Blackpool FC was formed on 26th July 1887 from St John's Football Club and played at Raikes Hall gardens in the town. They won 2 cups in their first season, and at the end of the second season helped found the Lancashire League.
2. Blackpool FC joined the Football League in 1896 and played Lincoln City away in their first-ever league game. They lost 3-1, but who had the distinction of scoring Blackpool's first-ever league goal?

Answer: Charlie Mount

Charlie Mount managed 5 goals in 9 games, but Jack Parkinson was the top scorer over the first League season with 12 goals, and the Seasiders finished 8th out of 16 teams in the second division.

The boys leaked 74 goals. It was a truly dismal season, but the only way was up and the club had slowly built the team back up, rebuilt half the ground, and they later stood mid-table in the Championship.
