Three trials ensued and he was eventually found not guilty. A doctor didn't find any evidence of rape and it is thought that she actually died from peritonitis caused by a ruptured bladder.

Roscoe's nickname was 'Fatty', which was given to him because of his large size. This he disliked. However, despite this, he became known as Fatty Arbuckle.

American actress Tallulah Brockman Bankhead was born in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1902. Both her father and her grandfather were U.S. Senators. Her film debut was in 1931 in a film entitled 'Tarnished Lady'. Other films of hers include The Little Foxes', 'Antony and Cleopatra', and the Hitchcock movie 'Lifeboat'. A heavy smoker and drinker, she died in 1968 aged 66.
