Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which part of the foot can be said to have fallen, resulting in flat feet when walking?

Answer: Arch

The arches in your feet are formed by the tarsal and metatarsal bones, which are strengthened by ligaments and tendons, allowing weight to be placed upon the foot.
Collapsed arches are known as flat feet, resulting in the entire surface of the foot being in contact with the floor. In the majority of cases, this is not a cause for concern however and results in no pain or lack of mobility.
2. When someone is not as aggressive as first thought, what do we say is worse than their bite?

Answer: Bark

Being described as having a bark worse than one's bite is often used when punishment is threatened should a task not be carried out. The actual punishment though, when applied is much less severe than the one first described.
3. A romantic meeting is often referred to by what name?

Answer: Date

Across the world, people ask people that they like out on a date, with the intention of getting to know them better and discuss shared interests.
Sometimes, people meet, knowing that they already share an interest (or have a mutual friend), but without having seen the other person before. This is commonly referred to as a "blind date".
4. Football's 2006 FA Cup Final was decided on penalties after the game ended in which result?

Answer: Tie

In the match between Liverpool and West Ham United, West Ham took an early lead and then scored again to lead 2-0 before Liverpool pulled a goal back in the first half.
In the second half, Liverpool got back to 2-2 before West Ham once again took the lead. In the 90th +1 minute, Steven Gerrard equalised for Liverpool, to send the game into extra time.
With the game still tied following extra time, the match went to a penalty shoot out, which Liverpool won 3-1.
5. If I wish to weigh an ingredient in my kitchen, what would I use?

Answer: Scales

There are many animals with scales, such as lizards, snakes and fish. Butterflies and moths also have small scales, usually invisible to the naked eye, covering their wings, but none of these are much use for weighing flour.
6. Between 2003 and 2006, Prince Charles was Colonel in Chief of which Scottish infantry battalion?

Answer: Black Watch

The Black Watch have a history dating back to 1881, but in 2006 they, along with the Royal Scots, the King's Own Scottish Borderers, the Royal Highland Fusiliers, The Highlanders and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, joined together to create the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Colonel in Chief of this new regiment is the reigning monarch.
7. If you say something foolish or embarrassing, you could be accused of putting which body part in your mouth?

Answer: Foot

The human foot is a fascinating piece of engineering which contains 26 bones, 33 joints and over a hundred muscles.
A foot is also a measurement equal to 12 inches or 30.48 centimetres. There are three feet in one yard.
8. Gingivitis is a disease affecting which part of the body?

Answer: Gums

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums, which if left untreated, can lead to periodontitis, which can result in teeth loss.
Always make sure you brush your teeth regularly to remove plaque and help prevent gingivitis, and don't forget to keep those regular dental appointments.
9. What could I use to stop liquid leaking from a container?

Answer: Seal

Seals can be made from a variety of materials, such as foam, rubber, plastic and wax. They are particularly useful on things such as fuel tanks, where they not only stop the fuel from leaking, but also stop other liquids such as rainwater from entering.
10. On which part of your body would you find cuticles and lunulae?

Answer: Nails

Human nails are made of a substance called keratin, which is also what the horns of rhinoceroses are made from.
The lunula, which is most visible on the thumb, is the white crescent shape at the base of the nail, while the cuticle is a layer of clear skin which protects the nail as it grows from the nail bed.
