns he knew, and that he and Hank hadn't talked in while. Al said he missed Hank, and that Hank was a good kid.

He admitted in the letter that he had read Hank's books, but had been afraid to discuss their contents. He knew he resembled the father's in Hank's books, and maybe more than just resembled them. He ended the letter saying he knew he wasn't perfect, but he had loved Hank's mother.

He wanted Hank to know that he was there for him if Hank needed him, but sadly Hank let his father die without speaking to him.
9. Did Hank and Karen make love?

Answer: Yes

Emotions were high, though understated, in the scene following the reading of Al's letter. Karen gazed deeply into Hank's eyes, and then began kissing him. The two made love, and then she took him to airport to go back to New York for the funeral.
10. The purple flower so admired by Al Moody was finally given a name. What did Karen say the plant was called?

Answer: jacaranda tree

The jacaranda is a common flowering tree in the western USA. Hank told his dad it was a "purple flower", as he didn't have time to stop and smell the flowers and then identify their proper names online. So, after coming full circle, he asked Karen to name the flower for him. She named the entire plant and the episode ended.
