Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The cutscene cinematic opening this map depicts our four protagonists getting themselves into a lot of trouble out at sea, before washing up on the shores of Zetsubou No Shima. Clearly, they went to a lot of trouble to get here. What is the team's main objective?

Answer: Find and kill Takeo Masaki

Previously, the group went to the Group 935 facility on The Giant to kill Ultimis Richtofen, and they went to the Austrian Alps on Der Eisendrache to kill Ultimis Dempsey. Now, it's time to find Takeo's Ultimis form, with the same idea of physically killing him and then absorbing his soul with the Summoning Key.
2. Players will eventually pick up Seeds on this map. There are several places these could be planted to create a few very odd variants of plants. Which of the following is a function a plant can perform?

Answer: Resuscitating players

There are four different colors of plants, which are determined by the length of time players allow them to grow, how much they are watered and whether or not players have the map's Wonder Weapon to stimulate further growth.

Plants can do some truly wild things; from literally holding a zombie mid-air and suspended, to luring and chopping zombie heads with a razor sharp vine, free powerups, a free perk if lucky, to the most unique function: the ability to resurrect players who were killed mid-round. Players are encouraged to tinker with the various types of colored water this game offers, and experiment to see which type of plant fits their strategy, or which type of plant they think is coolest.
3. Unlike other maps, this one actually has two boss fights with one not tied to the Easter Egg Main Quest at all. A far more mellow but still dangerous and exciting in its own way, players will briefly do battle with a giant spider. Upon slaying the creature, what is the reward?

Answer: Permanently free Widow's Wine

This is, by all accounts, a boss fight. However, it is clearly not a fight up to the standard of an Easter Egg Main Quest boss fight, so it's a lot easier and the fight doesn't take anywhere near as long to beat as a more proper, formal 'final' boss of sorts.

That said, the giant Spider can kill even Juggernogged players in two swift hits. It is also joined by a legion of smaller spiders who will try to harass and distract players, making it easier for the giant to land a hit. As such, players should treat this like a boss tied to a quest, even if it isn't quite up to par ultimately.

Once it is slain, behind where the giant spider perched itself lies a body of water. When interacted with, players will manifest a bottle out of nowhere that has the liquid in it, their character will drink it, and gain the Widow's Wine perk. This can be repeated infinitely, for free, for the entire game, making for a pretty nice reward.
4. The Skull of Nan'sapwe profiles as this map's Specialist Weapon. It can be acquired early in the average match, and the player may (if narratively informed) be slightly surprised on what this skull is from. From what is this skull?

Answer: A Keeper

This weapon is, in essence, an animated skull of a Keeper which still harbors some of its old power. Players can use this to kill, but it's also possible to use the skull to mesmerize and charm zombies, even Thrashers, into being friendly. The skull is ultimately needed to finish the Easter Egg Main Quest, and can be a fantastic contributor during the boss fight.
5. The Thrasher is this map's mini-boss. It sure embodies the horrifyingly morose, drab atmosphere it's in as a giant swamp monster covered in mushroom spores. Perhaps more horrifying is what this thing can do to players if playing in a co-op session. What can Thrashers do, if two or more players are on the map?

Answer: Devour the player character

If a player gets downed while in the vicinity of the Thrasher, it will march over to them and straight up devour their character.

If this happens, the only way to revive the player in question would be to kill the Thrasher, then revive the player that comes out of it.
6. The KT-4 is the Wonder Weapon of this map. When fired, how much damage does it deal to zombies?

Answer: Infinite

The KT-4 distinctly resembles the Sliquifier from Die Rise, and functions very similarly. Players can either fire directly at their target, or at the ground in front of them. Doing either will kill any zombies it hits guaranteed, while also dealing lots of damage to Thrashers as well.
7. The KT-4 can be upgraded to become an even greater killing machine. In doing so, its ammunition stock doubles and its clip sizes do as well. What is the name of the upgraded KT-4?

Answer: Masamune

The Masamune may not be required per se, but it sure does make anything the player wants to do a lot easier to achieve. That includes beating the boss, which with a little bit of cheese sprinkled in, can be achieved in about ten seconds.
8. First order of business in this easter egg is to load a cannon and use it to shoot down an airplane flying patrols over the map. Unfortunately, there is no available ammunition for this cannon, so players will have to find some. Where can cannon ammo be found?

Answer: Plants

By obtaining blue water, watering a plant with it three times across three separate rounds and including a shot of the KT-4 with the water, players give themselves the best chance possible to receive a cannon shell from the plant. It is not guaranteed and may take multiple plants, so players should be trying to water and cultivate multiple plants at a time until they get it.
9. The second step on this Easter Egg Main Quest is quite nerve wracking, can result in controllers thrown at walls, verbal arguments breaking out and can even end games on the spot. Two players must work together to transport one player to a part of the map that is very difficult to access. If, amidst the process, even a slight mistake is made, what will happen?

Answer: Immediate death

What two players are trying to do here, is one will be interacting with a command panel attached to a zipline, while the other will be riding the zipline. The one operating the panel must interact with it once to start the zipline, then again at just the right moment to cut the zipline and drop the riding player. There is a very narrow window, in which cutting the zipline will cause the rider to fall atop a deck where one of the three gears needed to power the elevator can be picked up.

The timing needed to successfully do this is extremely tight. If the window is missed, the player riding the zipline will simply fall right to their instant death, losing all of their perks and weapons in the process. For these reasons, it is highly preferred that the rider and panel controller have voice communications with one another, so that the rider can tell the controller when to cut the zipline.

