Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Kluane

Kluane National Park and Reserve is in the southwest corner of the Yukon Territory, also bordering the U.S. state of Alaska; the closest town is Haines Junction, Alaska. The highest mountain in Canada, Mount Logan, is located in Kluane. The park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 for the spectacular mountain and glacier views and habitat for animals including Dall sheep, caribou, and bears.
2. Wood Buffalo

Wood Buffalo is the largest Canadian National Park and the second-largest national park in the world behind Northeast Greenland National Park. Wood Buffalo spans the border between Alberta and the Northwest Territories. The name is descriptive of both the main ecosystem, the Northern Boreal (Wooded) Plains, and protected species, the Wood Bison (Buffalo).
3. Quttinirpaaq

Quttinirpaaq is on Ellesmere Island in the territory of Nunavut. Meaning "Top of the World", Quttinirpaaq extends to latitude 83.2 North, just shy of Northeast Greenland Park that reached 83.7 North. Due to its remoteness, it typically has 50 or fewer visitors each year.
4. Terra Nova

"Terra Nova" is Latin for "New Land", which fits the location of the national park in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The park land is old-growth forest that abuts the Atlantic Ocean in a series of cliffs, coves, and beaches.
5. Cape Breton Highlands

Cape Breton Highlands National Park was established in 1936 in the province of Nova Scotia (New Scotland). The 15th century Italian Giovanni Caboto explored the area for England, where his name was rendered as John Cabot. Cabot Strait borders the park, the Cabot Trail scenic highway loops around the park, and the Cabot Trail offers a series of scenic hikes within the park with many trailheads on the scenic highway.
6. Fundy

Fundy National Park is in the province of New Brunswick and the site of the highest tides on earth (up to 50 ft). At low tide, park visitors can explore the exposed intertidal zone and the many forms of animal and plant life that live in that rich environment. Hiking trails lead over rugged and gentler parts of the land, and 25 waterfalls can be seen from the trails.
7. Waterton Lakes

Waterton Lakes National Park is located in the province of Alberta and includes both the Great Prairie and the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains. Waterton's southern border is the international border with the U.S. and the state of Montana. Waterton Lakes is the only Canadian National Park that includes the foothills ecosystem that runs along the eastern edge of the Rockies in Alberta.
8. Pacific Rim

Located on the south shore of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve includes long sandy ocean beaches and unspoiled dense temperate rainforest. The term "Reserve" indicates that the lands of Pacific Rim include areas where aboriginal tribes have a claim, and they are allowed to conduct renewable harvests of flora and fauna in the park.
9. Wapusk

There are no roads into Wapusk National Park on the shore of Hudson Bay in Manitoba. The park is named with the Cree word for "polar bear" and one of the aims of the park is to preserve polar bears and their habitat.
10. Torngat Mountains

Torngat Mountains National Park is in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, on the north tip of the Quebec-Labrador Peninsula. The park includes ocean areas, glacial valleys, and steep, sharp mountains of the Arctic Cordillera, traditional home of the Inuit and Nunavik peoples.
