1. What is the name of the NYPD detective working the Dr. Grissom case?

Answer: Horton

Detective Horton was working the case according to Special Agent Alex Krycek. Mulder and Krycek meet the detective when NYPD is attempting to arrest Cole after a pharmacy robbery. The actor playing Horton had a solid Brooklyn accent adding authenticity to the character.

2. Cole was avenging for the massacre that took place near what town?

Answer: Phu Bai

It's Phu Bai as said by Cole's former squad member. My Lai, the real massacre that this storyline is based on, is also mentioned by Mulder. The other two names are made up.

3. Dr. Girardi arrived at which train station?

Answer: Bronx Station

Scully tells Mulder that Girardi is arriving at the Bronx Station. The scene was actually filmed at the Vancouver Train Station and featured some local homeless as extras, one of whom started a fight with a film crew member.

4. When Agents Mulder and Krycek discover that Augustus Cole is being treated in a V.A. medical center, they head there. Where is this facility located?

Answer: North Orange, NJ

The location is disclosed in the standard "rolling out" subtitles as Mulder and Krycek are walking with Cole's doctor down the hallway. The scene was actually filmed in a service tunnel of a Vancouver hospital. The filming crew never returned to that place, mainly because it had no elevator and all equipment had to be carried up and down the stairs.

5. Mulder starts looking into the Grissom case after an anonymous tip which includes a circled newspaper article and what other item?

Answer: An audiotape

As Mulder unfolds the paper, an audiotape falls on the floor. Informant tips prompting Mulder to look into a given case were occurring more frequently in the first two seasons but ultimately this storyline began running out of steam (plus, Mulder's informants were often getting killed off).

The location is disclosed in the standard "rolling out" subtitles as Mulder arrives to this institution during his investigation.

There are nine of them: two older people, two children and five adults. One of the most terrifying and haunting shots in "The X-Files" if you ask me.

Krycek tells this to Mulder. The number of injuries is fairly consistent with the fact that Willig imagined two shooters firing at him using full-auto rifles. What's not consistent is how Mulder survived at the train station after experiencing a similar illusion of being shot by Cole.

9. What does Dr. Girardi see soldiers take from the opened Bible after Cole ties him and announces that he is to blame for the killings?

Answer: Scalpels

They take scalpels. One of the soldiers is the recently deceased Henry Willig. Nice touch by the writers, in my opinion.

It's Salvatore Matola based on the tip Mr. X gives to Mulder. The cafe Matola works at is called 2LAYS Cafe. I decided not to ask that because I only saw it, or the mirror image rather, for the first time in 25+ years of watching the show when I was preparing this quiz and decided it wouldn't be a fair question.
