Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are greeted by TC-14

TC-14, a protocol droid in service of the Viceroy of the Trade Federation is the first to greet the two Jedi when they arrive at the Droid Control Ship. TC-14 informs them that Viceroy Nute Gunray will be with them shortly. After reporting to Gunray that the ambassadors are two Jedi Knights, Gunray sends TC-14 back to them to distract them while Gunray contacts Darth Sideous.
2. Qui-Gon saves Jar Jar Binks

After stowing away on the droid transports, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan arrive on the surface of Naboo. While running from the transports, Qui-Gon encounters Jar Jar Binks, a Gungan native of Naboo. Qui-Gon saves Jar Jar from being flattened by an oncoming droid transport, and Jar Jar thanks him by saying his life belongs to Qui-Gon as demanded by the Gungan gods.

After travelling to the Gungan city, the two Jedi and Jar Jar take an underwater transport to the capital city of Theed, where they find and rescue Queen Amidala from a group of battle droids.
3. R2-D2 fixes the shield generator on Queen Amidala's ship

Qui-Gon convinces Queen Amidala to leave Naboo, believing that the Trade Federation will have her killed if she stays. On board Queen Amidala's Nubian Yacht, the group attempt to get passed the Trade Federation's blockade. Their shield generator fails after being hit by laser fire, prompting a group of astromech droids onto the ship's hull to attempt to fix it.

The only droid to survive the laser barrage is R2-D2, who slowly but surely fixes the generator, allowing the ship to slip through the blockade.

The hyperdrive is damaged though, so the group land on the nearby planet of Tatooine for repairs.
4. Qui-Gon encounters Anakin Skywalker

Upon landing on Tatooine, it is discovered that the hyperdrive is damaged beyond repair. Qui-Gon, Amidala (disguised as a handmaiden), R2-D2 and Jar Jar travel to a local junk dealer to try to find a new hyperdrive. There, the group encounters Watto, the Toydarian owner, and a young slave boy, Anakin Skywalker. At the onset of a sandstorm, Anakin takes the group to his home, where they also meet Anakin's mother, Shmi.

After a discussion over dinner about why they are there, Anakin offers to race in a local pod-race to help them earn the money they need for a new hyperdrive. Shmi is reluctant to let Anakin race, since pod-racing is so dangerous, but Anakin convinces her. Qui-Gon and Watto work out the details of the race, and Anakin is in!
5. Watto and Qui-Gon settle a bet with a chance cube

The junk dealer Watto proves to be a heavy gambler, and Qui-Gon uses that to his advantage. He convinces Watto to provide the entry fee for the race and tells him that if Anakin wins, Watto can keep all the winnings minus the cost of the parts they need to fix Amidala's ship. If Anakin loses, Watto keeps the Nubian ship. Qui-Gon knows that the Nubian is useless without the hyperdrive, so he is willing to let Watto have it for scrap if Anakin loses.

Before the race, Watto tells Qui-Gon that, while he has faith in Anakin's abilities, he is betting heavily on Sebulba, a Dug who has a terrific record in pod-races. Using Watto's over-confidence, Qui-Gon bets the freedom of Anakin and his mother against the pod with which Anakin is racing. Watto says that no pod is worth two slaves, and when Qui-Gon says he'll just put the bet on Anakin, Watto pulls out a blue and red chance cube.

Watto says if it lands on blue, he will free Anakin, and if the cube lands on red, he will free Anakin's mother. Unbeknownst to Watto, Qui-Gon uses the Force to ensure the cube lands on blue. He knows if given the choice to free herself or her son, Shmi would want Anakin to be freed.
6. Sebulba is finally beaten by Anakin in a pod-race

Anakin enters the pod-race, a three lap affair in the heart of the harsh Tatooine landscape. Despite Sebulba's efforts to prevent Anakin from finishing the race, Anakin, guided by the Force, not only finishes the race, but wins, beating out Sebulba for the first time.

As per the bet between Qui-Gon and Watto, Qui-Gon gets the hyperdrive needed for the ship, and Anakin is freed. After a heartfelt goodbye with his mother, Anakin leaves with Qui-Gon, who plans to have Anakin trained in the ways of the Jedi.
7. Padme comforts Anakin, despite worrying about her people

After installing the hyperdrive, the group departs Tatooine for Coruscant, where Queen Amidala plans to ask the Galactic Senate to intervene on the blockade above Naboo. Padme finds Anakin huddled in a corner, looking cold and sad. She tells him about the Queen's worries about her people, and says that things will change when they reach Coruscant, but that she will always remember and care for him.

After landing on Coruscant, Amidala and her handmaids meet up with Palpatine and come before the Senate to plead their case for the people of Naboo. When the Senate refuses to act on Naboo's behalf, Amidala calls for a vote of "no confidence" in the Chancellor.
8. Palpatine is nominated to succeed Valorum as Supreme Chancellor

With the Senate's decision to replace the Chancellor, three beings are nominated to succeed him. One of them is Naboo's own Senator Palpatine. The other two are natives of Malastare and Alderaan. Despite Palpatine's nomination, Queen Amidala decides to return to Naboo, telling Palpatine that her fate will be the same as her people.

Note: the question indicated Palpatine's nomination for the role of Chancellor, not his election, which Queen Amidala congratulated him on at the end of the movie.
9. Padme returns to Naboo with Qui-Gon, Jar Jar, Obi-Wan and Anakin

Queen Amidala returns home to Naboo with the two Jedi and Anakin accompanying her. Qui-Gon tells her that the two of them cannot fight a war for her, but only protect her. She tells them that they will not need to fight, and that she has a plan. Once on the surface of the planet, she sends Jar Jar to speak with the Gungan leaders about fighting with the Naboo against the Trade Federation's forces.
10. Jar Jar Binks finds the underwater Gungan city deserted

Finding Otah Gunga deserted, Jar Jar leads the Naboo force to where the Gungans would have gone into hiding. There, Padme reveals herself as Queen to the Gungan leaders, the Jedi, and Anakin. She pleads with the Gungans to help them defend Naboo against the droid armies of the Trade Federation. Once the Gungans agree, Padme lays out her plan.

The Gungans draw the droids out to fight, leaving the capital less defended. A group of single person star fighters will attack the droid control ship orbiting Naboo to aid the Gungans, while Padme and her squad and the Jedi will infiltrate the palace and take Viceroy Gunray captive, ending the droid threat.
