The cyclical nature of the rotors gives the helicopter the slang name whirlybird. The "Whirlybirds" television show focuses on Chuck Martin and P.T. Moore, owners of a fictitious helicopter chartering company in the American West.

The show was later re-named "Copter Patrol."

The yo-yo has been a part of India, China, and European culture for centuries. However, the modern day yo-yo was trademarked in 1932 and brought to the mass market by Donald F. Duncan in 1929 after he bought out the Flores Yo-Yo Corporation from Santa Barbara.

In 1999, the Duncan you-yo was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester New York.

Wonder Woman is a character from the DC comics universe. Her first appearance was in all-star comics back in 1941. Her character is an Amazonian warrior, Princess Diana of Themiscira. Wonder Woman has super strength, speed agility, empathy, and some telepathic abilities.

She also wears bracelets empowered with indestructibility and a lasso of truth. To change from her Earth persona of Diana Prince into Wonder Woman she goes through a really cool costume change by twirling really really fast.

The human gyroscope is sometimes called an aerotrim. It was originally built to train pilots and astronauts but has proven to possess excellent balance and cardiovascular benefits for common everyday people. Although more popular in the 1980s and early 1990s, the aerotrim or human gyroscope largely went out of production at the turn of the millennium.

The first round human gyroscope patent was issued in 1964. Austrian engineer built one of the first prototypes in his garage as a tool to help him with back pain.

The twizzle was first performed in 1991 by David Grant. Since then it has become extremely common especially in ice dancing where it must appear in compulsory dances and the required elements of short dance, original dance, and free dance. The twizzle is also a required element sequence in synchronized skating.The technique differs from a traditional figure skating spin because it travels across the ice rather than focuses on a single spot on the ice.

Aside from being a popular model of garbage disposal, whirlaway was the name given to a downshift device on a 1949 Oldsmobile. This device led to an amazing acceleration using the Oldsmobile V-8 rocket engine. This famous racehorse also has inspired the Whirlaway Golf Center in Methuen Massachusetts. Opened in 1934, the golf center continues to be the oldest single-family owned range in the country.
