Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many stations of the cross are there?

Answer: 14

There are fourteen. It is a long and painful journey through Jesus' death, while most people think that he is just nailed to a cross and dies. Some women wept for him on the way up, as they didn't want to see him die.
2. How many times did Jesus fall when carrying the cross?

Answer: 3

He fell once in the third station, then two other times futher on. It is a very useful thing to know the stations of the cross, as it sews together everything perfectly.
3. Who washed the face of Jesus when he was carrying the cross?

Answer: Veronica

Veronica dipped the cloth in a bowl of cool water and washed Jesus' face. The story says that his face mark was printed on the cloth after he had used it to wash himself.
4. Who helped Jesus carry the cross?

Answer: Simon

It was Simon (but not the disciple. Many men and women were called the same names in those days, most after holy people of the Bible). He was forced by the Roman soldiers but then felt privileged to help him after he was made to.
5. Who first saw that Jesus had risen from the dead?

Answer: Mary Magdalene

It was Mary Magdalene. She was taking some herbs into the tomb, for it was tradition in those days, three days after they died. She walked to it and was shocked to see that it was open.
6. About how long did it take before Jesus died?

Answer: less than a day

It sometimes took people a lot longer than this to die. For some people it even took a day or two, which was a very horrible way to die.
7. Which disciple's actions eventually led to the Romans finding and condemning Jesus?

Answer: Judas

Peter betrayed him a short while before he died, and was forgiven by Jesus asking him if he loved him three times. (It was three times because before, he said that one of you, (meaning Peter) would betray him before the cockerel crows three times.) Judas was the one to lead the Romans to him.
8. Which apostle (disciple) stayed with Jesus until he died?

Answer: John

Mary and John stayed there until he died. All of the disciples apart from John fled from being accused of being a disciple and knowing Jesus.
9. How many times did Jesus come back from praying in Gethsemane to check on Peter, James and John?

Answer: 3

Gethsemane is said Geth-sem-ah-nee. He came back all three times to find them sleeping!
10. Last one is a little bit different. Why do we eat Easter eggs at Easter?

Answer: To represent Jesus becoming alive again and to show new life

Yes it is to represent Jesus coming alive again and showing new life. I still think they are delicious though!
