1. How many countries border the Black Sea?

Answer: 6

The countries are: Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia and former USSR state, Georgia.
2. During the 1990's, only one horse won both the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup in the same year? Which horse was it?

Answer: Saintly

Saintly won both races in 1996. Might And Power won the Melbourne Cup in 1997, and the Cox Plate in 1998. Champion mare Sunline won the Cox Plate twice in 1999 and 2000, but has never run (let alone won) a Melbourne Cup. Super Impose won the Cox Plate in 1992, and came 2nd in the 1989 Melbourne Cup.
Only four horses have completed the Cox Plate/ Melbourne Cup double in the same year. The other three horses to have done this were Nightwatch in 1929, Pharlap in 1930 and Rising Fast in 1954.

Elizabeth's famous father Henry VIII fathered three successors to the English throne, all to different women. Catherine of Aragon, his 1st wife gave birth to Mary. Elizabeth's mother Anne Boleyn was Henry's 2nd wife, and Jane Seymour was mother to Henry's only son, the eventual King Edward VI.

Answer: Elsa

In 1957, Joy Adamson adopted Elsa, an orphaned lion cub, that Joy raised and released back into the wild once the cub reached maturity. Joy wrote of her experience in an international best selling book, "Born Free", that was made into a film in 1965.

Of the six concertos composed, my two personal favourites are Numbers 2 and 5. Among other pieces of music, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto Number 2 made it onto the sound and image record launched with the Voyager space probes in 1977!

Lucy Lawless' (Xena) co-star since the show's conception has been played by Renee O'Connor. Hudson Leick plays Xena's nemesis, Callisto (a.k.a. Evil Barbie), in the show's first 3 seaons. Danielle Cormack portrays Amazon Queen, Ephiny.

The Carlton Blues had already reached the 16 Premierships milestone. They achieved this in season 1995.

Answer: 79 AD

Until the pyroclastic eruption of Mount St Helens in 1980, scientists had little understanding of the type of eruption that was able to devastate Pompeii and Herculaneum. Mount St. Helens erupted in a similar way to Vesuvius, propelling searing volcanic ash and boulders at very high speed into the atmosphere and covering surrounding areas.
