The mess cook gave them to Frank to avoid being put on report for unsanitary kitchen conditions. Frank gave them to Margaret for her continuing affection. Klinger stole them from Margaret's tent.

In remorse, he gave them to Mulcahy, who passed them on to Henry, who gave them back to Hawkeye for doing the appendectomy.
