Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Adam (2022)

Answer: Black

"Black Adam" (2022) is a superhero film out of the DC stable, although the character's history goes back to the debut issue of "The Marvel Family" (or "Shazam Family") in 1945 with Fawcett Comics. Dwayne Johnson takes on the role of the ancient Teth-Adam/Black Adam who is freed from imprisonment into a nation ruled by a crime syndicate.

It is a spin-off from the 1999 superhero film "Shazam!".
2. Bag (2025)

Answer: Black

Michael Fassbender's character is a British counter-intelligence officer who is tasked with tracking down the source of a leak out of five suspects, one of whom is his wife (played by Cate Blanchett). The action is sandwiched between two dinners at home where the suspects are in attendance.

A black bag operation is normally the term for a covert operation breaking into a structure in order to obtain intelligence. In the film it is a code word that the agents use as a reason for keeping secrets from their work colleagues and romantic partners.
3. Bear (2020)

Answer: Black

In the psychological drama "Black Bear" (2020), there are a couple of stories involving the same trio in different roles. The film explores the relationship dynamics between them and, yes, there is a black bear appearance from time to time.
4. and Blue (2019)

Answer: Black

A police action thriller, "Black and Blue" (2019) sees a rookie police officer witness some executions carried out by crooked police officers. It becomes a question of survival until her bodycam recording can exonerate her. In the meantime she has to overcome a soured friendship due to the community's distrust of the local police.
5. Crush (2002)

Answer: Blue

Surfing is the game with "Blue Crush" (2002) following three friends as they mix Hawaiian surf with hotel work. One gets the chance to take part in a surfing competition, with the lure of sponsorship and the chance to improve their situation. There is a "Blue Crush 2", released in 2011 with a surfing theme, however the plot is unconnected.
6. Hawaii (1961)

Answer: Blue

"Blue Hawaii" (1961) was the first of three Elvis Presley films set in Hawaii, the others being "Girls! Girls! Girls!" (1962) and "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" (1965). A musical romantic comedy, the soundtrack was well received with the album spending 20 weeks at the top of the US Billboard Pop Albums chart and a total of 79 weeks in the chart.
7. The ... Brothers (1980)

Answer: Blue

Another film notable for its music, the 1980 film "The Blues Brothers" had its beginnings in a recurring musical sketch of the same name on the "Saturday Night Live" TV series. Both John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd reprise their TV roles. Apart from the music, there are plenty of car chases and a record (at the time) for the most vehicles destroyed in one film.
8. The ... Lagoon (1980)

Answer: Blue

Based on the 1908 romance novel of the same name by Henry De Vere Stacpoole, the film depicts how two young children marooned on a tropical island go through puberty in a society-free environment. It was a commercial success although it received some harsh criticism. Stacpoole's 1923 novel "The Garden of God" was also adapted as the sequel "Return to the Blue Lagoon" (1991).

It was panned by critics as well and failed commercially.
9. Finger (1964)

Answer: Gold

Third in the series of James Bond spy films, "Goldfinger" (1964) takes its name from the antagonist Auric Goldfinger who has plans for the gold in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Bond's task is to thwart these plans. The film introduced many elements that became common to Bond movies such as the long pre-credits sequence, the use of gadgets and the extensive exotic locations.
10. The ... Child (1986)

Answer: Gold

Eddie Murphy stars in the 1986 dark fantasy "The Golden Child". A Los Angeles social worker, he is informed that he is the Chosen One who is destined to save the Golden Child. He is a bit doubtful to begin with. It involves travel to Tibet, mystical powers and a fair amount of action. A commercial success, it was described as a comedy without laughs by a critic with "The New York Times".
11. Ulee's (1997)

Answer: Gold

Starring Peter Fonda, the gold referred to in the film "Ulee's Gold" (1997) is either the honey made by Ulee's bees from tupelo tree nectar or a stash of money on the land hidden by his imprisoned son, or both. His son's fellow bank robbers want their share and force the pace. Fonda was nominated for an Oscar.
12. The ... Compass (2007)

Answer: Gold

The 2007 fantasy film "The Golden Compass" is based on the first of Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy, the 1995 "Northern Lights" which was published in the US as "The Golden Compass". It didn't follow the book that closely but was attacked for its anti-religious sentiment.

The two proposed sequels were scrapped, although a subsequent TV series (2019-2022) covering all three books is truer to the story and was better received.
