Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This game wasn't necessarily seen on shelves, but every owner of the system possessed a copy of it. Excluding those in Japanese systems, which game was initially launched with the system?

Answer: Wii Sports

"Wii Sports" was one of the most popular launch games, probably because players automatically obtained a copy when they purchased the system. The game allowed players to use their customizable Miis to play in one of five sports. These included Boxing, Tennis, Golf, Bowling, and Baseball. Players could earn points in order to gain a 'Pro' status or simply use a training simulator. All scores were logged to Mii characters, but players could also use a guest Mii.
2. What is the subtitle of the "Legend of Zelda" game released on the Wii launch?

Answer: Twilight Princess

Perhaps the longest-awaited launch title in Nintendo history, "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" sold the most units during the first week of sales (nearly half a million in the U.S. alone!). According to Nintendo, on the week of launch, nearly three of every four Wii owners had a copy of this game. "Twilight Princess" was praised for its graphics and gameplay which compared to "Ocarina of Time". Fans were not disappointed with Link's quest which sent him through Hyrule and the overbearing darkness in human and wolf forms.

The game was also released on the Gamecube.
3. In this game, 'Bunnies Didn't Know What to Do with Cows', and 'Bunnies Tamed the Wild West'. What is the name of the "Rayman" game starring the evil bunnies with tons of odd skills?

Answer: Rayman: Raving Rabbids

"Rayman: Raving Rabbids" was the first Wii game to be based around multiplayer minigames. As Rayman, single players could progress through story mode in order to defeat the Rabbids (odd, yet creepy bunnies) and escape a prison cell with plungers. As you play through the game, minigames are unlocked for up to four players to join in with their Wii Remotes.

As well, unlockable bonus clips starring the Rabbids doing what they do best, can be acquired.
4. Starring as Dr. Derek Stiles, players of this game can operate on characters to eliminate GUILT, a new strain of virus. What is the name of this game, based on an earlier DS game?

Answer: Trauma Center: Second Opinion

Taking the story from "Trauma Center: Under the Knife", Atlas Games created the Wii launch title "Trauma Center: Second Opinion", where the player could save patients from life-threatening injuries, tumors, and GUILT, a super-virus threatening to painfully kill off the human race.

Although this game used many of the DS elements, players could now use the defibrillator (by thrusting forth the Wii remote and nunchuck), the penlight, and the flash camera. Players assume the role of Derek Stiles, a novice surgeon with 'The Healing Touch', who joins the staff of Caduceus in order to stop GUILT.
5. What is the subtitle of the "Marvel" game which featured characters such as Spiderman and Elektra?

Answer: Ultimate Alliance

As some of the most popular "Marvel" characters, players could team up and fight against famous bosses such as Dr. Doom, Crimson Dynamo, and Bullseye. Although this game was also released on the PS3, Game Boy Advance, PSP, and Xbox 360, players could only make use of the motion-sensitive controls in the Wii version allowing interactivity and the ability to control punches, blocks, and special attacks.
6. This Wii exclusive introduced the player to samurai swords and one of the first first-person shooters of the system. Which game has the player starring as Scott Monroe?

Answer: Red Steel

High sales of this Wii game spurred reports of a sequel from Ubisoft. One large part of this game's popularity (despite negative comments from gaming websites and magazines) is the fact that it was the first first-person shooter of the system, but not only did it allow the player to use the remote to aim and shoot the gun, but it also implemented swiping techniques allowing the player to use samurai swords with realistic movements.

The game follows Scott Monroe who plans to save his fiancé after she has been kidnapped by one of the Yakuza clans.
7. Developed by Monster Games, this launch title was the first racing game of the system. What is its title?

Answer: Excite Truck

Although this game allows players to control their respective trucks, it only uses the Wii remote. Players simply need to turn the remote like a steering wheel. Future racing games for this system implemented a new attachment which was shaped like a steering wheel.

This game was praised for its addictive races and for having better graphics than the other early Wii titles "GT Pro Series" and "Monster 4x4 World Circuit".
8. This game, from the "Super Monkey Ball" series was the first to have such interactive controls. Which subtitle is from the launch title from this series?

Answer: Banana Blitz

Not only did this "Super Monkey Ball" title stay true to its numerous predecessors, but it also allowed players to control the monkeys with simple flicks and movements. Although players could continue through an adventure, players could also play numerous mini-games and multiplayer games.

Although the game was released as a launch title, the game was actually displayed and shown on shelves on the 14th of November, five days before the release.
9. Which "Call of Duty" game was released on the same day as the Wii system?

Answer: Call of Duty 3

This edition in the "Call of Duty" series allowed players to become immersed in World War II playing as the U.S., U.K., Canada, or Poland. This game was released on all seventh generation systems prior to being released on the Wii. Although the game supports online multiplayer mode on other systems, the Wii is not included in this total.
10. Which of these games was not a North American launch title for the Wii console?

Answer: Open Season

Although "Open Season" was later released on the system, it was first released in Europe (along with the video game version of "Barnyard"). "Cars" and "Happy Feet" were the only movie-based games on the system during the release date, though other games were based on TV shows as well. "Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab" and "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" were also launch titles.

Well, what didn't I cover in this quiz? Other launch titles included "Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam", "Rampage: Total Destruction", "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2", and "Madden NFL '07".
