Captain Largos was the Argentine Commander who surrendered on board HMS Antrim. The notorious Lieutenant Astiz surrendered on board HMS Plymouth and General Mario Menendez was the Argentine military governor of the "Las Islas Malvinas".

Answer: General Belgrano

Although reports at the time said Tigerfish missiles had been used, it was in fact older Mark 8 torpedoes that downed the ship.
5. On 4th May 1982, what type of Argentinian fighter planes, using Exocet air-to-surface missiles, sank the British destroyer HMS Sheffield?

Answer: Super Etendard

Two missiles were fired by a Super Etendard fighter bomber. One missed but the other scored a direct hit and ignited a fire. The French-made Exocet missile penetrated deep into HMS Sheffield's control room. The blaze caused a poisonous smoke and the loss of the ship and 20 men.

Answer: HMS Coventry

HMS Coventry was struck by three 1000 lb bombs dropped from Argentine Skyhawks. 19 members of the crew died. On the same day the Atlantic Conveyor was also hit by an Exocet missile killing 12 more and it sank three days later.

Answer: Lieutenant-Colonel "H" Jones

Colonel Jones was posthumously awarded the VC. In all, seventeen soldiers in this battalion and about 200 Argentine soldiers were killed during this battle. About 1,400 Argentine soldiers surrendered and were taken prisoners.
8. On 12th June 1982, during a tough night-time engagement, Sergeant Ian John McKay was killed in the fierce fight for what high ground over-looking Stanley?

Answer: Mount Longdon

The commander of number four platoon was wounded and platoon Sergeant McKay took over. After collecting some of his men, he moved in to knock out a heavy machine gun post. Sergeant McKay was killed in the engagement and later awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross.
In the fighting for Mount Longdon and the days following, 29 British troops died and more than 47 were wounded. With the taking of the "Two Sisters" and "Mount Tumbledown" the end was near.

Of the 28,000 British airmen, sailors and soldiers who sailed south in May of 1982, 253 did not return. A total of 255 British men and women were killed during the Falklands War. Sources state that there were 123 British Army personnel, 88 Royal Navy, 10 Royal Fleet Auxiliary, 9 Merchant Navy, 25 Royal Marines, 1 RAF, and 3 women civilian casualties.
