Boone and Shannon. Boone and Shannon don't appear in this episode, although Boone is mentioned by Kate. Sun and Jin have a split second of camera time as Claire watches them on the sea shore. Michael, Walt and Vincent also have a split second of camera time as Walt plays on the beach with Vincent and Michael is building his raft. Claire had two scenes this episode, both with Charlie.
Opening coconuts. Sayid talks to Charlie after Hurley mentions to him that Charlie may be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Sayid tells Charlie how he felt after he killed a man, and lets Charlie know that he's there for him if he needs to talk about it.
Tennessee. Frank notices that Sawyer is also American and asks him where abouts he is from. Sawyer tells him Tennessee. In an earlier episode, Kate mentions that the envelope Sawyer is always carrying around is from Nashville's bi-centennial. That's when she realizes that it was Sawyer who wrote the letter. According to my AOL encyclopedia, the state of Tennessee is 42,144 square miles and has an approximate population of 4,877,185.
Australian rules football/Rugby. The television can be seen as Sawyer drinks in the dark bar. The bar is pretty empty and neither Sawyer nor Jack's dad are watching the game.
She fell off the monkey bars. Locke explained how his foster mother blamed herself for his sister's death. Six months after the funeral, a dog walked into the house and sat in the middle of the floor and stared at his mother until his mother started crying. The dog eventually moved in with them and slept in his sister's room on her bed. When his mother died a few years later, the dog disappeared as mysteriously as it had appeared.
None of these. The only nickname Sawyer uses for Kate this episode is 'sassafras'. He calls her this as he explains the "I Never" game. When Kate doesn't know what the "I Never" game is, Sawyer explains that it's a game to help them get to know each other.
They both killed a man. Although they both skipped college, it's the killing a man thing that Sawyer says they have in common. Sawyer says he's never been in love but Kate has. They don't mention having lost someone important to them. They both also wore pink at some point in their lives.
She wants access to Sawyer's stash of goods. Kate wants Sawyer to give her "carte blanche" or a "blank check". She explains to him that she wants him to give her anything she asks for from his stash with no questions asked. She tells him that is her deal and to take it or leave it. Sawyer agrees because he knows he has a better chance of catching the boar with her help.
A compass. We see him pack the knife, the bottle of water and the gun plus some other stuff that we can't see. While he's packing he's complaining that the boar is purposefully harassing him, and Kate has to remind him that it's just a boar.
4 . Hurley is worried about Charlie in this episode and in this scene he's telling Sayid about Charlie possibly suffering from post- traumatic stress disorder. He mentions that Charlie shot Ethan four times in the chest.
He gets cramps. Hurley is helping Charlie bury Ethan. Charlie says he can manage on his own and Hurley says that he probably could until Ethan rises from the dead and chases them crying and screaming into the forest. Hurley then says that he would be caught first because he can't run very fast and gets cramps.
Kate. Sawyer tells Kate that he's going after the boar. Kate realizes that Sawyer knows nothing about tracking and hunting boar so she tells him that he's more likely to get lost or worse than actually catch the beast.
Next to a tree. Sawyer grabs up the tarp and shoves it under his arm. As he heads back to camp he hears whispering in the air and then he hears the boar sneak up behind him. As it runs past him Sawyer gives chase but trips on something and does a back flip into the mud. The boar gets away.
Sayid. Sayid approaches Sawyer as he picks up his things. Sayid says, "boar took your tarp." Sawyer sarcastically tells him that it was dark, but that he's pretty sure it was a boar. Sayid says that maybe the boar wanted to go camping.
Laura. Laura wakes up little Sawyer in the opening scene and tells him to hide so his dad will think he's still at his grandmother's house. In the background, Sawyer's father is yelling her name. She finally leaves Sawyer and goes out to face him.
Pizza. Sawyer was drinking with the man he didn't know to be Jack's father, and the sign beside the TV said "Pizza". The man shared about how his son thought he hated him, and how fate was made to make him suffer. That, he claimed, was "why the Red Sox would never win the Series". Later, when on the island, Sawyer heard Jack repeat the phrase and realized who the man really was. Jack asked why he wanted to know and Sawyer said, "No reason" and walked off.
Taking out the garbage. Sawyer approached the stand the first time with the intent of killing the man he believed was the real Sawyer. He ordered shrimp in hot sauce and clutched the gun in his hand, but didn't go through with it until after talking to the man in the bar (Jack's father). Sawyer then learned the mistake he had made, after being set up all along, when he shot Mr. Duckett by the dumpster as he carried the trash bags.
A shopping complex. While Sawyer and Kate were hunting for the boar, Sawyer looked around at the tropical island and said he took comfort in knowing that one day it would be a shopping complex or an AutoMall.
Just after his comment, Sawyer and Kate stumbled upon the wallow near the boar's den.

He said that the event would be with him forever and told Charlie that he was not alone, so don't pretend to be.
Neither had married. During their "I never" game to learn more about each other, Sawyer told Kate that he knew she had never been to college. She replied that she had never implied that she had been to college, though Sawyer had never gone either. Sawyer said he had never been to Disneyland and Kate didn't drink. Sawyer replied, "That's just sad!" Sawyer said he had never killed a man, but both drank to it. Only Kate had been married (and she said it didn't last very long).
Coffee . Locke appeared from the jungle eating fruit and entered Sawyer and Kate's campsite. He said that he had been searching the jungle for useful things from the plane. They asked what he had found, and he said that he had found bags of coffee. They shared the coffee as he told them about his sister's accident.

Six months. Locke told how his sister Jeannie fell off the monkey bars and broke her neck, and how his foster mother (whose story paralleled Sawyer's) blamed herself. Three . He saw the boar the first time when he awoke to it in the tent. The second time it attacked him from behind and ran off into the jungle when he fell in the mud. It attacked his site again, but wasn't seen. The last time Sawyer saw the boar he was about to shoot it, but didn't. The boar represented part of Sawyer's past, and also appeared in place of his father in his dream.

Ali. Sawyer was collecting his things after the boar destroyed his tent and Sayid approached him. When Sayid mentioned that he thought all the boar had vacated the area, Sawyer sarcastically said, "Well, Genius, I guess we got some bad info". Sayid was smiling and Sawyer told him to, "Laugh it up, Mohamed". When he called out to Sayid to ask about the voices that whispered in the wind, however, he actually called him by name.
