Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was Aeris/Aerith's boyfriend?

Answer: Zack

This is found out in the Gongaga Village in Disc 1. For obvious reasons, you can't take Aeris there after Disc 1. The first hint about Zack is revealed while Aeris and Cloud are talking in the park near Wall Market, where Aeris exclaims that Cloud reminded her of her first boyfriend.

This was revealed later in the game to be Zack. He gave his life saving Cloud, after they were both experimented on in Professor Gast's laboratory, just like Vincent.
2. Hojo has a son, believe it or not. What's his name?

Answer: Sephiroth

This is found out at the end of Disc 2, where Cloud confronts Hojo for the last time. He is powering up the Mako Cannon so he can give his son, Sephiroth, a burst of energy. After this, battle starts with him (Hojo, not Sephiroth). He isn't very powerful, but he can put people in multiple statuses, including sleep and poison. He morphs into two different forms, each one more annoying than the last one, so be prepared for a long battle!

It is also revealed later in the game that Hojo isn't Sephiroth's true father. Professor Gast is his biological father.
3. How do you get Tifa's ultimate Limit Break, 'My Final Heaven'?

Answer: Play her Piano in Nibelheim on Disc 3

With Tifa on your team, the buttons you need to press are: Cross, Square, Triangle, (R1 and Traingle), (R1 and Square), Cross, Square, Triangle, (R1 and Cross), Circle, Cross, Square, Cross. In that order. If you successfully play this tune, Zangan will appear, as if out of nowhere, and say a few words with a flashback included. After this, he'll give Tifa her Limit Break, and disappear as suddenly as he came!

You can also play the Cosmo Canyon tune on Tifa's piano if you wish. You only get 1 gil for it, but hey, why not?
4. What is the name of Sephiroth's sword?

Answer: Masamune

It is rumored that only Sephiroth can use this sword. However, later in the game, it is revealed that Cloud overpowered Sephiroth WITH his sword, so that rumor is dispelled almost as quickly as it popped up! In the Gold Saucer, you can win replicas of the Masamune which have no apparent use.

They can be sold for a pitiful 25 gil if you wish, but other than that, there isn't really much point in even having them!
5. What is the maximum amount of MP a character can have in the game?

Answer: 9,999

If a character has 9,999 HP, and the HP/MP materia equipped, s/he will have 9,999 MP, but no more than 999 HP. This is a very risky materia to use, especially when 9,999 MP just isn't necessary! As far as I know, personally, there is no effective use of this materia, because you would run out of health too quickly to use it properly. If you could switch them back and forth during battle it would be better, but you can't!
6. There are many miss spelt things in "Final Fantasy VII". Which if these is NOT one of them?

Answer: Crab Nut instead of Carob Nut

Carob Nuts are rare nuts which are required to create Black Chocobos. You can acquire them in two relatively easy ways. One way is to get 500 GP at the Gold Saucer, and then trade them in at the wonder Square. The other way is by mugging or killing the rare Vlakorados, found on the green patches of grass on the Icicle continent.

Gysahl Greens are also used for Chocobos, in this case, feeding, not breeding. The Pile Banger is one of Barret's more powerful weapons. It can be found in the Shinra Building, but you can't get it until the end of Disc 2, because the woman at the counter will yell at you if you try beforehand. The 'Luck Plus' Materia is found in the Temple of the Ancients, and is quite difficult to get to.
7. How many islands in the game actually have their own name?

Answer: 3

These Islands are Cactus Island, Round Island and Goblin Island. Round Island is where you find the infamous 'Knight of the Round' Materia, and requires a golden Chocobo to even get there. Cactus island is home to the Cactuars, which can be morphed into Tetra Elementals, which, like their name suggests, allows the holder to absorb four elements, namely Fire, Ice, Electricity and Earth. Goblin Island is home to, well, Goblins! They hold precious Zeio Nuts, necessary for acquiring a golden chocobo, and can also teach the Enemy Skill 'Goblin Punch', which is pretty much just a reserve for an ordinary attack.
8. It's big. It's scary. It lives in Corel Desert and uses Aqualung. What is it?

Answer: A Harpy

Ruby Weapon may be big, scary and live in Corel desert (in Disc 3 only), but it certainly does NOT use Aqualung! Jenova: LIFE is big, scary and uses Aqualung, but doesn't live in Corel Desert. The Harpy, however, has all of these qualities, although you may argue about the 'scary' part.

A Deenglow has absolutely none of these qualities: it's small, it's pathetic, it lives in the Train Graveyard, and sometimes uses Ice, not Aqualung.
9. In total, how many Limit Breaks are there in the whole of "Final Fantasy VII"?

Answer: 55

These Limit Breaks are:

Cloud:
Level 1: Braver, Cross Slash
Level 2: Blade Beam, Climhazzard
Level 3: Meteorain, Finishing Touch
Level 4: Omnislash

Tifa:
Level 1: Beat Rush, Somersault
Level 2: Waterkick, Meteodrive
Level 3: Dolphin Blow, Meteor Strike
Level 4: My Final Heaven

Barret:
Level 1: Big Shot, Mindblow
Level 2: Grenade Bomb, Hammerblow
Level 3: Satellite Beam, Ungarmax
Level 4: Catastrophe

Aeris:
Level 1: Healing Wind, Seal Evil
Level 2: Breath of the Earth. Fury Brand
Level 3: Planet Protector, Pulse of Life
Level 4: Great Gospel

Red XIII:
Level 1: Sled Fang, Lunatic High
Level 2: Blood Fang, Stardust Ray
Level 3: Earth Rave, Howling Moon
Level 4: Cosmo Memory

Yuffie:
Level 1: Greased Lightning, Clear Tranquil
Level 2: Landscaper, Bloodfest
Level 3: Gauntlet, Doom of the Living
Level 4: All Creation

Cait Sith:
Level 1: Dice
Level 2: Slot

Vincent:
Level 1: Galian Beast
Level 2: Death Gigas
Level 3: Hellmasker
Level 4: Chaos

Cid:
Level 1: Boost Jump, Dynamite
Level 2: Hyper Jump, Dragon
Level 3: Dragon Dive, Big Brawl
Level 4: Highwind

All these together makes 55 Limit Breaks!
10. How much HP does an Eagle Gun have?

