Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1939, a mysterious package was delivered to who of these, forewarning a possible, terrible future?

Answer: The Pope

In the Vatican in the year 1939, a nun carries a wrapped package through through the chapels and corridors, down into the heart of the City. In the lower rooms, she walks through empty, sunlit chambers until she reaches the desk of Pope Pius XII, ready for her arrival.

As she places the box on the table he silently bids her away before performing the sign of the cross. What it contains has dire implications for humankind.
2. Which of these is NOT requested for Marie Laveau's ritual?

Answer: Chalk

The witches at Miss Robichaux's Academy gather in their sitting room, nearly intact as a coven, to listen to Papa Legba's words though he's nervous. With Satan inhabiting a mortal form, there's no knowing what he might be able to overhear of their conversation. Fiona urges him to get to the point (though Marie Laveau suggests having patience), worried that he may be acting crooked with them even now, in spite of their mutual aim.

Marie asks after Queenie's whereabouts, insisting that she be there to assist her with their voodoo ritual, but Papa Legba demands that she respect the balance. With that, she makes her request of the other witches: she needs iron, candles, and rum.
3. Marie warns that if anyone steps outside of the protective circle during her ritual, what fate will befall them?

Answer: Their tongue will be ripped out

The witches pull together what Marie requests and she reminds the girls to do what she says. They need protection, and if they don't follow her every word, the spell will turn on them. After plunging the iron nails into the floorboards, Marie closes the circle with the bottle of Captain Morgan's that Coco delivers. If any of them step outside the circle Marie creates, their tongues will be cut out. Cordelia and Fiona are requested to light their candles at exactly the same time or, else, the iron won't see them. They won't like what's coming for them.

The circle complete, Marie tosses the bottle into the fireplace and chants in Creole. The candles are lit. And the witches are transported somewhere else.
4. According to old writings, God and Satan made a bet that could reward Satan with which of these?

Answer: Control over Earth, Heaven, and Hell

The coven appears in a brightly-lit void, teleporting there instantaneously as Cordelia and Fiona blow out their candles. Taking two iron nails, Marie plunges them directly into Papa Legba's hands and pulls them out again, allowing him to fill a bowl with his blood before he seals them back up. Marie takes this blood and smears it on her master's lips.

He tells her, in a soft voice, to listen close as he makes markings on the floor-- the Roman numerals XIII. His story, he says, starts in 1939, when the world had woken up to war. The new Pope, Pius XII, received a wrapped box, opening it to find access to the wisdom of the Popes who came before him.

The letter inside said it plainly; God and Satan made a bet. If Satan could live one hundred years as a mortal human being on Earth, then the thrones of Earth, Heaven, and Hell, would belong to him.
5. According to Papa Legba, did Satan once inhabit the body of Adolf Hitler?

Answer: No

When Pope Pius XII read the letter from the past Popes, he quickly burned it, fearing that the knowledge would appear in the wrong hands. And with WWII looming and the threat of the Nazis in the near future, he knew that Hitler's warpath would bring devastation across Europe. It stood to reason, in the Pope's mind, that Hitler himself was Satan. He was going to need to cast the devil from him.

Pius staged an exorcism, sending prayers across Europe, but Pius got it wrong; the ritual backfired because Satan was already living amongst mankind in America.
6. Ben discovers that he is, in fact, related to the Devil.

Answer: True

Arriving at the Apollyon, Ben is brought before Satan, appearing in his more youthful form, being pulled through the air by telekinesis. The Devil tells him to pour a couple of stiff drinks-- one for himself and a stronger one for Ben. He'll need it.

Satan assures him that, yes, it was he who was in his memory of the cult. Ben spies a knife on the table while the Devil tells this story, intending to pick it up, but before he can, it's launched across the room and into a painting. There's no getting out of the conversation.

Ben refuses to sell his soul-- Nas is, after all, Satan-- but there's no argument to be had here. As it turns out, Ben is his son. The Devil forces him to sit and hear him out. He will take up the family business and help him reach 100 years old in his physical body, and with that, he'll have dominion over everything. God wanted to show everyone who was boss, but the Devil will shove it right back in his face.
7. Papa Legba indicates that Satan is at war against the witches for what reason?

Answer: The death of the Antichrist

Papa Legba tells the witches that the Devil has been wiling away his time, aiming to reach the age of 100, but he's aged rapidly in the past weeks, accelerating the process to try and win his bet against God. He's fixing to take over any minute, and worse still, killing a coven of thirteen will boost him to the point he needs. All of them are at risk of more killers coming for their heads, contributing to the imbalance of power.

It's war, Papa Legba says, because one of their kind killed his Antichrist.

Mallory has no choice but to fess up. She killed Michael Langdon because he destroyed the whole world in a nuclear apocalypse. She travelled back in time and stopped him, but couldn't say anything. Worse still, Cordelia could never use her second sight to understand the truth. It's all an indication that Mallory will, undoubtedly, be the next Supreme.
8. Satan admits that he would prefer to rule over which of these directly over the other?

Answer: Hell

Instead of musing on whether or not Cordelia will be killed (again) by the rise of a new Supreme, Cordelia pushes Legba to fulfill his end of the bargain with the coven, asking him how to kill Satan and rid the world of his influence. There's only one possibility that might work. When the Devil wins his bet with God, he'll return to the depths of Hell and leave the boy branded as his son to ascend to the throne. If they can find him, they might have a chance, but if it's too late, nothing Papa Legba can say or do will help them.

They know the boy will have a mark and they know that he will be drawn to death. They will have to do something about it.
9. Ben hopes that he can use powers bestowed upon him for good, but he's told, instead, that which of these will occur?

Answer: He will be corrupted

Of course, Ben is with the Devil as they speak, hearing out the fact that Satan hates it on Earth. He'll return to Hell to rule over the predictable damned, but Ben will stay topside and orchestrate big picture moves on his behalf, controlling humans by coming into his demon side, getting whatever he wants as a reward at all times. Ben believes it's a bad deal-- eternal life amongst the living damned-- but Satan says it's an opportunity to manage all the hate he carries, removing death and pain. His life will be absolute pleasure and absolute power, forever. It's what he was made for.

Ben asks if he could do good things with his new power and help people, but Satan says he'll be corrupted, as is the nature of absolute power. Ben forces a smile and accepts his fate.

The witches, meanwhile, accumulate all the materials they can, bringing their spellbooks before Cordelia in hopes that they can find answers.
10. What are the witches doing when Ben arrives at Miss Robichaux's Academy?

Answer: Playing a board game

While Cordelia pores over texts, Mallory asks for forgiveness for what she's done. Cordelia won't hear this, however; Mallory saved the world once before, and she can, perhaps, save it again with her abilities and wisdom. She did as any true Supreme would have done.

Fiona and Marie, meanwhile, realize that they have thirteen witches under their roof, three of whom are Supremes, and one of whom is the voodoo queen. They head out to grab a drink and laugh that the Devil should be afraid.

That evening, Cordelia, Coco, Madison, and Mallory sit in front of the fire and play a game of Sorry. Madison, impatient, claims they're sitting around wasting time like old maids, but Cordelia says that their time before battle is just as important; they need to be calm and listen for the next step to take. That, of course, is when something wicked arrives at their door, and they step into the hallway, prepared, only to find Ben there at the threshold. He knows they're looking for him.
