Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Touring New Mexico, Ralph the llama had to cover his ears as he stumbled onto the set of filming for the 2009 film, "Terminator Salvation." Which Welsh-born actor, who won the Best Actor award for his roles in both "American Psycho" (2000) and "The Dark Knight" (2008), did Ralph experience giving a mouthful of abuse to a crew member?

Answer: Christian Bale

Bale won the Chlotrudis Best Actor award for his role in "American Psycho" in 2001, and an Empire award for Best Actor for "The Dark Knight" in 2009.

The above incident took place in 2008, and the target of Bale's words was director of photography, Shane Hurlbut. It was made public soon after, as the whole rant had been audio recorded. Much criticism of Bale's actions predictably followed and a public apology was made shortly after.

"Terminator Salvation" was the fourth instalment in the classic "Terminator" series, and saw Bale work with Sam Worthington. Worthington is English by birth, but has an obvious Australian accent, having moved there in his childhood. Sam's success can easily be seen in 2009/10, starring in the huge blockbusters, "Avatar" and "Clash of the Titans."
2. Ralph recalls the time, in 2009, when he had the best burger of his life. He was in New York, chomping away, when a young girl strutted towards the counter, before exclaiming, "don't you know who I am?! I'm Miley Cyrus!" Which of these is *not* a reason why someone may recognise Miley Cyrus?

Answer: She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in "The Last Song" (2010)

Miley has spread herself across many areas of entertainment. Though first making her name in the TV programme "Hannah Montana", Miley soon entered the music charts and has appeared in several movie roles. Her first singles were released under the name of Hannah Montana is 2006.

Being the daughter of the country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, many have put Miley's outburst down to being brought up in the celebrity world. Such an upbringing, these critics believe, lead to delusions of grandeur, as well as a good laugh for customers at that certain takeaway when the store manager retorted, "Oh, that's nice. Here's your order. Have a nice day."

Another fruit of Billy's loins is Trace Cyrus, older brother of Miley and ex-band member of Metro Station. This semi-successful pop-rock band was active for 4 years, before breaking up in 2010.
3. Ralph the llama now tells of a memorable tweet from a certain scruffy looking Mancunian. This tweet was an expletive-laden response to the comedian Peter Kay, who had described this man in his own colourful words at the 2010 BRIT Awards. Which man, lead singer of Brit-pop band Oasis, is Ralph talking about?

Answer: Liam Gallagher

Liam started the band in 1991. His brother Noel later joined, taking the role of lead guitarist. The band soon came to define the sound of UK pop music in the '90s, with songs such as "Some Might Say" (1995), "Wonderwall" (1995), "Don't Look Back In Anger" (1996), and "All Around the World" (1998). Though the band will always be more associated with the '90s, their hits continued well into the start of the 21st century.

Gallagher made his speech after being awarded the title of "Best British Album of the Last 30 Years" for the 1995 work, "What's the Story, Morning Glory." Kay called Gallagher a rather rude word after the singer threw his BRIT award into the crowd following his acceptance speech. This was the prelude for Gallagher's explicit tweet.
4. Ralph's not a fan of all these talent shows, and had a few words to say about the strop of a talent show judge who quit her post in 2009 after "only" being offered $2-3 million a year. What was her name?

Answer: Paula Abdul

Though well remembered as a choreographer, Paula was also a successful singer, achieving four U.S number ones in 1989, followed by two more in 1991. Abdul's first two albums - "Forever Your Girl" (1988) and "Spellbound" (1991) - both reached the number one spot in the US album charts.

Paula had been a judge on "American Idol" from its debut in 2002 for eight years before her departure, and left with great sadness. Speculation surrounding the story, however, seems to point to a rather cynical plot by Abdul to get a significant pay rise. Although the ratings of "Idol" had dropped in recent years, the show was still one of the highest grossing on TV, and the last straw for Abdul seemed to be the $15 million a year three-year contract signed by the show's presenter Ryan Seacrest. Needless to say, Simon Cowell walked away with the award of highest paid judge.
5. Ralph now takes a trip down memory lane, and recalls a famous overreaction he heard on the radio show, "American Top 40." The star of this story is radio presenter Casey Kasem. Which of the following was the reason for Kasem's dramatic outburst in 1985?

Answer: That an up-tempo song was played immediately before a dedication to a dead dog

Kasem was seen as a perfectionist, losing his temper if the slightest thing was wrong with one of his shows. He went onto give a swear-filled rant after having to read a dedication to a dog that had recently died, as a cheery track had just finished playing.

