Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A quirky aesthetic mechanic about Nuketown stems from the Demonic Announcer, the voice who announces power ups when players pick them up and has done so since "World at War". This became the first map in Zombies history to actually change the Demonic Announcer in the middle of the match. What round does this occur at?

Answer: Round 25

From rounds 1-24, it is Samantha Maxis who poses as the Demonic Announcer. From round 25 and onward for the rest of the match, this becomes Richtofen.

Though seemingly random, there is actually a lore specific reason for this. On round 25, players can look at the sky and witness a series of explosions in outer space. This is meant to represent the exact moment in which Samantha and Richtofen switch bodies, which takes place on the Moon map. This is something players actually directly experience in "Black Ops 1", so the connection is pretty neat.
2. Who are the playable characters for this map?

Answer: The CDC or CIA

At random, players will load in as either a squad of CDC agents, or CIA agents. There is no structural difference between the two, merely visual.
3. What is the reason for even being at Nuketown? Why are there zombies at this nuclear weapon testing site?

Answer: An Element 115 explosion

Nuketown, despite what it may seem, is not actually a traditional nuclear weapons facility. That is what the federal government would essentially be telling the US Citizens. What Nuketown actually is (or was) would be a Broken Arrow facility. Broken Arrow, attempting to mine Element 115, inadvertently caused an explosion of the material to envelope Nuketown. E115 is the catalyst which turns people into zombies, so it stands to reason that anybody at or near Nuketown would have been 'turned' by the explosion.
4. Wandering around the map, it is possible to find and interact with an important character, one who conveniently had a fallout shelter they hid in to evade the events which took place here. What character can be talked to here?

Answer: Marlton Johnson

Marlton briefly has some dialogue for the player before he will audibly slam a door inside his shelter shut and go silent for the rest of the match. Nothing tangible actually happens, it's just a neat thing to discover while exploring the map.
5. The most memorable gimmick about Nuketown by far is how players acquire perk machines. Other than opening doors to reach perk machines, how are players primarily meant to get perks?

Answer: Waiting until they get lucky

Infamously, perks are completely randomized on this map in terms of when they appear. The only 'rule' is that all machines will spawn on the map no later than round 25, and no later than r25, the player will have access to everything. Before then, though, it's a complete mystery as to when various perks can appear.

They will literally fall right out of the sky with little warning, at a random location. The only exception to this is that solo players will always get access to Quick Revive straight away on round 1.
6. Very, very quietly, this was the first time since Nacht der Untoten in "World at War" that a power up was not present in a Zombies map. Which power up is missing from Nuketown?

Answer: Carpenter

It would be some kind of hilarious irony if the Nuke power up was not available on the map literally called 'Nuke'town. Thankfully, that is not the case and Nukes are front and center here.

This was actually the very first map in all of Zombies history to not feature a single rebuildable barrier. Zombies either rush into the map from outside playable boundaries, or they rise from the ground. They do not break into windows traditionally, as there are no barriers, so there would be no function or purpose for Carpenter whatsoever.
7. The Nuketown Multiplayer map features a large red truck in the dead center. This truck has been responsible for countless memories in Multiplayer, so it's not surprising it was given a function in the Zombies version. How many points does it cost to get inside the truck?

Answer: Three thousand (3,000)

The expense may seem absurd and is likely to deter players initially from wanting to access it. Inside the truck, however, is a litany of useful goodies that will make it worthwhile. There are a handful of wall buys inside the truck, the Galvaknuckles, the Bowie Knife, the AK74u, Claymores and Semtex Grenades. The Bowie Knife is outclassed by the Galvaknuckles, but otherwise, these all have the potential to make a major impact on a typical game of Nuketown.

Plus, opening the red truck gives the player an extra escape route if running a map-wide train. So there's also that.
8. The classic "Nuketown Population" sign to the side of the red truck is actually not dormant. The counter next to 'population' is constantly on a 99 second timer, counting down from 99 to 01, triggering an event at 00, then starting from 99 again. What happens at 00?

Answer: A static power up alternates

In the backyard of both the yellow and white house lies a door leading to a small room with a power up. This power up can be anything from the power ups available on the map. Every 99 seconds, the exact power up changes randomly. To access the power up, the player must spend 3,000 points to open the door leading to it.

The power up can only be collected once per game. However, even when both power ups have been claimed, the population counter, serving as a timer, will continue to run.
9. What is this map's wonder weapon?

Answer: Ray Gun/Mark 2

The classic Ray Gun and its Mark 2 counterpart make up the only available wonder weapons on this map. Neither are capable of dealing infinite damage. Combined with the lack of infinite damage dealing traps, and surviving to high rounds on Nuketown is a lot harder than it appears at first glance.
10. Nuketown Zombies was host to an assault rifle that did not appear on any other map in all of "Black Ops 2". What assault rifle was this?

Answer: M27

Statistically, the M27 is basically a copy/paste of the Commando from "Black Ops 1", which was a fan favorite in that game. As such, it should be little surprise that the M27 filled its spiritual predecessor's shoes brilliantly, as this is a very powerful, very accurate and surprisingly speedy assault rifle.

When Pack-a-Punched, the M27 becomes the Mystifier. It is basically a laser rifle at this point, as the recoil is utterly nonexistent, the damage is pristine and it even gets a reticle to help the player be even more on point.

The only disappointment about the M27 is that it bafflingly would not appear on any other map in this entire game.
