Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ms. Preecher was once pregnant. Was her baby ever delivered?

Answer: Yes

Io Preecher, pregnant with her newborn, lay upon her bed surrounded by dark curtains. The year was 1987, and Ms. Preecher was in a Manhattan hospital. Later, as the nurses wheeled her through the halls and she cried in pain, she was brought to meet Dr. Hill, there to deliver her baby. Unfortunately, as he told her, she made a deal which could not be reneged. As the baby started to crown, Dr. Hill called for assistance, being helped along by two figures dressed in ornate, black clothing. Soon enough, the baby...or creature...was born.

In the Hamptons in 2023, Dexter and his mother talk about the upcoming lawsuit; he'll be a character witness if he has nothing real to say about the case. Dexter loves his mother and wants to help, but he has reservations. Women stick together, his mother claims, but some men, despite being the alleged stronger sex, won't even stand up for the women who birthed them. They part ways and she claims he'll regret not believing her.
2. As Anna discovers, who turns out to be using Siobhan as their agent?

Answer: Babette

Anna arrives at Siobhan's office to find Babette Eno just leaving, and the younger actress, a rival during awards season, congratulates her on the baby news. The chat turns seemingly passive-aggressive quite quickly with Babette wondering how Anna, ten years her senior, can possibly keep up with the hustle of all these awards shows, especially with the Golden Globes coming. She cuts the conversation short when her phone rings.

When Anna asks Siobhan about Babette, her agent remarks that she doesn't have a non-compete, and this is where their professional boundary needs to exist. Anna has to ask why Siobhan is angry with her and she blames the pregnancy; Siobhan claims she's not. In fact, she has something for Anna-- another box of vitamin supplements to keep her energy up for awards season.

As Anna leaves Siobhan's office she spies Ms. Preecher watching from across the street. Anna nearly chases after her, but is stopped by traffic. The woman's nowhere to be seen when the cars go by.
3. Anna returns to Talia's house and finds which of these filling her freezer?

Answer: Ice cream

Anna returns to Talia's place in the Hamptons and Kamal asks a favour, specifically that she sign a copy of the "Vogue" issue she'd recently been featured on the cover of; his wife, as he claims, is a huge fan. She happily heads to the kitchen and hunts for a pen, but whispering from the direction of the fridge catches her attention. What she finds inside the freezer is shelves and shelves of the same Ben and Jerry's ice cream (Lights, Caramel, Action) filling the inside. Nervously, she checks the photograph hidden in the cutlery drawer, finding that a figure seems to be in the background where it wasn't before. As she stares at the image, it disappears.

Virginia leaves the courthouse with her attorney, glad that she's committed to calling out her ex-husband's abuse. As she departs the building, she turns a corner and comes to discover that the streets have miraculously emptied save for an unleashed, barking dog and two black goats down the nearby alley. Four figures in black garb stride down the street after her. Fortunately, when she returns back the way she came, she returns to the safety of pedestrian traffic. She's met by Ms. Preecher, who lets her know they need to talk.
4. Ms. Preecher originally came to New York to work in which field?

Answer: Fashion

Preecher explains to Virginia that when she was twenty-five she came to New York to attend F.I.T. She didn't get to graduate though; she was scooped up by Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent as their protege. It was the best case scenario for her as a fledgeling designer, but after a one-night stand during Fleet Week, everything changed. She intended to have the abortion, but she was approached by a woman who said she could help. The woman wanted the baby. Many years later, when she attempted to speak out about the incident online, she was labeled a conspiracist, but she knows something is amiss. The woman said she would give her the world for this one thing. Preecher would sell the design of her bags to Marc Jacobs and live off the sales for the rest of her life, but it wouldn't be enough.

Virginia asks if Preecher is telling her all of this because of her husband. She's not though. She's bringing it up because of Dexter, who's in grave danger. These women have been coming for her family for a long time. One of their most powerful players defected because she fell in love with Dexter. Virginia knows-- Adeline. Ms. Preecher tells her to keep quiet; they're probably listening. They surely are.
5. Dr. Hill recommends which of these to Anna to prevent any further complications in her pregnancy?

Answer: To avoid travelling

Anna and Dexter stop off at Dr. Hill's office to ask about a remedy for some minor pain that Anna's been experiencing and the doctor chalks it up to rib flare common in the third trimester (though Anna claims she's in her second). Nevertheless, the doctor says Anna will leave with a list of exercises that will help and he recommends she take baths and prenatal yoga. It's not really enough, Anna says, as her aching is a bit much-- it's a fair amount of sharp pain. Fortunately, Cora, Dr. Hill's secretary, is a pelvic floor specialist and can help her out.

The doctor tells her that in addition to this treatment, there should be no more travel until the pregnancy is through. Anna and Dexter both balk at this considering the Golden Globes coming; the doctor tells them to get used to having their dreams crushed.

Dexter asks Anna if there's anything he can do. She asks that Sonia be invited over for dinner; some girl time might be nice.
6. Anna has Sonia over for dinner. When does Sonia arrive?

