1. Which of the following was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2003?

Answer: Gary Carter

Carter, along with Eddie Murray were the only two inductees into the Hall in 2003. Carter played 19 seasons of baseball, with 12 being in Montreal. As a starter, he never batted over .300, and hit 30 or more home runs twice in his career. He retired in 1992.
2. Which of the following franchises began in 1929?

Answer: No team did

The three teams listed, all began with numerous other teams in Major League baseball by starting in 1901. After the rush of 1901, the next team to begin a franchise was the Angels in 1961.
3. Which of the following catchers went on to manage a team and win a World Series?

Answer: They all did

All these catchers/managers won a World Series. Cochrane, then a catcher with the Athletics, took the Detroit Tigers to a World Series victory in 1935. Scoscia, a former catcher with the Dodgers, won the World Series in 2002 as the Angels' manager. Joe Torre, a powerful catcher for the Braves, took the Yankees to the promised land in 1996.
4. What Major Leaguer had the nickname of "Yaz"?

Answer: Carl Yastrzemski

The Yaz played his entire career with the Boston Red Sox from 1961-1983. 23 seasons in a Red Sox uniform saw him hit 452 home runs, 7 Gold Glove Awards, 2 MVPs, and the winner of the Triple Crown in 1967. He wore the number 8.
5. Which of the following managers won a Manager of the Year Award first?

Answer: Whitey Herzog

Answer: New York Yankees

He started at the rookie age of 28 with the Yankees in 1997, and was only 5-4 in 13 appearances. In his 4th baseball season, he was traded to the Expos and used sparingly. In 2002, he donned the jersey of a Texas Ranger and had a record of 3-8.
