Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the game "Neko Atsume", the character Tubbs is which of the following?

Answer: Cat

Tubbs the Cat is the most beloved or most hated character on this game, due to the fact that he is very large and can pretty much override any play by other cats, such as visiting the Food Bowl, or taking over the Giant Cushion, normally holding two cats. His personality is listed as "Finicky Feaster".
2. In the sequel to "In the Heat of the Night", Sidney Poitier starred as the title character in "They Call Me Mister Tubbs!"

Answer: False

He did, however, star in a sequel entitled "They Call Me Mister Tibbs!" By 2016, he had acted in 52 movies, directed nine, and acted in eight television productions. He has also written three autobiographies, and was once the non-resident Bahamian ambassador to Japan.
3. Detective Ricardo (Rico) Tubbs was a fictional character on which popular TV series?

Answer: Miami Vice

Philip Michael Thomas played the Metro-Dade undercover detective partnered with James "Sonny" Crockett, played by Don Johnson. A highlight of their characterizations were the costumes they wore, including Armani jackets and Ray Ban sunglasses, inspiring a fashion style which both epitomized the 1980s. They had five to eight costume changes per episode.
4. In Britain's dark comedy series "League of Gentlemen", we are introduced to married couple Edward and Tubbs Tattsyrup, owners of a local shop in the fictional town of Royston Vasey. What is Tubbs' real first name?

Answer: Tulip

The "League of Gentlemen" comedy troupe consists of four friends who came up with the idea for a town populated by bizarre citizens, and visited by equally bizarre characters. Almost all of the characters are performed by the troupe, meaning there would rarely be more than three people in a scene.

It also means all male and female parts are played by the troupe. Tubbs Tattsyrup is played by Steve Pemberton. The other troupe members are Jeremy Dyson, Mark Gatiss, and Reece Shearsmith.
5. In 1906, Walter F. Tubbs launched a business in Norway, Maine manufacturing an item for outdoor use during winter months. Which item was it?

Answer: Snowshoes

The company eventually left Maine for Seattle, Washington. They have continued to develop better snowshoes, using more modern materials such as aluminum and composites rather than the wooden frames of their original shoes. In 1998, they engineered the first woman-specific snowshoe, taking into account stride, stance and physiological differences.

They also make shoes sized for children, making it possible for the entire family to enjoy the sport.
6. Ernest Tubb, a country singer known for hits such as "Walking the Floor Over You", was professionally known by what nickname?

Answer: Texas Troubadour

"Walking the Floor Over You", written in 1941, was not only a hit but was considered to be the inception of the honky-tonk style of country music. With his band the Texas Troubadours, he was a fixture at the Grand Ole Opry and is enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
7. Justin Tubb was the son of legendary country star Ernest Tubb. Following in his father's footsteps, he was a singer-songwriter who joined the Grand Ole Opry at age 20. In the late 1950s, he roomed with another up and coming singer-songwriter. Who was it?

Answer: Roger Miller

Justin and Roger collaborated on singing and writing more than one tune. Most likely Glen and Justin never knew each other. Glen had moved to the Los Angeles area to become a studio musician. Neither Randy could have roomed with Justin, as they were just babies (or merely a gleam in their father's eye) at the time Justin and Roger were roomies.
8. Tubbe is an electropop band formed in 2010 by Steffi Jacob and Klaus Scheuermann. They hail from where?

Answer: Germany

They got their start in Munich, Germany. Their first album "Eiscafe Ravetto" was released in 2013. You might want to check out their video for "Punkopa".
9. Ah, memories of my childhood! Tubby Tompkins was whose comic book friend?

Answer: Little Lulu

Thomas "Tubby" Tompkins was a rotund young man appearing around 1948. He became popular enough in his own right to have his own comic book from 1952 to 1961.
10. Several famous people, from Danny Kaye to Annette Funicello to Julia Child, have acted as narrator to this musical story about an instrument who found a melody to play. Which instrument found it could sing, too?

Answer: Tubby the Tuba

Lyricist Paul Tripp and composer George Kleinsinger wrote this piece in 1945. Initially the two had performed a children's concert in 1941, which was an "introduction-to-the-orchestra" in a classical setting. Following the concert, the tuba player quipped, "You know, tubas can sing, too!" Tripp imagined the story of a tuba who finds a melody to play, with the assistance of the other instruments in the orchestra.
