Charles Williams Nash was born in a farming family and soon started working at the age of 6, after his parents' divorce. He saved enough money to buy ten sheep: his first step as an entrepreneur. Later, after his involvement with Durant, Nash became chairman of Chevrolet and saved it from a bad financial phase. Sadly, he was later voted out and decided not to work for anyone again.

He bought Jeffery Motor Company and renamed it Nash Motors. The cars sold well until 1936 when he retired. Later Nash-Frazer and Hudson merged and formed American Motors Company.
