Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dr. Temperance Brennan and Special Agent Seeley Booth are walking in the spacious Quiz Author Lounge of Funtrivia towards the set of remains found in a corner. Dr. Brennan looks at the body and turns puzzled to Agent Booth. "This one still has his flesh." she says. Booth starts awkwardly "Well, yeah...", before he is interrupted by Dr. Brennan who peels off her gloves and walks away exclaiming "I deal with bones, Booth, flesh is ___'s work, she's the coroner!". Whose name does Dr. Brennan say?

Answer: Cam

Agent Booth watches Dr. Brennan walk away as he notices Dr. Camille Saroyan (played by Tamara Taylor) arrive at the crime scene. After they greet each other, his very first question is "What can you tell me about this guy Cam?". She rests on her heels and as she examines the body, she lists loudly "Male, age indeterminate, but judging from the parts of him that aren't burnt, I'd say he's been a Funtrivia player for nearly ten years." A few hours later, back at the Jeffersonian Institute, Dr. Saroyan is in the middle of performing the autopsy of the victim, but her mind is otherwise occupied.

She is thinking of her adoptive daughter Michelle (Tiffany Hines), who will be visiting next week. Cam smiles as she remembers Michelle as a little girl, and how they reunited years later after the tragic death of Michelle's father. With Michelle now studying in university, Cam is once again living alone, but she muses that she is lucky to have Arastoo Vaziri (Pej Vahdat), the Jeffersonian intern, by her side.

Her spirits lifted, Dr. Saroyan returns to her work.
2. Special Agent Booth is in his office, bouncing a baseball against the wall and catching it. He thinks of Parker and looks at the photo of him in his office, when the phone rings and interrupts his thoughts. Who was Booth thinking about?

Answer: His son

Agent Booth (played by David Boreanaz) hangs up the phone, the information from Cam still fresh in his mind. "The autopsy showed that the victim had been a player on Funtrivia for nine years, Seeley. The quizzology report showed nothing special," she says. Booth's eyes return to the photo of his son, who moved to England with his mother when she got married.

Although he never married Parker's mother, Booth is still on good terms with her, and misses his son very much. His thoughts next fly to Bones, which is his nickname for Dr. Brennan, and their daughter Christine. Booth reminisces how his relationship to Bones evolved over the years, from colleagues and friends, all the way to parents and spouses.

He remembers the times she met his grandfather Hank and his brother Jared, and her good relationship with Parker. Smiling, he turns to his computer to do a search on the victim's ID.
3. Meanwhile, back at the lab, the body has been cleaned from its flesh and Dr. Brennan is examining the bones to find out what happened. Wendell Bray, one of the Jeffersonian interns, is assisting her in this case. Despite his and the other interns' bright minds, Dr. Brennan knows that none of them can match her previous assistant, who had to leave the Jeffersonian Institute when he was associated with a serial killer. What is the name of Dr. Brennan's previous assistant?

Answer: Zack Addy

Dr. Brennan (played by Emily Deschanel) is looking at the remains, her eyes focused on some old fractures in the face and upper body, when Wendell (Michael Grant Terry) suddenly says "I know what these fractures are! They are injuries that appear on people who engage in one vs. one fights... this player must have participated in the Funtrivia Knockout in the past!" Dr. Brennan purses her lips as she thinks it over. "You are right, Mr. Bray. Good work," she replies simply. "Maybe I was wrong. Although none of the current interns have Zack's intelligence, this is not the first time they have surprised me with their capabilities," she thinks to herself. Dr. Brennan stares at the bones without looking at them, her mind replaying her memories of Dr. Zack Addy (Eric Millegan).

She remembers the pride she had felt when he got his doctorate degree, her worry when he left to fight in Iraq and her happiness when he returned. She thinks of his goofy nature and his social ineptitude, which was even worse than her own.

When she recalls finding out that Zack had assisted the serial killer known as Gormogon, Dr. Brennan bites her lip to prevent tears from reaching her eyes. After taking a moment to recover herself, she resumes the examining of the bones.
4. Dr. Lance Sweets is in his office looking at the file Agent Booth sent him, which contains the information of the body that has finally has been identified. The file reads "Gil_Galad, long-time Funtrivia member, occasional author, participates in games." Lance muses that the man must have been single, and then he remembers that he hasn't dated much himself since he broke up with his long-time former girlfriend. Is the name of Lance's former girlfriend Daisy Wick?

