Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Be Careful What You Wish For", what happened after Sam wished that everyone would buzz off?

Answer: Everyone got turned into flies.

Sam is frequently bullied because she is not good at basketball and because her last name is "Bird", so some of the kids expect her to be a bird. In the gym, she finds a locket. After school, she finds the locket's owner, Clarissa. It is a magical locket that grants wishes. Clarissa gives Sam three wishes in exchange for escorting her home.

Sam's first wish is to be the best basketball player on the team. Clarissa grants this wish by making the other players even worse than her and not by improving her abilities. After the team loses badly, Sam gets bullied by the other players to the point where she says "Leave me alone! I wish everyone would just buzz off!" out of frustration. Clarissa thinks this is a real wish and everyone gets turned into a fly except for Sam and Clarissa. Sam's third wish is to cancel her first two wishes and have her biggest bully, Judith, become her biggest admirer. This wish is granted, but Judith insists on spending every minute of every day with Sam, to the point that Judith breaks into Sam's bedroom at night.

Sam finds Clarissa one more time and asks Clarissa to cancel her most recent wish so she can have one more wish. Sam's final wish is that Clarissa had never met her and instead met Judith. This wish is granted and Judith now gets three wishes from Clarissa. Before making her first wish, Judith hurls some insults at Sam. Judith's wish is to be admired by everyone whenever anyone looks at her. Clarissa turns Judith into a statue. It's possible that Clarissa did this on purpose because Judith was bullying Sam. It is unknown whether Judith is dead or whether her spirit is trapped in the statue.
2. In "Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes", what happens to Major McCall?

Answer: He is turned into a lawn gnome.

The Burtons' neighbor, a military man named Major McCall, constantly insults them. He steals their baseballs. He hurls unprovoked insults at the family. He makes fun of their lawn gnomes. Joe's father and sister ignore him and they make Joe ignore him too, though he doesn't want to.

The lawn gnomes don't ignore him. They come to life at night and destroy Major McCall's garden. Joe is blamed for it and has to fix it. The gnomes come to life at night and freeze whenever there is light. Major McCall's house has a lighting system where a bunchy of lights come on whenever anyone enters the garden.

This freezes the gnomes and wakes him up. One night, he finds the gnomes in his yard and he picks up one of them and takes it away. As he takes it away from the safety of his lighting system, it comes to life and we hear him scream.

At the end of the episode, we see that he is turned into a lawn gnome and he is inside the Burtons' yard.
3. In "Ghost Beach", we learn that what animals can recognize ghosts?

Answer: Dogs

Jerry and Terri Sadler spend the summer with distant relatives on a beach. There, they find a lot of gravestones with the name "Sadler". They also meet two kids named Sam and Louisa. Sam and Louisa tell them that dogs can recognize ghosts (which is why there is a dog skeleton on the beach) and they tell them that Harrison Sadler is a ghost who lives in a cave. Jerry and Terri believe them at first because there was a gravestone that said "Harrison Sadler" and they saw a flickering light in the cave just like Sam and Louisa said.

Jerry and Terri check out the cave at night. Harrison tells them that he is not a ghost and that the gravestone is a distant relative and he was named after him. He also tells the kids that Sam and Louisa are the ghosts and he directs them to their gravestones. They go to where he said and they find Sam and Louisa's gravestones as well as Sam and Louisa. Sam and Louisa say that those gravestones are ancestors and they were named after them. Sam and Louisa show them some new grave stones with the names "Jerry Sadler" and "Terri Sadler" written on them, claiming that those are evidence that Harrison plans to kill them. The four of them go to the cave. As there's an argument over who the ghosts are, Harrison whistles and a dog comes. The dog barks at Sam and Louisa, revealing them to be the ghosts. As their skin rots away, they explain that they died over 300 years ago in a freezing cold winter and they want Jerry and Terri to join them. Harrison traps Sam and Louisa in his cave and all three of them die.

Agatha and Brad, the people that Jerry and Terri were living with, act suspiciously throughout the episode. They refuse to hook up the electricity in the house. When Jerry tells them that he saw a light in a cave, they come up with the most ridiculous lie ever (tThey say it was Aurora Borealis). At the end of the episode, the dog comes in and barks at them. They reveal that they intend to kill the dog and serve him for breakfast. To their horror, Jerry and Terry realize that Agatha and Brad are also ghosts.
4. In "Attack of the Jack-o-lanterns", Shane and Shana are what?