Answer: 17,000

You can only fight an Eagle Gun on the train to Corel during the Huge Materia retrieving Mission. Their attacks are pretty basic, but due to the limited time you have to reach the end of the train, they can sometimes be a slight challenge, along with the Wolfmeisters you have to fight on the train too, which also have considerably high HP. With a LOT of patience, you can steal a Warrior Bangle from the Eagle Gun, although this isn't advised, due to the time limit.
11. The Materia Keeper in Mount Nibel will teach you the Enemy Skill Trine. However, there is one other monster in "Final Fantasy VII" that looks a lot like it, and will also teach you Trine if you missed this opportunity. What is this monster?

Answer: Stilva

The Stilva is closely related to the Materia Keeper, and more difficult to defeat, in my opinion. It also uses Magic Breath, which can kill over 2,000 HP if you don't have the necessary armor equipped! Trine only does electrical damage, and is less powerful, but it still a very good deal, because it only costs 20 MP, and is as powerful as Bolt 3 (which costs 52 MP, comparatively)!

Note: You can also learn Trine from Godo, Yuffie's father, if you missed this opportunity as well.
12. There's a monster in "Final Fantasy VII" with the same name as an American car company. Which one?

Answer: Corvette

You can find Corvettes in the tunnel just before the Underwater Reactor. Although they look nothing like the cars, it is arguable about the handling capabilities. All these fish do is spin around and crash into things! They can put you in the fury status (again, like the cars), which although it can be very useful, can also put you in danger, so watch out!
13. How many weapons are there in the game that can't be sold?

Answer: 4

These 4 weapons are the Buster Sword, the Gatling Gun, the Silver Barrette and the Seraph Comb. The Buster Sword and The Gatling Gun are Initial equippings, so you can't sell these, because of the sentimental value. The Seraph Comb is one of Red XIII's Weapons, which was a gift from his father, so obviously this one can't be sold. You can sell every other weapon in the game, surprisingly, although it would seem quite foolish to sell some weapons (e.g. the ultimate weapons).
14. There was a hidden character who was taken out of the game at the very last minute. What was his name?

Answer: Boxer

Boxer was meant to be a friendly version of the Goblins that you find on Goblin Island. He was taken out of the game because he had no practical use. As there are no weapons that he could use, he obviously wasn't a serious thought. Another rumor is that you can sometimes see his face on the saved game files when you look through the memory card browser...

15. Which of these characters do you NOT see in Midgar on Disc 1?

Answer: Sephiroth

You don't actually SEE Sephiroth, you only see his sword impaled in President Shinra. You can see both Cait Sith and Mukki in the Honey Bee Inn if you play correctly. Sephiroth killed President Shinra to prevent him from having the Promised Land, which would stop Sephiroth becoming one with the planet.
16. Which of these weapons is the most powerful?

Answer: Nail Bat

The Long Barrel R and the Mop have 66 attack, and the Super Ball has 68 attack, but Cloud's Nail Bat has 70! This weapon isn't very useful, as it doesn't have any materia slots or growth, but it is one of the most powerful weapons you'll find for a while. Why is it called a Nail Bat, you ask? Well, that's simple: It's a baseball bat with nails in it. Square had obviously run out of ideas when they came to designing and naming this weapon!
17. Speaking of Weapons, does the Ultima Weapon do anything that no other weapon does?

Answer: Yes

There are two things that are unique to the Ultima Weapon. The first is the fact that the weapon is more powerful when the holder (namely Cloud) is healthier. Basically, the more health Cloud has, the more powerful this weapon is. The second goes in conjunction with the first.

The Ultima Weapon has the amazing ability to change color depending on how healthy Cloud is. The colors can go from a contrasting blue and white to just a dull blue. The power change in the Ultima Weapon is very extreme. He can easily kill 9,999 HP damage when at full health, but he's lucky if he kills 100 HP damage with less than 2% of his health!
18. White Wind removes the effects of 'Death Force'.

Answer: True

Annoyingly, White Wind cancels out some good statuses as well as bad ones. If you use 'Death Force' to stop yourself being killed when a Master Tonberry stabs you, make sure you top it up if you use 'White Wind' to counter the damage from its 'Eveyone's Grudge'!
19. Which of these is NOT one of Vincent's Limit Break attacks?

Answer: Chaos

'Chaos' is the Limit Break itself. It is Vincent's Level 4 Limit Break (as shown earlier in the quiz), and you obtain it by going into the cave behind the waterfall on Disc 2 or 3. You will also receive the Death Penalty, Vincent's ultimate weapon, by doing this.
20. What is the only boss in the game that you can DEFEAT more than once?

Answer: Proud Clod

You may be able to fight Ultimate Weapon more than once, but you can only defeat it once, as it flies away every other time. You fight the Proud Clod in Midgar at the end of Disc 2, and you can also fight it in the Special Round at the Battle Arena in the Gold Saucer. It isn't particularly difficult either time, as long as you heal yourself when needed, and just keep attacking!

Note: The Midgar Zolom can also be argued as a boss that can be defeated more than once. I have discounted this, due to the simple fact that you can escape from it, and you can't do this with any 'true' boss.

I hope you have enjoyed this quiz! =D
