"Predecessor" - The Offlane Role Quiz

This is largely why the Offlane gets a reputation for being *the* lane for players seeking a good 1v1 fight amidst a team match. The Offlane is not directly in the center of the action like the Midlane. The natural consequence of being stuck in the middle of the Jungle is that Midlaners will find their lane more frequently invaded by the enemy Jungler.

The Duo lane is obviously no place for a good 1v1, so the Offlane is where the most 1v1 action in a typical match takes place.

Answer: Steel

In addition to fighting the Offlane like a glove, Steel's talents are also in high demand for the Support role. He is recommended for this role as well, and is genuinely fantastic at performing either function.

Answer: XP

This Monster is a green color, juxtaposed to the Gold Buff which is yellow. Other than that, it functions the exact same and yields a nice bonus in XP gain to whomever lands the last blow on it.

Answer: Serath

With a paltry 1, Serath is kept afloat by her ridiculous 8 in Basic Attack Power, perfectly setting her up to be a glass cannon. Serath will consistently end fights quickly, either because she manages to get close and beat the tar out of her target, or because she failed to do so and was quickly taken out.

Answer: Aurora

Aurora can deal hefty Magic damage in close quarters using Hoarfrost to Root enemies, then Boreal Sweep to land some hurt. She can also use Cryoseism, her Ultimate Ability, to briefly freeze enemies in place and deal a chunk of Magic damage in the process.

Because all of these Abilities are close ranged, Aurora has understandably not been recommended for the Midlane role. While any player could theoretically succeed trying anything, Aurora's lack of range on her Abilities and the fact she isn't especially tanky would make dealing with distanced enemies very problematic.

Aurora isn't alone as a Magic-focused Offlaner, as Countess, Sevarog, Steel, Kwang and Shinbi deal largely or exclusively Magic damage in this lane as well.

Answer: Zarus

With a 5 for Basic Attack Power to go with at least a 5 for everything else, Zarus is truly a jack of all trades. While Greystone and Grux slightly outperform his Basic Attack Power, Zarus can outperform them in ways that bring him up to snuff in general viability with them.

Answer: Greystone

With a 7, Greystone can take hits almost just as capably as Steel can. Additionally, Greystone boasts a significant degree of self-heal he can use to help sustain himself in long encounters or team fights.

Answer: Shinbi

Shinbi boasts a great degree of anti-Tank in her kit, perfect for a lane known for bulky characters. Shinbi also deals predominantly Magic damage, which is harder to defend against than Physical.

Countess can make essentially the same claims, while having a little bit more sustainability at the expense of anti-Tank compared to Shinbi. Countess boasts quite a bit of raw power however, and is definitely not passive.

Answer: Grux

Grux has the most CC heavy kit, with three Abilities giving him this capability. It is difficult to flee from Grux barring timely usage of a Blink, making him great at playing out a 1v1 in the Offlane.

Answer: Gives Feng Mao a permanent Attack Power boost on unique Takedown

"Unique Hero Takedown" is the official in-game wording. Essentially, it means that once Feng Mao is involved with the killing of an enemy he has not yet been involved in killing, it activates the buff. As there are five enemy Heroes, it can gains its last stack at five, and gains bonuses at the first, third and final stack.

This passive largely incentives Feng Mao to eventually make his way into all lanes and the Jungle, as he will want to land a kill or assist on each enemy as quickly as possible. This unique playstyle has become a staple of Feng Mao's in both "Paragon" that came out in 2016 and ended service in 2019, and "Predecessor", both games in which he was among the first playable characters available.
