Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Throughout the 'Pacific Break' season of 'Fortnite', players could obtain an outfit called The Bride. What film series inspired this outfit?

Answer: Kill Bill

Even before the season had kicked off, 'Pacific Break' had become associated with the 'Kill Bill' series of films. Pre-season advertising for the game included a promotional event called 'Yuki's Revenge', a short movie directed by Quentin Tarantino that featured the voices of Uma Thurman (as The Bride) and Tarantino himself (replacing the late David Carradine as Bill).

The Bride appeared as a character throughout the run of 'Pacific Break' and was particularly prominent in the first few weeks of the season. Once a player had obtained sufficient experience through successful gameplay (or through purchasing enough in-game currency, V-Bucks), they would be able to obtain the outfit of The Bride as well as additional styles for the outfit that included Beatrix Kiddo (the name of Uma Thurman's character in the films).
2. Controversially, 'Pacific Break' broke with the tradition of players entering a 'Fortnite' map by jumping from the Battle Bus. What alternative method of entry was introduced during this season?

Answer: Surfing

The Battle Bus is a key feature of the core game modes of 'Fortnite'; traditionally, a player would join a battle by jumping from this peculiar mode of transport (essentially a bus attached to a hot air balloon). Before jumping it would be courteous to thank the bus driver and a player who does so receives a bonus.

'Pacific Break' somewhat controversially interrupted this much-loved facet of gameplay when, dictated by the storyline, the Battle Bus was damaged and required repair. An alternative method for entering battle - inspired by the Pacific Coast - was introduced whereby players were required to ride in on their surfboard, catching a wave that would propel them into combat. Once the Battle Bus was repaired, it was brought back into service; both entry mechanisms persisted for the remainder of the season.
3. The 'Pacific Break' map featured a theme park called Wonkeeland. The name of this location was changed to Cartmanland during a collaboration with which animated show?

Answer: South Park

The irreverent animated comedy, 'South Park', collaborated with 'Fortnite' for a limited period of time during 'Pacific Break'. Whilst the show's takeover of the game's main map (Battle Royale) was minimal compared to 'The Simpsons' collaboration that took place in the preceding mini-season, the influence of the show on gameplay was inescapable.

Alongside Wonkeeland being restyled Cartmanland (taking the name of 'South Park' character, Eric Cartman), players were exposed to gameplay mechanics such as immediate revival upon elimination when in possession of Kenny's Respawn Token (a wonderful nod to Kenny's inexplicable and repeated ability to return from the dead) and teleportation across a network of "port-a-potties" called "flushers".
4. The 'Pacific Break' season of 'Fortnite' overlapped with Winterfest 2025. Which green and black outfit could be obtained during this particular iteration of Winterfest?

Answer: Slytherin Robes

'Fortnite' brought back its seasonal offering, Winterfest, for the sixth time from mid-December 2025 through early-January 2026. Alongside Christmas-themed items such as the Snowball Launcher, Sneaky Snowman and Blizzard Grenade, a series of outfits were released inspired by J.K Rowling's 'Harry Potter' universe.

These outfits (skins) were grouped into the Celebration of Hogwarts Bundle; the base outfit took the form of the famous robes worn by students at Hogwarts and different styles were available for each of the four houses: Gryffindor (red), Ravenclaw (blue), Hufflepuff (yellow) and Slytherin (green).

Doctor Strange's Cape of Levitation (Marvel) is typically red or blue and was not made available to players during 'Pacific Break'.
5. One of the named locations in the 'Fortnite' map used throughout 'Pacific Break' was Fore Fields. This location took the form of which of the following?

Answer: Golf Course

The naming of Fore Fields followed the longstanding 'Fortnite' tradition of using alliterative names for key places in the game, though not all locations adhere to this convention. The game has featured many sports-themed locations over the years including the soccer field at Pleasant Park and the basketball court at Lazy Laps.

Fore Fields took the form of a glamorous coastal golf course and was flanked by Sandy Strip to the west and Painted Palms to the north-west.
6. Inspired by a famous landmark in Los Angeles, what 'Fortnite' location was spelled out in large white letters on the side of a mountain throughout 'Pacific Break'?

Answer: Battlewood

Battlewood Boulevard, the site of a large theatre, was one of the urban areas in the Golden Coast map of 'Fortnite' and overlooking the settlement - in the style of the real world example of "Hollywood" - was a sign spelling out "Battlewood". In keeping with the cinematic vibe adopted by this region of the map, Battlewood Boulevard was bordered by another named location, Sus Studios.
7. 'Pacific Break' afforded 'Fortnite' players the opportunity to obtain an outfit of which character from the 'Back to the Future' film franchise?

Answer: Marty McFly

The collaboration between 'Fortnite' and 'Back to the Future' during the 'Pacific Break' season brought with it a number of desirable items. Chief amongst these items were a couple of outfits in the style of Marty McFly (played in the films by Michael J. Fox) and Doc Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd). Biff Tannen also featured in the 'Back to the Future' films but this character did not give rise to an outfit during 'Pacific Break'.

The 'Back to the Future' set also included a superb piece of digital art in the form of a loading screen titled 'Peel to the Future', featuring Marty McFly, Doc Brown and Peely (a 'Fortnite' fan favourite that presents as a banana) in the midst of a lightning storm, entering the famous DMC DeLorean.
8. The 'Pacific Break' season of 'Fortnite' featured many bosses including a blue alien called Human Bill. When eliminated, a legendary version of which weapon was dropped by this boss?

Answer: Arc-Lightning Gun

Human Bill is a recurring 'Fortnite' character that takes the form of a stereotypical alien (large hairless head and large black eyes). The in-game tagline for this character is "he's just here to observe". Far from just observing matters in 'Pacific Break', Human Bill would become an active participant - and arguably one of the more challenging bosses to defeat - if a player attacked him or one of his henchmen.

The boss form of Human Bill would drop a legendary Arc-Lightning Gun upon elimination, one of the strongest weapons of the season; the gun continuously discharged destructive lightning rays for up to ten seconds.
9. Moving somewhat away from the Pacific Coast, the Area 51 region of which US state inspired the 'Pacific Break' location, Classified Canyon?

Answer: Nevada

Classified Canyon was one of the more important locations throughout 'Pacific Break' with a large number of quests being centred on the region's underground base as well as in the area immediately surrounding the mysterious UFO-containing facility. Classified Canyon took its inspiration from the (in)famous Area 51 in the south of the US state of Nevada and - in keeping with the extraterrestrial theme - a character named The Visitor (Reality Unknown) could be found wandering around the region's barren landscape.
10. Rather unusually, the Battle Pass associated with 'Pacific Break' contained a pair of Kicks (footwear) called Air Mag. What company is associated with Air Mag sneakers?

Answer: Nike

Nike released a limited number of the Air Mag sneakers in 2011 as a means to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation. This was fitting given that Michael J. Fox's character in 'Back to the Future II' (1989), Marty McFly, sported such a pair during the film. The shoe itself is light grey with the famous Nike tick in white.

Kicks in 'Fortnite' typically have to be bought and are almost never included in a season's Battle Pass. This was only the second time in the game's history where a pair of Kicks were made available in the Battle Pass (making them readily obtainable through game play alone); the first such occasion was when the Air Jordan 1 High OG 'BlackToe Reimagined' (long-winded name right!) was included in the Battle Pass for Chapter 5: Season 5 (November 2024).
