Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The title 'Origins' is meant to directly depict the debut of a particular crew of four. What crew debuts as playable on this map?

Answer: Primis

The Primis versions of Tank Dempsey, Edward Richtofen, Nikolai Belinski and Takeo Masaki greatly defer from their Ultimis selves. The Primis versions are younger, less grizzled but far, far less stereotypical (Nikolai is not a vodka-obssessed Russian, Tank Dempsey is less of a blatant loud mouth American soldier, so on) and much more down to earth in general.

As such, while the dialogue is less cartoonishly hilarious, the Primis versions are far more fleshed out and designed to be more like actual people.
2. The starting pistol on this map is exclusive to Origins, the Mauser C96. This pistol may seem weak and hapless, but when Pack-a-Punched, the Boomhilda becomes a force of nature. Uniquely, the Boomhilda does not fire regular bullets. What does it fire?

Answer: Laser beams

One term which may be used to describe a really accurate gun is "it fires like a laser beam", which is clearly a compliment. However, the Boomhilda quite literally fires laser beams just like the Ray Gun Mark 2. Moreover, the Boomhilda actually outclasses the Ray Gun Mark 2 at everything except headshot damage. As such, it is not inaccurate to suggest that the Boomhilda is literally better than some wonder weapons.

The one brutal downside to the Boomhilda is that this is the sole, only non-infinite damage dealing weapon to not benefit in anyway from Double Tap. It isn't just the only non-infinite weapon in "Black Ops 2", but it's the only non-inf weapon in all of "Call of Duty" history to not benefit from DT 2.0. This is truly tragic and prevented the Boomhilda from being looked at as one of the greatest guns in Zombies history. It's still an absolutely amazing gun, but it could have been even better.
3. Where is this map set?

Answer: France

When loading the map as a solo player, like any map, a cutscene will play. The cutscene starts by explictly stating that the setting is a dig site in Northern France in 1918.
4. The player will find that power isn't tied to a single switch in this map; the player must interact with and turn on six power conversion generators across the map. When initiating an activation, a very familiar voice will inform them of their progress up until the generator is active. Whose voice is it?

Answer: Dr. Maxis

Of course, the events on this map took place far, far before Buried, so Maxis is still endeavoring to reunite himself with a lost Samantha Maxis whose soul is stuck in Agartha.

It isn't know what Maxis' connection to the power conversion generators is exactly. But, his voice is heard through the robotic device, informing the player of their progress when they are trying to power up a generator.
5. This map features, bar none, the most terrifying boss zombie ever devised, and one that the playerbase both respects and fears more than any other. What enemy debuts on this map?

Answer: Panzersoldat

This is easily the most terrifying enemy to face in all of "Black Ops 2", and it isn't even close. On round 8, then every four rounds after, a mapwide alarm will play for several seconds and the big man will descend from the sky.

The Panzersoldat is capable of two things: setting players on fire if they get too close with its flamethrower, but even scarier yet, the Panzersoldat can launch a grapple and, if it connects, it will begin to slowly pull players towards it, along with any nearby zombies, then roast them with said flamethrower. The Panzersoldat has a lot of health as well, and will prove durable.

While all of this may make it seem as if the community would detest this monster, it's actually arguably the single most beloved boss zombie ever made.

The Panzersoldat, for as ruthless and dangerous as it is, serves as an ultimate equalizer on this map. Players can get to be extremely powerful between craftables, the wonder weapons and the features this map offers. The Panzersoldat ensures that the game never gets to be too easy for the player as, no matter how powerful they get, every fourth round when the big man shows up will quickly turn games chaotic, dangerous and fast paced.

The Panzersoldat was actually responsible for killing so many players that, when it returned in "Black Ops 3", Treyarch severely nerfed it and rendered it basically impotent in the Der Eisendrache map it appears in.
6. This map debuted the iconic Wunderfizz machine. What does Wunderfizz do?

Answer: Give a random perk

This is basically the Mystery Box, only for perks and not weapons. For 1500 points, the player will be given a random perk that they can accept or decline.

Funny enough, the introduction of Wunderfizz was responsible for technically giving solo players an infinite amount of lives. Ordinarily, solo players can only purchase Quick Revive three times, before the machine disappears. Once it disappears and the player goes down again, they would be on their very final life with no way to get more. Wunderfizz is capable of dispensing Quick Revive even when the QR machine leaves the map, so it is still possible to gain extra 'lives' through it.
7. Three giant robots will patrol the map, stomping about as they walk around. These robots actually have names. What is one of them?

Answer: Odin

The robots are named Freya, Odin and Thor. They do not possess unique qualities between the three of them, and it is likely they were mainly given names because they are significant parts of the map's Easter Egg Main Quest, and giving them names would make it easier for players to coordinate.

If the player is stomped on directly by a robot, predictably, they will be immediately downed. Juggernog will not let them survive this, either. As such, it is imperative to get out of the line of a robot's patrol path when they arrive.
8. A whopping three power ups debuted on this map. Blood Money and Empty Perk Bottle are pretty straightforward, but Zombie Blood is not. What does Zombie Blood do?

Answer: Hide the player from enemies

Acquiring Zombie Blood is essentially as if the player vanishes from existence for a period of time. Zombies and the Panzersoldat will completely ignore the player while the power up is active.

