Even if the Gothenburg sound made a prominent impact, it was on the Swedish east coast that things first started. Morbid, Nihilist and Carnage were perhaps the earliest ones but Entombed, Dismember, Grave and Unleashed really optimized what their predecessors started and are widely considered to be "The Big Four" of Swedish Death Metal.

Even if David Blomqvist is the prime lead guitarist for Dismember, it was actually Nicke Andersson, at the time the drummer of Entombed, who performed the guitar solos on Dismember's debut album (all but the solo on the song "Override of the Overture" which is performed by Blomqvist). The Dismember logo also originated from Andersson's pen.
