Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A number of foes, like the Abbests and Portiers, have a weak point. You are able to strike these with which of the following?

Answer: Free Aim

Although all enemies have weaknesses and resistances, early battles of the game also feature foes which show glowing, apparent weak points that can turn out to be a great way to get heavy amounts of damage in for smaller parties. Often appearing as shining orbs, these weak points can be attacked with the Free Aim ability (which all party members have), allowing you to point and shoot with a small burst of energy.

Although some weak points may take a few hits to fully destroy, it's worth the effort; some nevrons will be crippled to the point of being unable to use their strongest attacks.
2. What will happen if you hit a Demineur's Mine?

Answer: It will explode

First seen in the Flying Waters, the Demineur is a nevron-- one in a small handful-- where their weakest point is also their most detrimental. These small, floating enemies proceed into battle with a balloon-like mine in-hand, and it's of the utmost importance to strike the mine before diving into the battle altogether.

A single Free Aim shot to this item will cause it to explode in a massive burst, harming all foes near it and doing a detrimental amount of damage to the Demineur itself. The Demineur is also weak to lightning damage, likely because of its affinity to water and metal.
3. Flying foes are most likely to do which of the following?

Answer: Dodge

Although there aren't too many throughout the continent, nevrons which are able to fly are often the most frustrating, requiring the Expedition to take on a new strategy altogether to deal with the fact that flight provides a heightened ability to dodge all incoming skills and general attacks (shame it doesn't work in the reverse for Lune).

Although some attacks will make it through to flying foes at seeming random (it's just a low chance, really), using Free Aim will bypass that dodge chance, so a build using Free Aim Pictos/Luminas will get rid of these enemies a lot easier.

In later parts of the game, this approach is much more effective against Danseuses.
4. Which of these is not a type of Sakapatate?

Answer: Fiery Sakapatate

First encountered in the Ancient Sanctuary, the Sakapatates initially appear to be large and unwieldy foes, but in reality they're just gestral creations designed to engage in fights-- and they really do love those. Most gestrals would actually enjoy getting involved in combat themselves, and will if you ask them.

As for the Sakapatates, these enemies often come with inherent weak points and, due to their heft, strike with massive damage, sometimes by using a dead gestral as a weapon. If defeated, these enemies will come in for one last blow, collapsing on the party to do a last bout of damage.
5. With every attack the Greatsword Cultist will give itself which of the following?

Answer: Shields

Appearing for the first time in the Stone Wave Cliffs, the Greatsword Cultist is adept at empowering itself with every single attack, but the way it does that is by sacrificing some of its own health in the process. This nevron has two skills, the first of which involves making its blade larger for a combo that hits all three party members and the second of which involves taking a massive jumping swing.

In all cases, the sacrificed health leads to temporary empowerment and acquired Shields, so party members need to pile on with multiple attacks to keep it at bay.
6. Some enemies, like Stalacts and Danseuses, can flip back and forth between stances. Which powers can they transition between?

Answer: Fire and ice

There are only a few nevrons which can accomplish this, and one boss, Gargant, can do it as well, and it often leads to a bit of clever planning and strategy in battle. Essentially, if a Stalact (for instance) is attacked with either fire or ice, it will enervate itself with that element, effectively making the opposite its new weakness and absorbing energy from the new stance.

Although all party members can technically take on skills that allow them to fight with elemental powers (and weapons which do the same), it may mean needing to reassign roles to your three active characters on the fly to accommodate.
7. Which of these is immune to Dark attacks?

Answer: Obscur

Clair and Obscur, while obviously connected to the game's title, are enemies on the tougher side. You won't encounter these foes until you're in the Monolith, and they'll appear scattered throughout the different environments you encounter, often standing in the way of the zone exits along the otherwise linear path. Clair is white while Obscur is black, and while both attack with swords, they share similar techniques for parrying's sake. Clair will nullify Light attacks; Obscur nullifies Dark. Clair shields while Obscur enrages.

The two foes are fought together-- with a Mime-- about halfway along the path through the Monolith. To beat them easily, it'd best to use the opposing energy type as a weakness.
8. Pétanks appear in how many different colours?

Answer: Five

Quite the unique foe, Pétanks appear in a number of locations (both story areas and side-locations) throughout the continent and they carry valuable loot of all sorts. The catch is that if you approach a Pétank, it'll flee quicker than you can, so you'll need to corner it into a distinctive spot to get a First Strike on it and commence the battle.

In the actual fight, the Pétank has a couple of quirks. First off, it'll flee after only three or four rounds of battle. Secondly, the colour of the Pétank denotes the abilities it brings to the fight. Whether it glows blue, green, yellow, red, or purple will determine if it has the ability to shield, for instance, or the capability to summon additional nevrons.
9. Mimes will start each battle by doing which of the following?

Answer: Making a wall

Mimes are found all over the continent, and most of the time, they drop unique items including wardrobe pieces, records, and weapons. And each one is a bit different, at least in the way they look, because they'll showcase pieces they drop. There are thirteen Mime fights in the game; all of them are optional.

Battles between Mimes are quite similar to one another since they will always start the battle by creating an invisible wall to protect themselves from significant damage. Additionally, they'll use the same two attacks-- one with a strange, invisible hammer, and one as a hand-to-hand combo. The goal in each of these fights is to build up the Mime's break meter, making it more susceptible to heavy damage, and this can be done with successful parries and strong break skills.
10. There are a number of Clair and Obscur foes found throughout the inside the Monolith. You fight them together, along with which other enemy, along this route?

Answer: Mime

The road through the interior of the Monolith is a bit of a trip through experience as it seems to route near-seamlessly through environments that you'll have already encountered throughout the adventure. What this means is facing most of the enemies seen throughout "Expedition 33", but periodically you'll also need to fight Clair or Obscur, each a type of enemy that can either shield (if Clair) or enrage (if Obscur) the rest of their party and wield damaging weapons that cause their own status effects.

Clair is weak to Dark attacks while Obscur is weak to Light, and each will nullify their energy of choice.

There is one instance along the route here where you can descend into a cavern and fight a waiting Mime, but he'll be flanked by Clair and Obscur, two foes which would otherwise be fought individually. The reward is a single cosmetic, but at this point, it's just about getting rid of those darn Mimes.

Even further along the route, you'll find a combined optional boss, known as Clair Obscur, which fuses the two together.