Answer: Aliens

Drew's two best friends, Shane and Shana, come back to town for Halloween (they had moved away a long time ago). They decide to help her get revenge against her bullies, Tabitha and Lee, on Halloween. Drew's mother doesn't want her to go out on Halloween because four people went missing in a nearby town, but her father convinces her mother to let her go because she will be in a group.

Drew, Walker (one of her friends), Tabitha, and Lee all meet up. There is no sign of Shane and Shana so they go trick-or-treating without them for a while. Then, two people with heads that look like jack-o-lanterns show up. They show the four kids a new neighborhood. There are a lot of houses with candy in the neighborhood, but no one is trick-or-treating there except those four kids. When they try to go home, one jack-o-lantern says "More houses!" while pointing a certain way and the other one says "Trick-or-treat forever!" They refuse to let the kids go home. Eventually, Tabitha takes off one of their heads. To her shock, she discovers that it is not a costume and these really are people with jack-o-lantern heads. The four of them run off.

The jack-o-lanterns catch them and say they are going to turn them all into one of them. Tabitha and Lee escape. The Jack-o-lantern heads laugh for a while and then they shapeshift into Shane and Shana. They reveal that they are aliens that can shapeshift. They also reveal that they eat humans and they are the ones who ate the four people that went missing. They do not eat the kids because the kids are not fat enough, but they warn the kids not to eat too much Halloween candy because it'll fatten them up and the aliens will be back next Halloween. Shane and Shana get on their space ship and fly away.
5. In "The Haunted Mask Two", who gets a haunted mask?

Answer: Steve

Carly Beth refuses to tell Chuck and Steve where she got the mask that she wore last year no matter how much they plead with her. When they walk away, she tells Sabrina that she buried it. The original haunted mask comes out of where she buried it and it possesses the shopkeeper. When Chuck and Steve see the shopkeeper, Chuck recognizes the mask as the one that Carly Beth wore last year, so they follow him and he leads them to the shop. The shop has closed down, but the back door is open. Chuck goes home, but Steve sneaks in the back door and finds a mask that he loves and he takes it.

Steve puts on the mask three times. It becomes Steve's new face, turns his whole body into an elderly man's body, and it makes him scare everybody in the neighborhood. Steve meets the possessed shopkeeper, who tells Steve that the mask turned him into an old man and now he must do whatever the shopkeeper says or he will become even sicker. The shopkeeper coerces Steve into breaking into Carly Beth's home, stealing her plaster head, and breaking it.

Chuck finds Carly Beth and Sabrina and tells them what happened to Steve. Carly Beth deduces that Steve got a mask from the same place that she got the mask she wore last year, and she says they must find him because he is in major trouble. It takes them until almost midnight, but eventually they all find Steve and the shopkeeper in the cemetery. Just as the original haunted mask tries to possess Carly Beth again, Steve pushes her out of the way. This counts as a symbol of love and the masks are turned into ordinary masks (Steve and the shopkeeper are no longer possessed). The kids try to burn the masks, but the masks are resistant to fire. Steve dog chews up the original haunted mask, but that doesn't seem to kill it for good.
6. At the end of "Let's Get Invisible", what convinces Max that there's something wrong with his little brother Noah?

Answer: He's suddenly right-handed.

In the book that this was based on, Noah's nickname was Lefty. He isn't called that in the episode, but Noah spends much of the episode bragging that he is left-handed. He, Max, and Max's girlfriend Erin discover a secret room in the house with a mirror and a light above the mirror. Whenever they turn on the light, they become invisible. Whenever they turn off the light, they are visible again. However, each time they do it, it takes longer and longer to become visible again.

Max shows this to his friend Zack, who is amazed by it. At one point after Zack becomes visible again, Erin notices that his earring is on his right ear instead of his left ear. Zack is also now a bully who is determined to force the kids into the mirror. Max ends up inside the mirror where he meets his evil reflection, a boy who looks like him but the writing on his clothes is written in the opposite order. The evil reflection wants to trap Max in the mirror while the reflection gets in the real world. Max escapes the mirror and tells Erin to break it. Erin breaks the mirror and Max's evil reflection and Zack's evil reflection are thrown back into the mirror while the real Zack is taken out of the mirror.