Answer: Yes

Dr. Sweets (played by John Francis Daley) drums his fingers on the edge of his office as he goes over the man's quizzes, in an attempt to understand him better. Several hours later, he has built a profile and goes to Agent Booth to discuss his conclusions and suggest what Booth's next step should be. Upon returning to his office, Lance's thoughts return to Daisy Wick (Carla Gallo), and the relationship they had had for nearly four years.

The first memory that comes to Lance's mind is the time Daisy accepted his proposal, and how they cancelled their engagement after she followed Dr. Brennan to the Maluku Islands for research.

While they rekindled their relationship after she returned, he broke up with her again two years later and then dated very briefly Agent Olivia Sparling, but their romance "lacked fireworks", as she told him. Lance sighs and pulls himself out of his reverie, redirecting his attention to the case.
5. Having finished the examination of the bones, Dr. Brennan is in her office when a very happy Agent Booth walks in. "Bones, Sweets stopped by my office. He said our guy was currently participating in an activity in the Authors' Lounge. He suggested that we go undercover to gain other authors' trust before talking to them," he says with a smile, prompting Dr. Brennan to shout happily. What are the aliases Brennan and Booth use when they go undercover during a case?

Answer: Buck and Wanda

Brennan and Booth visit the Lounge and join a challenge to get acquainted with some authors. After asking around, they find out that Gil_Galad was in the Author Masterclass, and decide to get closer to his teammates (skunkee, CmrdK, reedy and sally0malley) in order to find out what happened to Gil.

Unfortunately, their search reaches an impasse since they only get one useful comment. "Gil always delivered his quizzes at the last day of the deadline. Always late, that one," the team mentor, skunkee, says. Since Brennan and Booth joined a Lounge challenge, they submit their very own quizzes. Booth's quiz goes online, but Brennan's doesn't because the only source she used was herself.

She proclaims that she enjoyed their other undercover missions more, which makes Booth laugh and add "Remember when we were in that circus, Bones? When we had to do our act, I was worried one of the knives would hit you." Brennan smiles at him, "I was not worried for a moment," she replies.

Their conversation then turns to the time they had joined a bowling team to catch a killer, at the end of which Brennan had informed Booth that she was pregnant. Back in the present, the two kiss and resume the investigation.
6. Dr. Jack Hodgins, the entomologist of the team, is standing over a counter where he has placed several bugs. He leans over them and squints at them, trying to understand which sub-species they belong to. A few moments later his face splits into a broad smile, and he throws his arms in the air, because he knows he has just made the discovery which will crack the case. Which self-proclaimed title does Dr. Hodgins shout?

Answer: "King of the Lab!"

Dr. Saroyan walks into Dr. Hodgins' office, anxious to hear his news. "Dr. Hodgins, what do you have for me," she asks. He shows her some sort of beetle, and she shakes her head to signify she doesn't understand him, as is so often the case. Dr. Hodgins takes the opening and with almost childish joy he says "Coleopteron Quizzius, simply known as the author's bug.

This little guy was attracted to Gil_Galad because he was on fire." "I know he was on fire," she replies, "I examined the body myself." "No no, I mean he was on fire as an author," Dr. Hodgins corrects her. Dr. Saroyan looks at him dumbfounded before she says shocked, "You mean he caught on fire literally because he was on fire as an author? That makes no scientific sense!" He waves his hand dismissively and announces that Angela will prove his theory when she recreates the scene on the computer. Only moments later, Jack Hodgins walks in to his wife's spacious office, but stops on his tracks when he sees her looking at her latest painting.

Not wanting to disturb Angela, Hodgins lingers on the doorway, thinking that Angie looks as beautiful as the day they met. He brings to mind their first date, and how they eventually got together after he and Dr. Brennan were saved from the Gravedigger. Hodgins remembers how their original wedding ceremony was interrupted, and how after going through a break-up, they ended up marrying in a jail cell, of all places. His vision focuses on Angie once again, only to realize that she is now looking at him, with a knowing smile on her lips.
7. Angela Montenegro is looking at her latest painting when she hears someone at the doorway of her office. She notices her husband looking in her direction, with his eyes lost in some daydream. Angela smiles as she waits for Hodgins to return to the present. As soon as he notices her, he walks over and kisses her before turning to the painting and frowning. "Isn't that one of your father's guitars," he asks. Which famous bearded guitarist is Angela's father on "Bones"?

Answer: Billy Gibbons

Hodgins' attention turns back to Angela and he relays to her his theory of how Gil_Galad caught on fire. "I don't know honey..." she says hesitantly, "I'll run your scenario when I'm done with the other ones, OK?" He nods and walks away as Angela turns to her computer system. As she enters the parameters for the one of the scenarios, Angela's eyes turn fleetingly to the painting she was looking at earlier.