Kasem was the voice of Shaggy from the children's detective cartoon, "Scooby Doo," ever since it began in 1969 (though Kasem did not do the voice over between 1998 and 2001).
6. As you may know, Ralph the llama likes to travel the world. On return to Heathrow from one of his trips in 2008, he recalls, he saw a rather pretty lady by the name of Naomi Campbell, who was being taken away for assaulting a police officer after one of her bags was lost. Which of these is *not* a claim to fame by this supermodel?

Answer: She is the adopted daughter of Nelson Mandela

Naomi Campbell is one of the biggest names in modelling, and is seen as having led the way for many black female models, becoming the first black cover girl of Vogue Paris in August 1988.

Though Nelson Mandela is not the adopted father of Campbell, the supermodel describes him as being like an adopted grandfather, after having worked with him in many charity projects.

The incident at Heathrow in 2008 left Campbell with 200 hours of community service, thousands of pounds of fines, and a ban from flying with British Airways.
7. Whilst some celebrity strops cause Ralph the llama to shake his head, some he can't help but chuckle at. Which rather thin-skinned band failed to see the funny side of presenter Clive Anderson's jibes in a 1996 interview, and so stormed off the set?

Answer: The Bee Gees

Amongst the Bee Gees' most recognisable hits are "Stayin' Alive" (1977), "Night Fever" (1978), and "Tragedy" (1979). They provided the sound of the '70s, with their song contributions to the classic film, "Saturday Night Fever", and have been rewarded with eight Grammys over the last four decades.

The interview started off with a sourly received joke, following Barry Gibb's revelation of what the band were originally called (a rather rude sounding French term). Barry remained fairly hostile to Anderson's questions over the next few minutes, and Robin and Maurice did most of the talking. The presenter's good-humoured jibes continued until Barry stormed off the set, quickly followed by his brothers.

The relationship of the three brothers was the subject of a sketch done by Matt Lucas and David Walliams, which suggested that neither Maurice nor Robin could speak without the permission of Barry, the dominant older brother, as mother "left him in charge."
8. Ralph is a real movie-lover, and he now tells us about when he attended the premiere of "War of the Worlds" in 2008. It was all smiles, until he walked past a familiar (and rather wet) face, telling an interviewer that he was a "jerk" and asking him why he squirted him with water. Who was this familiar face?

Answer: Tom Cruise

Though Tom Cruise is often in the public eye for his activities off screen, he has certainly earned his crust, appearing in some of the biggest blockbusters in the past three decades. Cruise is perhaps best remembered for his roles in "Top Gun" (1986), "Mission: Impossible" (1996), "Jerry Maguire" (1996), and "Magnolia" (1999). He has been rewarded with Golden Globe awards, as well as Oscar nominations.

This stunt was intended to be a light-hearted joke, but the heated reaction led to the four-man crew being arrested for assault. It was intended to be broadcast as part of the Channel 4 show "Balls of Steel."
9. Ralph now tells us about a time when he was looking at the rather expensive car of the singer, Jay Kay. All of a sudden, the pop star began to throw his weight about, accusing nearby photographers of denting his car. With which band did Jay Kay find fame?

Answer: Jamiroquai

Jamiroquai's unique sound allowed them to achieve great success with their first six albums in the UK. Though their success was mainly limited to Britain, they did manage to establish a good fan base in America, scoring five US dance chart number ones.

Jay Kay was showing off his new and expensive car to the photographers at the premiere of "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" (2002) when he got out and began to accuse the mob of denting his car. Eventually, he singled out one photographer on account of his guilty appearance. But Jay Kay perhaps bit off more than he could chew, as this photographer only kept calm in the face of Kay's abuse for so long before launching forward and head butting the singer. This gave Jay Kay a taste of his own medicine, as he had reportedly assaulted paparazzi in 2001 and 2006.
10. Ralph's final tale of celebrity strops is about a man who, in 2010, joined Kevin Costner and Errol Flynn, as he portrayed a famous Nottingham folk hero. This man stormed out of a radio interview after the presenter suggested that his character had hints of an Irish accent. What is this man's name?

Answer: Russell Crowe

The folk hero in question is, of course, Robin Hood. Russell's depiction of this classic English character in the 2010 blockbuster saw no green tights. Whilst the jokey comments about the tights were laughed off by Crowe, the accusation of his character having an Irish accent was taken less lightly, as the actor swore at BBC presenter Mark Lawson, before storming out of the studio.

Crowe's career surge came in the late '90s/early 2000s, appearing in several award winning films, such as "The Insider" (1999), "Gladiator" (2000), and "A Beautiful Mind" (2001).
