1. In the opening scene, what song is the girl trio singing?

Answer: Give Me the Simple Life

The female trio was billed as the Miller Sisters and were played by Marilyn King, Jean Turrell, and Joan Lucksinger. They performed several songs during the episode, but "Give Me the Simple Life" was first. It was written in 1945 by Rube Bloom and Harry Ruby.
2. Who portrayed the comic in the troupe?

Answer: Joey Forman

His character name was Jackie Flash. Forman appeared in dozens of TV shows as a guest and in a few movies. He passed away at the relatively young age of 53 in 1982 from pulmonary fibrosis.
3. Is Ugly John in this episode?

Answer: Yes

The character was played by English actor John Orchard who was in eleven episodes during the first season of "M*A*S*H", after which his character was written out. Orchard reappeared in the eighth season episode "Captains Outrageous" as Muldoon, an Australian noncom, to whom Rosie is paying "protection".
4. Why was Henry expecting a phone call?

Answer: his wife is having a baby

Henry is extremely nervous and disappointed that he couldn't be home for the birth of his third child. He already had two daughters. It is later revealed that the new baby was a son which makes Henry feel elated.

From time to time, Gary Burghoff gets to show his talent as a drummer. He was an excellent percussionist and had his own musical group, "The We Three".

He had his discharge papers and was paranoid that something would happen to him that would prevent his leaving. He wouldn't even take his papers out of his pocket, fearing he'd get a paper cut. When his transportation arrives, he insists on driving himself, not trusting the driver, but promptly has an accident and suffers broken appendages.
10. What was the last song performed by the Miller Sisters?

Answer: You Make Me feel So Young

This was written in 1946 by Josef Myrow and Mack Gordon. It was used in the 1946 film "Three Little Girls in Blue". It was also a big hit for Frank Sinatra.
