Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who played Clare Arnold?

Answer: Kathleen Robertson

Kathleen Robertson portrayed the character of Clare from seasons four through seven of "90210". The character was originally a bit part, introduced in season four's "Change Partners" and was a recurring role for the rest of that season. Clare became a regular character in season five, and was listed as a starring role throughout seasons six and seven.
2. Where did Clare's father work?

Answer: the University

Clare's father was Arnold Arnold, chancellor of California University. That was how Clare met the main characters. Brandon was on the Chancellor's task force for improving education, and he met Clare when she accompanied her father to one of the task force's events.
3. Who was Clare never interested in?

Answer: Dylan

Clare had a major crush on Brandon during the fourth season. She tricked him into accompanying her to the Prom, and after he found out that her father wouldn't have a problem with it, Brandon considered getting together with Clare. He abandoned that, however, when Kelly became interested in him.

Clare dated David for most of the fifth season, after he broke up with Donna. Clare had already moved into the beach apartment with Donna and Kelly, and met David in one of her classes, not knowing that he had a history with Donna.

Clare and Steve got together in the sixth season, after she tutored him in math. Though they were constantly fighting, they stayed together for the rest of Clare's time on the show, up until the end of the seventh season.
4. Clare was the same age as the main characters (i.e. Brandon, Kelly, Donna and Steve).

Answer: False

Like David, Clare was a year younger than the other characters. David had graduated high school a year early in order to catch up to the others. Clare was a senior in high school when she first met Brandon and Kelly when they were college freshmen, but at the beginning of the next school year, she enrolled in California University as a sophomore because of her Advanced Placement credits, putting her in the same year as all the others.
5. Clare had a few mishaps involving which of these items?

Answer: handcuffs

In the fourth season, in an attempt to entice Brandon, Clare handcuffed herself to his bed. Her plan backfired when he simply left the room, leaving her handcuffed there.

In the fifth season, David found the handcuffs in Clare's bedroom and cuffed himself to her bed as a surprise for her, not knowing that she had misplaced the key. While he was stuck there, Clare's father came over to the apartment because he wanted to see where she was living. They managed to cover David up and get a locksmith to come over and free him later.

In the sixth season, Clare and Steve were spending the night in a hotel at the beginning of their relationship, and Steve found handcuffs in the closet. They had been left behind by some policemen who had attended a conference at the hotel, but he assumed that they were Clare's because he'd heard her other handcuff stories, and this led to a big fight between them.
6. What day did Clare feel was the saddest day of the year?

Answer: Mother's Day

Clare always dreaded Mother's Day because her mother had died when she was young. The seventh season had an episode particularly focused on Mother's Day, entitled simply "Mother's Day". In this episode, Steve tried to help Clare deal with her sadness, but she kept picking fights with him.

He suggested that Clare spend Mother's Day with her father, so that they could talk about her mom, but Clare said that her father hated to talk about her. So Steve went over to the Chancellor's house and learned that that wasn't true; Clare's father had moved on from his wife's death, as much as possible, and that he loved to look at pictures of her and talk about her. Steve took an album of photos of Clare's mother from her father's house and spent the day with her, letting her talk about her mother.
7. Did Clare appear on "College Jeopardy!"?

Answer: no

In the fifth season, Clare and Brandon were competing for a spot on the college edition of the game show "Jeopardy!". They got extremely competitive, but ended up convincing Andrea to go for the California University slot on the show. Andrea made it on the show, and although it was not shown, it was implied that she won the game.
8. In the sixth season, an old friend of Clare's came back into her life and wanted to be with her. Which of the following describes that old friend?

Answer: he was a prince

The prince's name was Carl, and he and Clare used to spend time together when they were little, because their mothers were best friends. Carl first appeared in season six's "The Big Hurt". Clare never really liked him when they were young, but he won her over and convinced her that he wasn't a spoiled brat anymore.

At this time Clare was dating Steve, and he and Carl became fast friends. At the end of the season, Carl admitted to Steve that he was in love with Clare and asked Steve to let Clare choose between them. Clare got angry that Steve was willing to give her up, but she realized that she really loved him, so she turned down the prince and went back to Steve.
9. In the seventh season, Clare entered a talent show at California University. Which of these was her 'talent'?

Answer: singing

The KEG and Alpha houses were hosting a talent show in the episode "The Long Goodbye". Steve convinced Clare to perform, telling her not to be afraid to make a fool of herself. She decided she was going to sing the song "Devoted to You" because her mom used to sing it to her when she was very young.

After Steve heard Clare's singing voice, he tried to talk her out of performing. After she told him the story of how she was supposed to sing that song in a fourth grade talent show, but chickened out, and then never got a chance to sing it for her mom again before she died, Steve supported her and encouraged her to go through with the performance.

It started out terribly, but Clare recovered, and took Steve's advice to sing from the heart, and she gave a pretty good rendition of the song.
10. Where did Clare go after graduating from university?

Answer: Paris

The gang graduated from college in the seventh season finale, "Graduation Day (Parts 1 and 2)". A couple of episode's previously, the Chancellor had accepted a job in Paris, and Clare finally decided to go with him, because she felt that she couldn't be so far away from the only family she had left.

She asked Steve to come with them, but he said he also couldn't be away from his family and friends. Clare moved away with her father, ending her relationship with Steve.
