Answer: Red-crested turaco

Modern Angola is a presidential republic, with influences from Portuguese colonization from earlier centuries. Its national bird is the red-crested turaco, which is a cousin of sorts of the cuckoo bird. It has a call that is said to sound like a monkey's.
2. The great nation of Australia has two national animals. One is a kangaroo; the other one is quite a bit fuzzier. Its Latin name is Dromaius novaehollandiae. Can you choose its common name?

Answer: Emu

The emu is the second-tallest bird on earth, second only to the ostrich. A flightless bird, the emu can grow up to over 6' in height. It can even sprint up to 31 mph (50 kmh). They tend to travel in pairs.

Answer: Druk

A druk is a mythical creature also called the "thunder dragon" in Bhutan. It appears on the country's flag and symbolizes wealth. Rating high on various happiness measurement indices, Bhutan is certain wealthy in joy. Bhutan has a king as well as a president and its residents are predominantly Buddhist.
4. Canada - beautiful landscapes, lively cities, kind people, and savoury poutine, what's not to love? It has a national animal that is quite busy and has a mouthful of a formal name: Castor canadensis. Do you know its common name?

Answer: North American beaver

The North American beaver is the largest rodent in the Americas and arguably the cutest, though maybe the competition in the rodentia order is not very stiff. It was trapped almost to extinction; beaver fur hats were fashionable in Europe in the 1600-1700s. Canada has a busy beaver on its five-cent piece and on its first-ever stamp, called the Three Penny Beaver.
5. Costa Rica has gorgeous beaches and landscapes and a graceful national animal whose Latin name is Odocoileus virginianus. It's also found in other areas in South, Central, and North America. Do you know its common name?

Answer: White-tailed deer

In 1995, the President of Costa Rica declared the white-tailed stag the national animal, representing the country's heritage and natural world. This deer is endangered and thus it is illegal to hunt it, though it is preyed on by jaguars, pumas, crocodiles, and poisonous snakes.
6. Denmark's national animal is the mute swan, so named because it has no voice. The country also has a national insect. Can you name it?

Answer: Small tortoiseshell

The small tortoiseshell may sound like a turtle-like animal, but it's actually the name of a colorful little butterfly. It's mostly reddish orange and has a typical wingspan of about 4-6 cm. Although it's Denmark's national animal, this butterfly is also found throughout the milder climate zones of Europe.
7. India has more than one national animal but this one is particularly colorful. Can you name it?

Answer: Indian peafowl

The Indian peafowl is native to India and the southern areas of Sri Lanka . The male is known for his stunningly colorful plumage, and the bird has long been celebrated in India's mythologies. Examples of peafowl imagery are found throughout India in its architecture, coins, and art.
8. India has another national animal; you would not call it cuddly. And it has no feathers. Rikki Tikki Tavi would make a meal of it. Can you name it?

Answer: King Cobra

India's King Cobra is the world's longest venomous snake. It has a forked tongue and it mostly eats other snakes. One of its predators is the mongoose, a mammal that has a natural resistance to the cobra's neurotoxins. Rikki Tikki Tavi is the mongoose in one of Rudyard Kipling's "Jungle Book" stories.
9. China's national animal is world-famous for its striking good looks! Its full name is ailuropoda melanoleuca. Do you know its common name?

Answer: Giant panda

One of the most beloved animals worldwide is China's giant panda. It has lost much of its natural habitat to deforestation but still lives in a few mountain ranges in central China, including Sichuan province. China residents are proud of this beautiful creature and named it one of their mascots in the 2008 Summer Olympics hosted in Beijing.
10. The unicorn really is a national animal for a European country. Can you name which country has this whimsical animal as its national symbol?

Answer: Scotland

Some historians believe Scotland chose the unicorn as its national animal in response to it being the apparent enemy of the lion, the animal that England had adopted as its symbol a century earlier. For many centuries, many cultures believed the unicorn to be a real animal, even after scientist Baron George Covier attempted to prove in 1825 it was physically impossible for an animal with a split hoof to have a single horn coming out of its head.

It is still considered a symbol of good luck and imagination today.