As the kids leave the room, the mirror magically fixes itself. At the end of the episode, Noah throws a cup with his right hand. When Max asks Noah why he threw the cup with his right hand, Noah refuses to respond. Max realizes that this is Noah's evil reflection and the real Noah is trapped in the mirror.
7. In "Scarecrow Walks at Midnight", who learned magic and made the scarecrows walk at midnight?

Answer: Stan

When Jodie and Mark spend the summer at their grandparents' house, they notice that things are different compared to previous summers spent there. Their grandparents no longer make chocolate chip pancakes. They make cherry pie instead of apple pie. Their grandfather no longer tells scary stories. Every time they do something that Stanley (the grandparents' farm worker) does not like, he warns them to stop or else the scarecrows will walk at midnight.

Initially, they think that Stanley's son Sticks is playing pranks. They come up with a revenge prank to play on him at night. Then they discover that the scarecrows are alive and they really do walk at midnight. Sticks rescues Jodie and explains to her that his father learned magic so the scarecrows would come to life so that they could do some work and his father would have less work to do. The scarecrows came to life and wanted to kill the humans in the area. Stanley cast a spell to put them to sleep, but then he told his employers (the kids' grandparents) that he will wake them up again unless they do things his way from now on (make only his favorite food, don't tell scary stories, etc.). The grandparents do whatever Stanley wants them to do out of fear of the scarecrows.

As the scarecrows attack the kids, Mark turns on the thresher which kills the scarecrows. The next day, everything seems great until Stanley reads another book. It turns out he cast a spell that activated the thresher. The thresher runs itself at a window of the house as the episode ends.
8. How many characters are in BOTH "Monster Blood" and "More Monster Blood"?

Answer: Three

Evan, his dog Trigger, and a boy named Curtis are the only characters that are in both episodes.

In "Monster Blood", Evan's parents take him to his aunt Kathryn's house. He doesn't like her because she listens to strange music, makes Trigger stay out of the house, and forbids him from going to a certain room in the house. A neighbor girl named Andy convinced Evan to go into the forbidden room while his aunt is not home. They discover a jar with a green slimy thing that is labeled "Monster Blood". As they open the jar, a cat is released. They play with the monster blood for a while and Trigger eats some of it. The next day, they discover that it grows. They also discover that Trigger has become huge because he ate it. They try in vain to contain it. When Kathryn comes home, she sees the monster blood and is upset that the kids disobeyed her and entered the forbidden room.

The cat turns into a woman named Sarabeth. Sarabeth used to be Kathryn's roommate. Kathryn intended to evict her when she discovered that Sarabeth was practicing witchcraft, but then Sarabeth sent the monster blood after Kathryn. Kathryn pushed Sarabeth into the monster blood. The monster blood trapped Sarabeth inside of it. Kathryn put the monster blood in a sealed jar and kept it in a forbidden room, hoping no one would release it again. Because the kids released it again, Sarabeth intends to send it after the kids and Kathryn. Trigger, who is now giant, pushes Sarabeth into the monster blood. This reduces the amount of monster blood, kills Sarabeth, and returns Trigger to his normal size. The monster blood goes back into the jar. The episode ends with Evan on the airplane telling the story to the boy sitting next to him, a genius named Curtis.

