The most popular candy in China does not even contain chocolate. White Rabbit creamy candy looks and tastes like a tootsie roll with a vanilla flavor instead of chocolate. Its major ingredient is powered milk.

In 1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer's shop in Bull Street, Birmingham. He sold cocoa and drinking chocolate, and it became very popular. So, in 1831, he bought a warehouse and started manufacturing, with help from his sons. Soon after, in 1847, they moved to a larger factory. John retired in 1861, and his sons took over the business.
Then a new and innovative coco press was invented. In 1878 a new and bigger factory was built on 14 -plus acres south of Birmingham at a site the Cadbury brothers named Bournville. The site contained housing for the employees, playgrounds. camps, fields for cricket and football, tennis courts and swimming pools. Worker's facilities like these were unheard of in Victorian times. Cadbury became one of the first firms to introduce a Saturday half-day off work.
