The Madison is reported to have been started in Columbus, Ohio by William "Bubbles" Holloway. The Madison is a dance where the dancer moves in steps back and forth. Different moves are called out during the dance. Some of the names of these moves include: the Double Cross, the Cleveland Box, the Big M, the Rifleman, and the Jackie Gleason.

The Stroll became popular due to the show "American Bandstand". According to Dick Clark, there wasn't an official song about The Stroll, so he asked The Diamonds to come up with a song and they did.

Basically, The Stroll is a dance where there are two parallel lines, of guys on one side and girls on the other. Each couple makes their way to the end of the line and then they dance their way down between the two lines of people.
