Shaw died at a very young age (26). He was most famous for being a Colonel in the Civil War and leading the first black regiment in the North.

Francis George and Sarah Blake were Robert's parents. Robert wrote them regularly while he was at war. These letters have been kept safe and can be viewed.

Robert lived in Massachusetts until he enlisted in the Civil War. He never made it home.

Answer: Merchant

Robert then took a bullet through the heart and was killed. The 54th watched in horror as their leader fell.

Robert died in this battle. He was buried in a mass grave with his men, and is remembered highly today.