Answer: Earlier than expected

Anna spends a session with at Dr. Hill's attending to the pain she'd been experiencing and it appears that the procedure works, minimizing the ache. The therapist tells her that her body will always tell her if something is wrong.

Anna heads to the locker room and takes a shower, but when she starts to run her hair under the water, clumps come out in her hands. The lights begin to flicker as a goat brays nearby, scaring her into a scream. When the lights come back on, she heads out to her locker and finds another doll amongst her belongings. The hair on its head appears to have been partially pulled out.

At Talia's, Nicolette prepares for dinner as Anna welcomes Sonia to the house just a bit earlier than expected. Nicolette appears put off by Sonia, something Anna apologizes for later. Anna also apologizes for her own coldness. Sonia doesn't think anything of it considering the pregnancy and the awards run. In fact, she's brought gifts. They discuss Anna's stalker and Anna has to laugh. At one time, she thought Sonia was stalking her-- she saw her outside the gallery once in green shoes. Sonia jokes that she can't wear green-- the colour washes her out-- and blames Anna's misremembering on pregnancy hormones. It could've been anyone.
7. Who game Hamish Moss the script for 'The Auteur'?

Answer: Siobhan

Siobhan has dinner with Hamish Moss though she spends most of the meal on her phone. He asks her to put down her phone and takes it from her in an attempt to have thirty seconds without screen time. He has one question and it's about the film script she gave him a year before-- the one she told him to put his name on and direct without any information whatsoever; the one that his own agent said won't go anywhere; the one he was told to put Anna Alcott on, but was warned against by everyone else. Now that it's been nominated for eleven Golden Globes, he wants to know what's going on. He asks-- who is she?

Dinner with Sonia is odd as the trio talk about awkward subjects relating to Sonia's art, most of which regards uncomfortable topics. Sonia alchemized her pain into art and it got her everything she wanted in the end. In fact, it landed her at dinner with Anna and Dex. Anna can only smile nervously at the thought.

Anna walks Sonia to her car after the meal, asking an awkward question. She reveals the photograph from the cutlery drawer and asks if she recognizes Dexter's former wife in it, but she doesn't, even though she looks like a less evil twin. Sonia tells her to take care and to call if she needs any help. Her hotel is fifteen minutes away.
8. Anna is surprised to find that her pelvic therapy session is being held at which location?

Answer: Her apartment

Anna finds Nicolette in the kitchen searching through the cutlery drawer and asks how she knows Sonia. Nicolette doesn't have a good answer for that, claiming that she looks like someone she knows. Adeline, Anna says, but that's not right. Unable to get a clear answer, Anna thanks Nicolette for the evening. As she turns to leave, the house manager opens Anna's gift herself, finding the baby's toys inside. She couldn't resist, she says.

Anna heads into the city the next day bound for physical therapy and Kamal brings her back to her apartment; she didn't realize the office gave her home address for the appointment. Cora, the therapist has her get comfortable and down on the table, signing a consent form before she does, and then when the procedure begins, Cora doesn't hold back. Despite Anna telling her to stop, the woman resists. According to Cora, not everyone's ready for the deeper work.
9. Dexter admits, on Anna's request, which of the following?

Answer: That he doesn't believe her

Anna returns to the house in the Hamptons and hears scratching noises coming from downstairs, but before she can descend the staircase, Dexter catches her, asking her what she thinks she hears. He jokes that maybe she thinks the house is haunted.

It's because of his making light of the situation that Anna reveals Cora's forceful therapy session and her discomfort with the event. Dexter laughs, suggesting this is a joke because Cora is a trained, licensed therapist, but Anna is, frankly, shocked her husband won't believe her. She turns away from him and he blames her mood on not being able to attend the Golden Globes. She laughs hysterically at the suggestion that this is about the awards.

The conversation quickly turns. Anna tells him to admit it all-- that he believes she's been lying the whole time. And he does. He says he can't believe a word; none of it makes any sense. He still loves her but he can't believe her. All she can do is thank him for his honesty.
10. Does Anna win the Golden Globe?

Answer: No

After her argument with Dexter, Anna heads to the basement and finds her dolls laying in the still set-up bassinet. Grabbing her phone she puts on a livestream of the Golden Globes and watches the award for Best Actress get announced. Unfortunately, it's not a win for her; the statuette goes to Babette Eno. As Babette takes to the stage, she thanks her fellow nominees. Anna can't keep listening as her own name comes up in the speech, mainly because she starts caughing harshly. She spits up what appears to be sharp teeth. As she looks over to the stone door in the basement wall, she hears laughter beyond it. The camera in the basement watches her.

Anna gets a call from Siobhan and picks up the phone. Her agent asks three questions:
Does Anna want an Academy Award?
Does she want it as much as a baby?
Is she willing to do whatever she says to get it?

Anna says yes to all three before Siobhan remarks she'll call in the morning. As soon as the phone hangs up, Anna is grabbed from behind.

She awakens in the morning in bed and Dexter alerts her to the news of the day. Babette Eno has been killed, decapitated in a car crash.

Anna's phone rings. Siobhan is calling.
