Answer: Dying Light

Originally planned to be released on PlayStation 3 and XBox One, "Dying Light" was one of the first big hits for the XBox One in 2015. As explained by the game's lead designer Maciej Binkowski, daytime in "Dying Light" lasts about 64 minutes followed by seven minutes of nighttime. During the day the undead are slow and easily avoided so during this time players can obtain supplies and set traps whereas at nighttime the goal is simply to stay alive and eliminate as many of the frenetic undead as possible.

As referenced by many reviewers, "Screamride" had a similar premise to the "RollerCoaster Tycoon" series that debuted in 1999. In addition to the 'Engineer Mode' in which players develop rides, "Screamride" also has 'ScreamRider' and 'Demolition Expert' modes with different objectives.

Answer: Ori and the Blind Forest

Similar to the fairy Navi in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time", Ori is assisted by a spirit named Sein who helps guide him on his quest to restore the forest's three main elements called Waters, Winds, and Warmth. The main villain of "Ori and the Blind Forest" is an owl called Kuro whose offspring were killed when Ori unintentionally released light from the Spirit Tree.

The game's developers stated that they drew inspiration from the stories of "The Lion King" and "The Iron Giant" and reviewers of the game found that its mechanics were similar to the "Rayman" and "Metroid" series.

Answer: Mortal Kombat X

Including downloadable content, "Mortal Kombat X" featured more than 30 playable characters including new additions like Alien, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, and Predator. The main appeal of the "Mortal Kombat" series has been the one on one fighting between two players or against an AI controlled opponent but in time the series has introduced a story mode, a tower mode with difficult challenges, and online specific team modes.

In addition to being released on XBox One, Mortal Kombat X also had a successful release on PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.

The developers behind "Project CARS" wanted to differentiate it from other racing series like "Gran Turismo" and "Forza Motorsport" so rather than earning cars and tracks players begin the game with access to all tracks and cars. Prior to "Project CARS", Slighty Mad Studios had developed two games in the "Need for Speed" racing series.

As compared to the PlayStation 4 version of the game the XBox One edition of "Project CARS" suffered from frame rate drops and in general it received poorer reviews.

Answer: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

"The Witcher" series of games was based on the fantasy novels of Andrzej Sapkowski whose first entry in the series in 1990 was also called "The Witcher". At the time of its release in 2015 "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was considered one of the largest games released on consoles with an estimated completion time for the main story and side quests of 100 hours.

The game was lauded for its story and as an open world success that utilized elements of combat and exploration.

Tim and Chris Stamper founded Rare in 1985 and it was originally a subdivision of Ultimate Play the Game which they had founded in 1982. The first seven games of Rare Replay, originally released between 1983 and 1985, were developed under Ultimate Play the Game. From 1994 to 2001 Rare and Nintendo had an exclusive partnership during which hit games (notably absent from "Rare Replay") like "Donkey Kong Country", "Goldeneye", and "Diddy Kong Racing" were released.

In 2002 Rare was acquired by Microsoft and the last seven games on "Rare Replay" were originally released for the XBox 360.

Answer: Metal Gear Solid

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" takes place in 1984 and the main character is voiced by renown actor Keifer Sutherland. The game was a multi-platform release as it was also available on PlayStation 4, XBox 360, PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Windows.

The game takes place in Afghanistan and in the war-torn nations of Angola and Zaire and it follows Venom Snake's revenge rampage and it features a plot twist whereby a clandestine new model of the Metal Gear tanks are being developed.

The design of Cortana was based on the Egyptian queen Nefertiti and the character first appeared in the 2001 game "Halo: Combat Evolved". Cortana was designed by cloning the brain of Dr. Catherine Halsey who was the creator of the SPARTAN Project. At the beginning of "Halo 5: Guardians" it is believed that Cortana has been destroyed but eventually she is located by the Blue Team led by Master Chief and by the game's end it is unclear what Cortana's main objective is.

The game and overall "Fallout" series is notable for its nonlinear gameplay, switching between first and third person perspectives, building of settlements, trading and acquiring of items, and combat survival elements.
