Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When taking Elizabeth on a date to the Paulownia Mall, she will donate an excessive amount of coins to a nearby fountain making a wish. How much yen does she donate here?

Answer: One million

The game describes it as Elizabeth having a 'bulging coin purse' before she herself tells the player she brought exactly one million yen.
2. When the player reaches rank 7 in their social with Akihiko, there is a chance the game will tell the player that Akihiko must "mature himself" for his social to progress. What needs to happen to Akihiko for the player to go beyond rank 7?

Answer: His Persona must evolve

This is a scripted event that the player cannot influence. After Shinjiro dies or is rendered comatose, Akihiko will visit either his grave or Shinjiro in his hospital bed. He will lament his inability to do anything about what happened briefly, before realizing that this is not what Shinjiro would've wanted him to do.

After taking some time to steel his resolve, Akihiko's Persona will evolve from Polydeuceus into Caesar. His social can now be advanced beyond rank 7.
3. Which of the following is one item Koromaru can pick up while the player walks him?

Answer: Homunculus

Homunucli negate the effects of an instakill attacking, essentially sacrificing themselves to block it. They are incredibly useful for end game bouts with the Reaper, Margaret or Velvet Room Attendants.
4. Thought of as the hardest fight in the entire game, and one of the hardest in "Shin Megami Tensei", doing battle with Elizabeth at the end of the Monad Depths requires an extreme amount of not just luck, but attention to detail. There are 'rules' to this fight that, if broken, will result in immediate defeat. Which of the following must the player refrain from doing in this fight?

Answer: Using 'Null' Passives

If Elizabeth tries to attack the player, but the player is using an item or a Persona with a Null passive that blocks the attack she was about to use, she will instead use a Megidolaon attack that deals a scripted 9999 damage and is guaranteed to kill in one hit. Elizabeth will also do this if the player hasn't defeated her after 80 turns have come and gone, if the player tries to use the Armageddon item on her when she has 10,000 or more health remaining, or if the player brings any teammates at all. They must fight her one on one, they must defeat her in 80 turns or less, and they must do so using an item, Persona, or Personas, which do not Null any attacking move she uses. Drain or Repel are considered 'Null' passives for this context. The player is allowed to have a Nulling Persona equipped, they just have to make sure that this Persona doesn't accidentally Null an attack Elizabeth is about to use.

It should be noted that Armageddon is just about always needed to actually win the fight, but the player must ensure to time their usage of it in a way that Elizabeth would not survive the attack. The item deals 9,999 damage, so the player must wait until Elizabeth has less health than this before they use it. If they fail to time it properly, she will use Diarahan to heal to full health, then she will end the fight with a scripted 9,999 Megidolaon. Adding to this complication is that she gets to move twice in one turn. If she damages herself and ends up under 10,000 HP before her second turn, she will almost always heal herself with Diarahan with her second turn, and this will essentially assure defeat for the player, as they would never have enough time left in their 80 turn limit to once again get Elizabeth into range for Armageddon to finish her off. So they must make sure that Elizabeth ends up at less than 10,000 HP *after* she has taken both of her turns for that round.
5. Orpheus Telos is the evolved form of Orpheus, the player's starting Persona. He is the most restricted, difficult to obtain in the game. How can the player unlock the ability to fuse him?

Answer: Max all their social links

After all of the player's social links are maxed, Orpheus Telos will be available for fusion the next time they visit the Velvet Room. Unlike this game's successors, Orpheus Telos can actually be fused without the need for New Game Plus making it possible, albeit extremely difficult, to obtain the game's platinum trophy in just one playthrough.
6. Fuuka Yamagishi is the navigator for SEES. Like everyone else, she has a life of her own and as a hobby that can be explored during her social link. What is Fuuka's hobby?

Answer: Cooking

Fuuka is sadly not a good cook at all, as she frequently burns food, uses wrong ingredients or incorrect preparation methods which are pretty comically erroneous. Predictably, trying to help her hone her skills becomes a significant part of her social link.
7. The Inari Sushi can be used to duplicate skill cards. After putting in a request, how many days must the player wait to receive their duplicated card?