As Origins does not feature a ton of room to evade and dodge zombies, Zombie Blood can be crucial in giving them a bit of a breather, letting them safely reposition and possibly use the time to kill the disoriented enemies as well.
9. The Maxis Drone is a buildable utility. This bizarre piece of equipment is capable of doing a lot. What is one thing it can do?

Answer: Revive allies

The Maxis Drone, when deployed, will hover near the player who deployed it. For a brief period of time, it will prioritize killing zombies which get close. If the player who used it goes down, the drone is capable of reviving them. It will also revive nearby allies, prioritizing reviving over killing zombies. Finally, the drone is capable of retrieving power ups, though it will consistently prioritize killing zombies or reviving others over doing this.
10. The Shovel is a utility players can pick up right at spawn. Various dig spots around this excavation site can be dug up with the Shovel, for a random reward... hopefully. What is one thing the player can dig up?

Answer: A live grenade

Most things which players can dig up will benefit them, but they can be thrown for a couple of surprises. A live grenade set to blow shortly is one such surprise, but the player could also dig up a zombie as well.

For rewards, the player can potentially dig up a Mauser C96, Ballista sniper rifle, Remington 870 MCS or a Zombie Blood power up. If the weather is specifically snowing, it is also possible to dig up a piece of the Ice Staff.
11. Maybe the funniest weapon in all of Zombies, the One Inch Punch is deceptively brutal. On launch, it became easily the strongest melee attack in all of Zombies, a distinction it would hold up until late "Black Ops 3". Until what round can the One Inch Punch one shot a zombie?

Answer: 19

The One Inch Punch beats out the Galvaknuckles, which are a one shot until round 14. In order to acquire it, players must fill four different soul boxes around the map by killing 30 zombies which are standing near them. Once this is done, any Ritual of the Ancients location may be visited to acquire the One Inch Punch.
12. This was the first Easter Egg Main Quest to actually have a numerical list of displayable steps to the player for completion. Of course, this isn't a comprehensive "to do" list, and each step is simply identified by a title. The titles of each step are actually a call back to what?

Answer: A campaign mission in "Black Ops 1"

The names of all eight steps to this Easter Egg Main Quest are:

1. Secure the keys
2. Ascend from darkness
3. Rain fire
4. Unleash the horde
5. Skewer the winged beast
6. Wield a fist of iron
7. Raise hell
8. Freedom

These steps are the exact same steps given to the player by Viktor Reznov in "Black Ops 1's" iconic Vorkuta mission. Here, the steps are used to escape a prisoner of war camp. In Origins, they are used to free a little girl's soul from cosmic torture.
13. In order to do this Easter Egg Main Quest, apart from follow explict steps given, there are two 'rules' players must abide by to advance the quest. What is one of them?

Answer: Keep all power generators active

While all of these things would be very nice to have, there are only two concrete rules: players must have all four Staves of the Ancients built, and all six power generators must remain active.

Constructing the staves is a one-time thing that does not need to be repeated. However, every four rounds, a swarm of Templar Zombies will appear to attack a random generator. If let alone for long enough, they will disable this generator and force the player to turn it back on.

Being ready to defend generators is of paramount importance, as if just one of them is inactive, it will forcibly halt any Easter Egg Main Quest progress until it is turned back on. Steps simply won't be able to finish unless all generators are on. That includes even the very final step, where all the player has to do is step through a portal to receive their ending cutscene; the portal will simply not function if all six generators are not active.
14. The very final step before finishing the Easter Egg Main Quest is to "raise hell". Here, all players in the game session must convene in one place. Here, they must specifically combine to kill 100 Templar Zombies. Where does this take place?

Answer: Crazy Place

The Crazy Place is where this entire quest will come to an end. It is worth noting that Templar Zombies killed do not contribute towards the required 100 unless all players are present in the Crazy Place. If even just one is off somewhere else, this step of the quest will remain in limbo until they get with the program.

Worth noting is that, ordinarily, the Crazy Place is a pretty unsafe area to remain for long. This is because enormous rocks randomly fall from the ceiling that obstruct the player's movement, and they remain in place for several moments. Trying to run an undead horde while not being able to reliably map out one's movement plan is a recipe for disaster.

However, during this specific step, the rocks go dormant. The entire Crazy Place is wide open, completely rock free. This makes the Crazy Place out to suddenly be arguably the single safest place to run a horde in all of "Black Ops 2". As such, a popular strategy for those seeking a world record, or even a personal best, for highest round survived, is to advance the quest to this point, but then intentionally refrain from ending the quest, as to take advantage of the favorable terrain.
15. Once those 100 Templars are dead, players only need to step through a portal which appears to end the whole quest with a big, fat W. The reward for victory is a special cutscene. This cutscene was responsible for causing immense outrage within the game's community. Where does it take place?

Answer: The House

The House is run by Dr. Monty, although he did not enter the video game narrative at this point, so back in 2012, nobody knew of his existence unless you read the comic books. Inside The House are four children; kid versions of the Primis crew, Tank Dempsey, Edward Richtofen, Takeo Masaki and Nikolai Belinski. It shows the four children playing with action figure versions of various zombie figures, such as a Panzersoldat, zombies, and even Samantha Maxis herself.

At the time, this cutscene threw the community into outrage. The scene itself implies that the entire Zombies narrative was just some action figure game being played by children. Of course, events in "Black Ops 3" and onward would thoroughly disprove this, as well as, again, the comic books. But, if one didn't read the comics, it was a period of three years where they likely believed the whole narrative was just a kid's game.
