Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Once your flight lands at JFK International Airport, you do not have a lot of options in where you can go. Once you take the AirTrain to Jamaica, what train line awaits you there?

Answer: E

Aside from a taxi, there are numerous ways to get to Manhattan. One option is going to Jamaica Station and getting the E, J, Z, or the Long Island Railroad. The other is to take the AirTrain to Howard Beach Station and get the A train.
2. After a leisurely ride through Queens, we can take our train all the way to the final stop in Lower Manhattan, and see a recently reconstructed marvel. Where are we?

Answer: Chambers St - World Trade Center

One World Trade Center stands as one of the largest in the world, with a rather symbolic measurement: 1,776 feet from the top down. This building replaces half of the famous "Twin Towers" which were destroyed in 2001.
3. We'll stay in Lower Manhattan for a while, and go further south. Now we can go to the 1 train and go to its final stop in Manhattan. Where are we?

Answer: South Ferry

South Ferry is home to the Staten Island Ferry, the only non-vehicular method one can take to go to Staten Island. The station, however, can only house half of a modern-day train!
4. We've gone south, and the only direction to go is up. But before that, let's transfer to the R and take a picture near New York City's government center. Where are we?

Answer: City Hall

City Hall is the headquarters for the Mayor of New York City. The station itself (City Hall) on the R line has an abandoned lower level meant for express trains, but is now used for storage during storms.
5. Going back to the R, we continue going north to a place notable for its giant end-of-year party. Where in Midtown Manhattan are we?

Answer: Times Square - 42 St

The station itself is the most used station in the entire subway. It connects to more than 10 subway lines in Manhattan. Times Square literally "drops the ball" every year with its annual New Years' Eve celebrations. The cleanup, however, isn't that fun, with all of the confetti, the balloons, the garbage...yeesh.
6. Crossing the borough via the 7 line, we enter a station known for its world-famous lobby and exterior. Which station are we in?

Answer: Grand Central - 42 St

Grand Central was formerly home to the New York Central Railroad, followed by Penn Central, and Amtrak. It is now home to the Metro-North Railroad. Unlike Penn Station, this was saved from demolition thanks to public outcry and the formation of the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission.
7. Going further north from 42 St, we take the 4 train to the Apollo Theater, known for its "amateur nights". Which stop are we getting off at?

Answer: 125 St

Apollo Theater, in Harlem, is responsible for the rise of stars such as James Brown, the Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Bill Cosby, and other superstars. It's considered one of the key areas of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s.
8. Walking a few blocks to the B train near the Apollo, we'll be making two stops. The first is to one of the largest museums in the world, home to dinosaur fossils, meteorites, and telescopes. Which stop are we getting off at?

Answer: 81 St

The Museum of Natural History, aside from its appearance in "Night at the Museum", has garnered worldwide attention. It is home to multiple exhibits and presentations in science, the arts, history, and the research fields. 81 St provides an underground entrance to the museum.
9. Our second stop is back in Midtown Manhattan, to a plaza known for its holiday decorations and mass media presence. Which stop are we getting off at this time?

Answer: 47-50 Sts - Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center is home to the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and its affiliates. You may recall the introduction to "The TODAY Show" as a sign of the Center's importance. The 47-50 Sts station also provides an underground entrance to Rockefeller Center.
10. It's late, and you probably have to go back to the airport. Once we take the D to West 4th St, all you need to do is find this train line and it will lead you to JFK. Just make sure the train goes to JFK! Which train line am I talking about?

Answer: A

Remember that we can take the A to JFK Airport? We can, with a caveat - the A can go to one of three terminals. If you take the train going to Rockaway Park or Far Rockaway, it will stop at Howard Beach - JFK Airport. However, if you take the train going to Ozone Park, it will not!