Answer: Five

Regardless of how strong or weak the skill card may be, the player can return to Inari Sushi in five days to receive their finished product. Inari Sushi will hold onto the card indefinitely however, but it will be predictably lost once the player heads to New Game Plus.
8. If the player chooses the female character, they can witness a funny easter egg where a young version of a very important character from "Persona 4" appears for a brief spell. Which character is this?

Answer: Yukiko Amagi

As the player and friends are in town for a tennis related training camp that lasts for two days, they spend their first night at the Amagi Inn. When initially arriving and later departing, they will be welcomed and seen off by an eleven year old Yukiko Amagi who is working in the front of the hotel. Despite being young, Yukiko is well acclimated and professional to the point of surprising the much older characters involved in this scene.

Yukiko's "BFF", Chie Satonaka, is very briefly mentioned in dialogue towards Yukiko, but Chie is not ever actually seen during this sequence.
9. The dreaded Reaper made his debut in the original iteration of this game, and he was back and ready for more for the remaster. He will appear to the player if they do one of two things. Which of the following will draw the Reaper to the player?

Answer: Staying on a floor for a long time

The 78th floor of Tartarus is a popular place to farm for Onyx, a material which is key in raising the stats of a given Persona. If the player aims to take advantage, however, the Reaper is likely to show up. Another way to get the Reaper to appear is to, during Shuffle Time, select a card which has a large black skull flashing over it.
10. When a character evolves their Persona, which of the following happens?

Answer: Their resistance turns into a Null

Every human member of the team except Shinjiro, whose Persona cannot evolve, has one resistance and one weakness. When their Persona evolves, their weakness remains as is, but their resistance becomes an outright Null. Unfortunately, Koromaru's Persona doesn't ever evolve despite remaining with the team until the end of the game, but he starts with two Nulls right off the bat and, as such, was fairly compensated for this.
11. The final boss of the game, Nyx, has a whopping fourteen whole phases to her fight. When beginning a new phase, she will always utter the same quote to the player before fighting her newest phase begins. What does she say?

Answer: "The Arcana is the means by which all is revealed"

The 'wrong' answers were said by other characters completely, two of the quotes provided being said in different games. Because Nyx uses components of each Arcana in the game, of which there are fourteen, having fourteen phases (while tedious) makes sense.

It also provides clear context to her trademark line. Each phase with the exception of one has 1,500 HP, and the exception is the Death Arcana phase, her last, which has 6,000 HP.
12. Two in-game months after the final boss is defeated is the ever emotional occurrence of the player's character finally passing away. As it happens, they survived for two months while not even being in possession of a soul. How does the character achieve this, according to the game?

Answer: Willpower

Before the protagonist sacrifices his/her soul to defeat Nyx, he/she will agree to promise the others to meet on the rooftop of Gekkoukan High School on the graduation day of that year's senior class. Graduation day comes two months after the fight with Nyx ends.

Although doubtlessly corny, the game will inform the player that their character's willpower in meeting this promise allowed them to essentially live, literally soulless, for two months until this promise was finally fulfilled. At this point, the game fades to white and the credits roll.
13. When finishing the game, the game will inform the player that the male and female character of this game both have 'canon' names. What is the 'canon' name for the male character?

Answer: Makoto Yuki

There is a little bit of confusion as to how the first name is pronounced, since it is never actually said out loud in the English version of the game. However, the name is typically pronounced "Ma-koo-toh" despite it being pronounced differently for "Persona 5's" Makoto (Ma-koh-toe) Niijima, possibly because she is female, whereas the name is most commonly used for males.
14. What is the 'canon' name for the female character?

Answer: Kotone Shiome

The name is pronounced "Koh-toh-nay She-oh-nay". Interestingly, no character in this game will use honorifics when referring to the player if they choose to use the female character's canon name. Moreover, Mitsuru Kirijo will often refer to them as just 'Shiome' which is very informal. Similarly, Akihiko Sanada will only ever call the player 'Kotone' without any honorifics and will never use her last name.
15. When leaving their previous playthrough behind and heading for New Game Plus, which of the following is one thing the player can take with them?

Answer: Money

The player will, in all, be allowed to retain their Persona Compendium progress, access to the Monad Depths and Paradigm Door, social skills, equipment and money. Items, not equipment, will unfortunately be lost in transition, much like equipped Personas and Social Ranks.
