6. Maths: Three is subtracted from seven times a number. The result is multiplied by 5. If the answer is 55, then what is the number?

Answer: 2

This question was tricky, and I must say that I got it wrong in my maths examination. This question had to be there in one of my quizzes...! Remember that 3 is subtracted 'from' seven times a number. Let the number be x. Then 7 times that number would be 7x, and 3 is subtracted 'from' 7x. Then (7x - 3) is multiplied by 5; remember that both the terms are being multiplied:

5(7x - 3) = 55

35x - 15 = 55

35x = 70

x = 2.
7. English Language: What 'S' can mean to put, place, fix, adjust, represent, appoint, assign, establish, prescribe, arrange, transpose and apply?

Answer: set

Set is the word in the English Language which has the most meanings.
8. 'Interesting and Obscure' Chemistry: Name the word which is formed when you match the correct chemical symbol of the elements with the following atomic numbers in order: 2, 3, 27, 78, 68.

Answer: helicopter

The element with the atomic number 2 is Helium, Lithium has the atomic number 3, Cobalt has the atomic number 27, Platinum has the atomic number 78 and erbium has the atomic number 68. The symbols are:

Helium = He, Lithium = Li, Cobalt = Co, Platinum = Pt, Erbium = Er... The chemical symbols of the elements in order spell "Helicopter"!

Did you know something? I made this interesting discovery myself!
9. Films: Name the film originally released in 2001 and stars Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, William Parcher, Jennifer Connelly, Alicia Nash and Christopher Plummer.

Answer: A Beautiful Mind

This question was very easy for all you movie buffs! A Beautiful Mind is about a mathematical genius who makes a wonderful discovery in his career, but is soon diagnosed with schizophrenia.
10. Plants: The blossoms of the day lily live only from _____________ to ____________.
