The International Committee of the Red Cross had been formed in 1863, and was expanded in 1919 to include the Red Crescent Societies in 1919. The IFRC exists in every country of the world. The IFRC is especially well-known for mobilizing volunteers to offer humanitarian assistance after disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis.