It is heavily, heavily recommended not to let a player wielding the KT-4 act as the rider, for the Wonder Weapon would be lost if a mistake is made. As well, an Imprint Plant can potentially, albeit somewhat unlikely, be cultivated as a contingency plan; this plant will allow one player who died to respawn with all of their weapons and perks, a failsafe that would make this step a lot less risky. The problem is, it is impossible to reliably cultivate an Imprint Plant, as its existence is tied to RNG and plant watering.

If an Imprint Plant is out of the question, allies to the riding player should ideally be carrying Gobblegums that grant free perks, in the event that they need to help the rider after they just died. The rider could also pack a Perkaholic Gobblegum to regain their perks. While the Impatient Gobblegum typically sucks, the rider could wield this so that they'd be able to respawn before the round ends, should the worse come to pass, and have a better shot at regaining their lost equipment. Arms Grace is also a typically underwhelming Gobblegum that could offer some insurance.

Thankfully, this step is a lot less difficult done solo, though the threat of death is still imminent. On solo exclusively, the rider can use a melee attack to cut the zipline when it is the right time. Since the rider can see the deck they're supposed to land on, they have a much better chance at properly timing this than when someone using the command panel does. That said, as you'd be playing by yourself, death won't just be a major inconvenience: it'd straight up end the entire game. So, the player must ensure to have already purchased Quick Revive ahead of time if trying this step solo.
10. For the third step, it is mandatory for at least someone to have a particular Gobblegum in order to proceed. Which Gobblegum of the following is required?

Answer: Anywhere But Here

When activated, ordinarily Anywhere But Here will teleport the user to a random place on the map. In this particular context, once players have spawned three cogs to repair an elevator with on the map, using this Gobblegum takes players into a 'secret room' containing one of the three cogs.

The elevator is the mechanism taking players to the boss room. Without it, players cannot access the boss. Players cannot repair the elevator without three cogs, and acquiring one of them without Anywhere But Here is strictly impossible. As such, one player must have this Gobblegum on their person to finish the quest.
11. Once the three steps of the Easter Egg Main Quest have been finished, it's boss fight time! Who is the boss of this map?

Answer: Takeo Masaki

While Takeo is the boss, narratively speaking, he is not in control of his own actions during the fight. Defeating the Thrasher vines he is tied to will free him from captivity and end the boss fight. This can be done most easily with the KT-4 or Skull of Nan'Sapwe, but any high damaging bullet weapon or some variant of the Ray Gun can absolutely work too.

The main challenge is dealing with the near overwhelming amount of Thrashers, running around in the small, cramped space the boss fight takes place in. Because the boss cannot actually deal damage, this fight is highly cheeseable through the use of any Gobblegum that de-aggroes zombies; In Plain Sight, Idle Eyes, even something like Undead Man Walking would make this fight a cakewalk.
12. Before the boss fight can begin, players are required to pick up and equip a piece of gear; without it, death will be swift and instant before the fight even begins. What gear is needed?

Answer: Gas Mask

There are three parts that make up the Gas Mask and an associated workbench. Players must craft the Gas Mask, equip it, and ensure that it is not about to break. If they fail to do this, they will simply be killed as the elevator is transporting them to the boss fight.
13. In the end cutscene cinematic, Ultimis Takeo Masaki acknowledges what must be done, and has a specific request for Primis Takeo, asking the latter to become the former's "kaishakunin". What happens to Ultimis Takeo in this scene?

Answer: Seppuku

A "kaishakunin" is someone who beheads another person who is doing seppuku. Seppuku is a form of ritual suicide, where the person doing it impales their own stomach with a sword. The job of the kaishakunin is to immediately behead the person doing this, as a means of preventing them from suffering and granting them a swift, painless death.

Takeo is Japanese, so Primis and Ultimis both came from a culture where people held these aspects as important and dignifying. With Ultimis Takeo understanding he has to die in order to save the universe, he chooses to go out like this. Primis Takeo, of course, obliges in Ultimis Takeo's request.
14. As Primis and Ultimis Takeo interact during the end cutscene cinematic, a shocking plot twist takes place when Ultimis Takeo tells Primis Takeo something. What is discovered here?

Answer: Takeo was betrayed

Since the very day "Zombies" came into existence in 2009, Takeo's mannerisms and dialogue have almost annoyingly been obsessed and tied in with the unnamed Emperor of Japan. Takeo serves this emperor ceaselessly with blind devotion, both Primis and Ultimis.

Ultimis Takeo was, ultimately, abducted by fellow Japanese soldiers and held captive on Zetsuobou No Shima, used for cruel experimentation. It turns out that it was the Emperor himself who ordered this done, casting away the loyal Takeo like a cheap, broken toy in the process.

In maps that followed up this one, Primis Takeo notably no longer talks about the Emperor. It is possible Treyarch did this in response to fans who were annoyed at his bland, one dimensional, arguably even racist dynamic whereupon Takeo had previously obsessed with the Emperor, as a means to remove the Emperor from his character entirely. In any case, the way they wrote the Emperor out of the story was simply masterful.
15. After the two Takeos finish dealing with each other, the Primis crew comes together to discuss their next course of action. Dempsey makes a suggestion, but is overruled by Richtofen who tells them "a chain of events must be set in motion. Call it our insurance policy, in case we don't like where we end up" Canonically speaking, where is Primis headed to after Zetsubou No Shima?

Answer: Alcatraz Island

Canonically, the Blood of the Dead experience takes place directly after Zetsubou No Shima, though the map is played on "Black Ops 4" instead of this game. This map takes place on Alcatraz Island.
