Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. C (Prominent)

The iconic "C" on the Chicago Bears helmet was first adopted in 1962. The original helmet was dark navy blue with a white wishbone "C". Starting in 1983, the Chicago Bears the team sported navy blue helmets with the "C" written prominently in orange.
2. G (Prominent)

The Green Bay Packers play in Wisconsin and adopted the "G" helmet back in 1961. The base helmet is a gold/yellow helmet with a white "G" inside of a green oval. The University of Georgia also sports a helmet featuring a "G" but it has a black and red color scheme.
3. W (Prominent)

The Washington Commanders were previously called the Washington Redskins (1937-2019) and the Washington Football Team (2021-2022). Their new ownership in 2023 wanted to bring back memories the glory days of the Redskins and adopted a helmet style previous to the past. In the 2025 season the team began playing with a burgundy helmet with a prominent gold "W" on it.
4. J (Smaller)

The New York Jets and New York Giants both played their home games in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Each team has helmets with letters on them. The New York Jets' helmet features a green background with the word "Jets" on it. It didn't feature just a single letter, but they're the only team to have a "J" on their helmet.
5. T (Prominent)

In 2018, the Tennessee Titans adopted navy blue helmets with one silver sword-shaped stripe in the center and a prominent "T" displayed. The team continued using the helmet during the 2025 NFL season. The "T" didn't stand for Titans, but stood for Tennessee as the team plays their home games in Nashville.
6. L (Smaller)

You would think that more teams had an "L" on their helmets. But only the Pittsburgh Steelers has an "L" on their helmets. The Steelers have logos on one side of their black helmets. Inside of a white circle, you'll see three diamond shapes with the word "Steelers" displayed.
7. F (Prominent)

Since 1964, the San Francisco 49ers have kept a consistent helmet image. The colors are a metallic gold shell with a white and red stripe on top. There is a red oval with the initials "SF" in white. The "SF" stands for San Francisco in California.
8. U (actually a horseshoe)

The Indianapolis Colts feature a white helmet with a blue stripe on top and a blue horseshoe prominently displayed. While it is not an official "U", the horseshoe looks like a "U" at first glance. This is basic same helmet color scheme seen since the mid-1950s when they were the Baltimore Colts (they became the Indianapolis Colts in 1984).
9. K (Prominent)

Since 1963, you can immediately recognize the bright red helmets of the Kansas City Chiefs. Prominently displayed on their official helmets are a white arrowhead with the letters "KC" in red.
10. D (Smaller)

Since 1963 when the Oakland Raiders played in the American Football League, their helmet scheme has stayed consistent. Their silver and black design is displayed on their helmets. The shell is silver with a black stripe. On the side you see a player wearing a football helmet with swords behind his head. The word "Raiders" appears in silver. They became the LV Raiders in 2020.
