Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How much was collected by Ed's coworkers?

Answer: $100

He was being laid off because of cutbacks and his lack of seniority. He was well liked, though, and the guys took up a collection for him that reached $100.
2. What position did Sheriff Spencer tell Mulder the real estate agent had played in softball?

Answer: right field

The Sheriff was explaining that he was a simple nice guy. He wasn't very good, but didn't complain about being put in right field. As the Sheriff went on with his description of the suspect's life, Mulder talked to himself about there being nothing wrong with playing right field; that he had played right field. Ah, Mulder, letting his ego distract him for a moment.
3. Ed first saw the phrase "kill 'em all" at work. Where did he see it the next time?

Answer: ATM

He saw it on his machine at the mail sorting plant, and then later at the ATM. The suspect Mulder was called in on had seen the same phrase on the display panel in the elevator before his killing spree.
4. Where did Mrs. McRoberts see instructions to kill Mulder and the officer?

Answer: microwave

She was making breakfast as Mulder talked to her, and the microwave told her that he knew and she should kill them both. She attacked Mulder with a knife and Sheriff Spencer shot her.
5. What weapon did the television monitors at the department store prompt Ed to use?

Answer: rifle

They started flashing various violent images and then said "behind you". When he looked, he saw a rifle display and the monitors changed to read "do it".
6. What magazine did Mulder say arrived on the same day as the Lone Gunmen's newsletter?

Answer: Celebrity Skin

Mulder has a small weakness for pornography, and was apparently too busy with that magazine to read the Gunmen's newsletter and stay abreast of their conspiracy theories.
7. Who got sprayed with the pesticides?

Answer: Mulder

He was in a field at night and was sprayed by a covert helicopter. Scully tested the LSDM in the pesticides, though, and determined that they had no toxic effect on Mulder, even after "massive ingestion".
8. What explanation did they give for the blood tests?

Answer: cholesterol screening

Larry Winter only agreed to stop spraying and do blood tests if the tests wouldn't be linked to the effects of LSDM. The public explanation for the tests was the area's participation in an important cholesterol study.
9. Where did the bus driver tell Mulder he'd let Ed off the bus?

Answer: college

Ed threw a fit on the bus and insisted that he be let out immediately instead of waiting for the next stop.
10. Where was Ed when he started his shooting spree?

Answer: clock tower

Mulder ran up the stairs and talked him down by appealing to Ed's fear of blood. Just before Ed gave him the rifle, though, Ed saw some blood on Mulder's shirtsleeve and freaked out, so Mulder had to restrain him.
