Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Around what was the Kingdom built?

Answer: A school

The Kingdom was introduced in season 7, episode 2 of "The Walking Dead." With over fifty people, the Kingdom was built up around a school in or near Washington, D.C., possibly some kind of a vocational high school that had an agricultural program. The old school theater served as the king's throne room, while the cafeteria was used for common meals.
2. Which of these members of the Kingdom is NOT properly paired with a role he or she played in the Kingdom?

Answer: Henry, Head of the Knights

When the Kingdom was first introduced, Ezekiel served as the king and ruler of the community, while Jerry was his personal steward and bodyguard. Jerry could often be seen standing alongside Ezekiel's throne. Nabila was the head gardener in the Kingdom and was shown discussing a problem of blight in the gardens with the king.

She eventually married Jerry, and they had several children together. Henry was never head of the knights. When Henry grew up to be a teenager, he left the Kingdom to train to be a blacksmith at the Hilltop.
3. Which of the following was NOT a knight/soldier of the Kingdom?

Answer: Rosita

Rosita was a soldier for Alexandria, not for the Kingdom. Richard appeared to be the head of the knights, or at least a high-ranking member of the guard, when he was first introduced on the show. Benjamin was a young knight of the Kingdom, an older teenager who had lost both his parents.

He was shot and killed by a Savior. Dianne was a well-trained archer and soldier of the Kingdom and could often be seen visiting and assisting at the Hilltop as well.
4. Which Savior was in charge of making collections from the Kingdom?

Answer: Gavin

Gavin seemed to be one of the fairer members of the Saviors, doing his job with hope of maintaining the peace and calling his men into line when they got out of line. He was eventually killed by Henry.

Simon collected from the Hilltop. Alpha was a Whisperer, not a Savior. Arat collected from the community that eventually fled to Oceanside.
5. What two members of Rick's group were discovered by Kingdom guards and brought to the community?

Answer: Carol and Morgan

Carol left Alexandria only to be shot by a Savior. Morgan, who had gone in search of her, rescued her, but she was badly wounded and in need of medical care. The knights of the Kingdom found her and took her back on a cart, and she was given treatment and shown the wonders of the Kingdom, to which she responded, "I have no idea what's going on in the most wonderful way."
6. What member of the Kingdom wanted the Kingdom to go to war with the Saviors and kept trying to force it into doing so?

Answer: Richard

Richard felt the Kingdom needed to free itself of its extortioners by fighting them head on. Ezekiel, on the other hand, wanted to pay the price to maintain the peace, while keeping the extortion secret from his people to maintain a veneer of security. Richard first tried to get Carol killed by the Saviors to incite Ezekiel to fight, but Daryl intervened. Then Richard tried to get himself killed to become a martyr and inspire the Kingdom to go to war, but Benjamin ended up getting killed instead.
7. Which of the following characters is NOT properly matched with a role he or she played in the Kingdom?

Answer: Kurt, Court Jester

Carol eventually became queen of the Kingdom when she married Ezekiel, and together they adopted Henry, whom Ezekiel referred to as "Prince Henry." Shiva was Ezekiel's trained pet tiger who served as his guard and eventually saved his life. Kurt was the community medic, and he also served as a medic for the combined militia of the four communities.

He could be seen working at the Hilltop during the Saviors attack. He died in Season 8, episode 13, "Do Not Send Us Astray," after being bit by a reanimated Tobin. If anyone played a role as court jester, Jerry would most nearly fit the description.
8. The Kingdom was the only member of the four coalition communities to have kept the same leader throughout its existence.

Answer: True

The communities of Alexandria, Oceanside, Hilltop, and the Kingdom came together to form a militia to fight they Saviors, and they eventually signed a charter to form a coalition. The Kingdom was the only one of the four coalition communities to have kept a single primary leader (Ezekiel) throughout the entire course of its existence. (Carol became a co-leader, but the Kingdom never lost Ezekiel.)

The other communities lost and changed rulers. In Alexandria, Rick disappeared and a council was formed with Michonne as a primary member. At the Hilltop, Maggie took over from Gregory, and then Tara and Jesus took over from her when she left. At Oceanside, Natania was killed and Cyndie took over, followed later by Rachel. Ezekiel, however, ruled the Kingdom from its creation to its collapse.
9. Which of the following features did the Kingdom NOT possess?

Answer: A pillory for punishing criminals

In "The Well," a choir is shown signing accompanied by violins and other instruments. The actual choir that performed for the episode was from Georgia State University's School of Music. The Kingdom periodically showed movies in its theater using a projector, and Ezekiel went on a mission to replace the bulb when it burned out.

A pillory is a medieval device with a wood framework and holes for a person's head and hands to be used for public humiliation as a form of punishment. The Kingdom is not shown to have such a device. Nor do they seem to have a jail cell as do Alexandria and the Hilltop. It's unclear what they do to deal with criminal activity, or if they simply don't experience any crime.
10. What destroyed the Kingdom?

Answer: A failed boiler, fire, and rot

Henry goes to the Hilltop to become a blacksmith apprentice so he can fix the pipes and boiler, but the boiler eventually breaks and fires spread. The rot that has been slowly creeping across the Kingdom spreads as well. The buildings become uninhabitable, and the people pack up and make a winter trek to the Hilltop to start anew.