Her father's favorite guitar, Pearly Gates, looks back at her from the canvas, and Angela wonders what on Earth her father was thinking when he middle named his daughter after a guitar. Of course, Angela mused, that was nothing compared to her first name, which she changed legally as soon as she turned 18, and which she had divulged to almost no-one.

Her father, Billy Gibbons, guitarist of ZZ Top, always had a way with unusual names, because he had wanted to name her baby Staccato Mamba. Luckily, logic had prevailed after Hodgins was coerced into getting a tattoo of her father's face, and their son was named Michael. Angela laughs quietly, and she continues her work.
8. Although she didn't need an excuse to re-examine the bones, Dr. Temperance Brennan had eagerly gone back to it when she heard of Dr. Hodgins' theory. As she looks at the bones again, Dr. Brennan realizes the damage from the fire is localized, indicating several different ignition points. Reprimanding herself for missing this clue, she recovers when she recognizes it would be a good clue to incorporate in her first novel. Is it true that Dr. Brennan is a first-time writer?

Answer: No

As soon as she is done re-examining the bones, Dr. Brennan walks to Angela's office. She explains to Angela her newest finding and asks her to incorporate it in her scenarios. "Oh sweetie, why do you and Hodgins have to make my work more difficult for me," her best friend complains as she starts to amend her calculations. Dr. Brennan looks somewhat apologetically at Angela, and turns on her heels to return to her own office. She has hardly walked more than two steps when Angela's voice reaches her, asking "Hey Brennan, you didn't tell me, to whom will you dedicate your latest book?" Temperance stands silent for a moment, before she replies quietly, "My parents." Angela stops her work, curious at this piece of news, and then she smiles encouragingly. Temperance nods and turns to leave again. "Of course," she thinks to herself, "Angela knows my family history." Indeed, Angela knows just how much Temperance had been pained by her mother, Christine's, untimely death.

She also knows how angry Temperance has been at Max, her father, for abandoning her and her brother Russ. "It took many years to forgive him, but he's a part of my life now; and he adores Christine," Brennan muses as her thoughts fly to her daughter.
9. The team has gathered in Angela's office, and they're all quiet after the striking news she just told them. "No foul play," Booth asks, somewhat surprised. "No need to get a hold of Miss Julian then, right," Cam asks. "Not unless you've missed being called ______," Hodgins replies. What name does the prosecutor, Caroline Julian, often uses to address the members of Dr. Brennan's team?

Answer: Cherie

"That's right, no foul play," Angela confirms. "As I showed you in the reenactment, several different fires ignited on the victim almost simultaneously. I did a little research, and it seems many of the authors in the Lounge are on a quiz writing spree.

Their quizzes are hot news, and with so many authors, it was only a matter of time until the collective heat became a source of fire. Gil_Galad was probably just at the wrong place at the wrong time," she finishes her explanation. The team is still quiet, except Sweets, who comments "Fascinating phenomenon, both socially and scientifically." "Alright then, I'll inform Caroline," Booth says. Before he departs, the gang shares a rare moment of silence, each of them lost in a personal memory of Caroline Julian, calling them 'Cherie' and bossing them around as usual.

Despite her attitude, though, they know she is an excellent prosecutor, who often gives them advice when legal matters arise on a case and subsequently uses the evidence they gather to prosecute.

As they snap out of their recollections, one by one they return to their offices, and their daily routine.
10. Dr. Temperance Brennan and Special Agent Seeley Booth are walking towards the entrance of a bar. Dr. Brennan looks in and turns to Agent Booth. "They're all here already," she says. Booth nods and they both enter to celebrate with their friends after solving yet another case. What is the name of the bar where their team often gathers to celebrate, making it practically an institution?

Answer: Founding Fathers

As Dr. Brennan and Agent Booth walk into the Founding Fathers, their friends notice their arrival and cheer them. They settle down at their usual booth, and discuss the details of their latest case. When their orders arrive, they all raise their glasses to a toast. "Cheers," some of them shout. "To quiz writing," Booth says, holding his own glass in the air. "Did I tell you all about my excellent quiz? I'm a quiz author now! How about you, Bones," he nudges her teasingly. "I am one too," Brennan replies and takes a sip before continuing solemnly, "After I cited some sources other than myself, I resubmitted and my quiz went online.

It was marked as Editor's Choice." Booth's eyes widen and he coughs in the middle of a sip. "No need to be so surprised," Brennan says dryly, "I am a genius, of course I would do well at quiz authoring." The gang laughs as Brennan once again displays a lack of temperance, when their beepers suddenly go off.

They drain their glasses, and rise from their positions, ready to work their new case.