"More Monster Blood" takes place on an airplane. The episode begins after Evan had told Curtis the story of "Monster Blood". A girl named Julia and a bully named Conan overheard the story and they don't believe Evan. It is revealed that Julia, Curtis, and Conan went to camp together and also to school together, but none of them are friends. Trigger is in the cargo hold and he barks loudly when he sees monster blood on the plane. The monster blood grows and eats a man in the bathroom. When no one can get in the bathroom, the stewardess unlocks the bathroom door to discover that no one is inside. She is confused how the bathroom door could have been unlocked if no one was inside. Evan sees the monster blood in the bathroom. He alerts the stewardess, but she does not believe him and warns him that she'll report him to the police for lying about a disaster on an airplane unless he returns to his seat. Initially, no one believes him. The monster blood keeps growing. It eats the stewardess and most of the passengers. Evan, Curtis, Julia, and Conan are the only ones left alive at one point. When the other three see the monster blood, they finally believe Evan. Curtis discovers that the monster blood is allergic to airline food. He pushes the whole tray of food at the monster blood, which makes it vomit out everybody that it ate and it shrinks. At the airport, the stewardess shows security the green stuff that caused trouble on the plane and she explains that it is monster blood. Conan and Curtis are now friends and Julia gives Evan her phone number and tells him to call her. As Evan gets his coat, he notices a giant ant. He screams and the episode ends.
9. In "Welcome to Dead House", what killed most of the people in Dark Falls?

Answer: Chemicals

A chemical factory exploded and the chemicals leaked into the soil. All of the townspeople were killed and turned into undead people who avoid sunlight. They drink the blood of living people and turn them into undead people. The Benson family moves there because it is cheap. As soon as they get there, their dog Petey barks at everyone he sees (because dogs can tell when someone is undead). Mrs. Benson hangs a wreath over the fireplace even though everyone else in the family hates it. At night, Amanda repeatedly sees strangers breaking into the house. Her screams wake up the family, but they never see the people that she tells them about.

During the day, Amanda and Josh go outside and meet other kids in the town. The other kids in the town hate sunlight and Amanda and Josh sense that something is not right with them. In the house, Petey finds an old newspaper which mentions a chemical factory explosion, but the realtor says that it's old news and there are no problems now. The next day, Petey disappears. Amanda and Josh go out to look for him. They find him, but he runs away from them and leads them to a cemetery. In the cemetery, they overhear townspeople saying that they are starving and they need to eat now. Amanda and Josh realize that these people are zombies who will eat them. Josh accidentally breaks a stick and the noise alerts the townspeople, who chase them home. They get in the house safely, but now all the townspeople are outside. Mr. and Mrs. Benson had invited the neighbors over for lunch and the neighbors tell them that the town is filled with "walking undead" who eat living people. The rest of the family and the neighbors convince Mrs. Benson that the wreath is waking up the undead, so she burns it. Then, it is revealed that the neighbors are also walking undead and the wreath was the only thing that was protecting the Bensons from them. After a short chase, Amanda and Josh open the shutters and let the sunlight in. This destroys most of the undead people in town. The Bensons then get in their car and hurry out of town and we see that the realtor is undead too. Petey is in the road, so they stop and let him in the car. Then, they learn that he is a zombie too.
10. In "Night of the Living Dummy Three", how does Slappy die?

Answer: Lightning

Trina and Dan's father is a ventriloquist whose favorite dummy is named Rocky. He bought a new dummy at a junk store named Slappy. Slappy's face is broken after being killed by Dennis in "Night of the Living Dummy 2". Trina reads his card and his face is magically healed.

Trina and Dan aren't pleased that their cousin Zane is going to sleep in their house for a few days, nor is he pleased to live with them because they always play practical jokes on him. As soon as Zane arrives, strange things start happening. Rocky ends up in Zane's bedroom wearing Dan's mask. Zane's photographs are edited in a weird way. Slappy kicks Zane. Dinner is ruined. Trina and Dan are blamed and punished for all of these things. One night, they hide in the attic to see who is doing those things. They discover Zane going into the attic and getting out the dummies to pull a revenge prank on them. They catch him in they act and they conclude that he is responsible for all of the pranks. Zane is punished by having to mow the lawn with a primitive lawn mower. The parents go out for the evening for dinner. When the parents are gone, there are more pranks. As the kids argue over who did it, Slappy appears and starts speaking. The kids then realize that he was responsible for everything. He chases them around the house. They put him in his case and put the case in a well. He escapes, returns home, and turns Zane into a dummy. He also reveals that he has brought Rocky to life and Rocky is his slave. Trina convinces Rocky to turn against Slappy. Trina speaks calmly to Rocky while Slappy speaks abusively to him, so Rocky takes Trina's side and throws Slappy out the window. Slappy is struck by lightning and dies. Zane returns to human form.
