Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Head of Depths Research, found at Lookout Landing, will be who of these figures?

Answer: Josha

Once you collect the Paraglider, Purah will recommend meeting with Josha and joining her and Robbie in exploring the hole created south of Lookout Landing, deemed Hyrule Chasm. The Paraglider will be essential here as it's a long drop into the darkness below (and a painful one if you don't time your glide). Your goal when you head down there for the first time is to look for anything that looks like a figure seen on a slate in their lab.

When you locate it, Robbie will unlock both the Camera on Link's Purah Pad and the Hyrule Compendium.
2. Which of these will help you navigate in the Depths?

Answer: Brightbloom Seeds

Because most of the Depths are covered in darkness, you'll need to find a way to illuminate the area or, else, risk falling into dangers with every step. There are a handful of ways to make this easier on yourself, but the most effective on-the-fly way to bring light is by tossing or shooting Brightbloom Seeds from your inventory. Whether lobbed as far as you can throw them or fired from an Arrow, it'll help brighten a small radius of the area. Most enemies will be alerted by light down here, but not harmed by it.

Some elixirs will also give Link the ability to glow, which can be useful as well.
3. What five-letter word is used to refer to the damaging and poisonous substance found in the Depths?

Answer: Gloom

Found throughout the Depths, the Gloom is pretty dangerous since it not only causes harm (and grief) to Link in simply navigating the underground, but it's also empowering to most Depth-dwelling foes. Red in colour, the Gloom will affect Link's maximum life, diminishing it and making it nearly impossible to heal until it's cured on the surface (or with specific items). Anytime Link is struck by a Gloom foe, they'll harm him doubly as a result (his regular damage, but also the permanent debuff). On the same token, Gloom is a good indicator on the surface of Hyrule that Link is near a chasm entrance.
4. Link can illuminate large expanses of the Depths at Lightroots. Link can also teleport to these locations.

Answer: True

Just like Shrines up above on the surface of Hyrule, Link is able to travel between Lightroots that he's activated, done simply by arriving at them and ensuring they illuminate. Unlike Shrines, there's not much to do at these locations except turn them on, but they serve the dual purpose of also being a massive light, necessary for allowing you to travel the Depths with more ease. Often, you'll be able to see dim, unreached Lightroots in the distance from any other Lightroot you find.

The locations of these line up 1:1 with any Shrines found on the surface of Hyrule, but not the ones in the skies above the land.
5. Bargainer Statues will use which of these Depths-found items as currency?

Answer: Poes

At least your first Bargainer Statue can be found at Lookout Landing amongst Josha's research, and if you speak to it it'll indicate that it wants Poes. For the delivery of these plentiful Depth-based collectibles, you'll be able to receive items normally found or used in the Depths-- everything from Bomb Flowers to gear that'll protect you from the Gloom.

The Poes themselves are small spirits that need to be delivered to the afterlife where they belong; you can consider this compensation for the Bargainer.

There are several of these Bargainers down in the Depths as well; they're just tough to find.
6. The statues that Link locates in the Depths (following the A Mystery in the Depths quest) will lead him to which of these types of locations?

Answer: Mine

If you return to the statue you found for Josha and Robbie's earlier quest, you'll be able to follow its gaze along a lengthy path that leads to the Great Abandoned Central Mine, and while it appears that the place will contain a handful of researchers, keep in mind that the Heads of Depth Research had no idea what was at the end of this path. In effect, you should keep your guard up.

Though this first string of statues leads to the Central Mine, there are three other mines underground that you can visit, all of which can be reached if you continue following the statues onward.
7. Besides the camera, which of these Purah Pad functions can be unlocked in the Depths?

Answer: Autobuild

By the time Link visits the Depths for the first time he'll already have amassed a number of capabilities that can be activated from the Purah Pad, most of which will come from his first visit to the islands in the sky (like Ascend, Recall, Fuse, and UltraHand). Link will definitively get the Camera in the Depths, but his first visit to the Great Abandoned Central Mine will allow him to unlock Autobuild. With this, Link can recreate past UltraHand projects using components he finds or makes using Zonalite.

He can even utilize plans provided by Schema Stones, essentially blueprints for useful staples.
8. What familiar face from "Breath of the Wild", the leader of the Yiga Clan, will fight Link throughout the Depths?

Answer: Kohga

Master Kohga, who was encountered in the canyons north of the Gerudo Desert, will still harbour a grudge against Link from his time in "Breath of the Wild", and when Link makes it to the Central Mine and discovers the Yiga Clan's presence, it'll lead to a fight in which Kohga will use a handful of dangerous, custom-created, mobile weapons. If Link can stave him off, Kohga will head onward to the next mine down the path (Link can follow the statues there). Kohga can be fought three more times after the first, and when he's taken care of enough, he'll give some clues as to where Link might find Ganondorf.
9. Old Maps will lead Link to treasures in the Depths. Where can the maps be found?

Answer: On the Sky Islands

Despite there being a lot of dark, unknown spots in the Depths, Link can illuminate the secrets therein in multiple ways, and part of that involves finding Old Maps that either rest within hard-to-reach chests in the sky islands or are found at the end of tough trials that use these obstacles (the labyrinths for instance). Following the X on Link's map that results from these maps, no matter how he goes about doing that, will lead to either a waiting item or a creature guarding something particularly special (sometimes you might drop into a chasm that heads immediately into a boss fight), and sometimes, these items are classics that you might remember from past games.
10. How many of the game's key Temples will Link locate in the Depths?

Answer: Two

In exploring the Regional Phenomena that have started cropping up in Hyrule as a result of the Upheaval, Link will need to find his way to the aid and homelands of the seers that assisted Rauru in staving off the Demon King the first time he appeared in the land, and this will lead him to five different temples-- the Wind, Fire, Water, Lightning, and Spirit Temples-- before diving deeper than the Depths to find the Demon King himself.

While two of these temples (Wind and Water) are now in the sky and the Lightning Temple is on Hyrule's surface in the Gerudo Desert, both the Fire Temple and the Spirit Temple are found in the Depths-- the former being the lost city of Gorondia under Death Mountain and the latter being the Construct Factory in West Necluda Depths.
