Answer: 18 years

 Jonas is feeling hot under all the focus from the audience and tries to cool down by loosening his collar. He is then put under even more pressure by a whole host of questions from persistent individuals about if he saw a monster shark seven years ago.
2. How deep does Terry claim she has dived in the Abyss Glider before?

Answer: 16,000 feet

 Terry has just driven Jonas home and is now trying to persuade him to come to the Tanaka Institute and examine one of the UNIS robots that was destoyed by something very big and very powerful at the bottom of the sea!
3. Who does Jonas meet aboard The Kiku who persists in putting him down and blaming him entirely for the incident on board The Seacliff seven years ago?

Answer: Frank Heller

 Heller doesn't want Jonas involved in the operation to retrieve the damaged UNIS from the trench. He feels Jonas could cost them their own lives just as he did to the other members aboard the Seacliff. It wasn't his fault that he thought he saw a giant megalodon shark in the pitch black depths. Or did he?

Answer: She is warmed through the icy water by the blood of another meg.

 After destoying D.J's sub, the male meg becomes entangled in the cable attached to the surface ship. The larger female then eats the male as they pass through the cold water, being warmed by his blood so she can survive. Meanwhile, Jonas' sub is left on the sea floor, preventing him from warning anyone of the ascending nightmare.

Answer: His right

 One of my favourite chapters! Mac and Jonas can't believe the size of the meg when she comes out of the sea like a rocket and tries to engulf the chopper with her garage sized jaws! But their ordeal will prove to be more terrifying than they have ever imagined...
6. "Ah, excuse me. Exactly why don't sharks float?" Who says this?

Answer: David Adasheck

 Adasheck is interested in the money Maggie is going to pay him, and so makes sure to gather as much information as possible to report to her about Jonas and the meg.
7. A tough one for you now! What position does Maggie tell Bud he can have when she is an international star?

Answer: Executive producer

 This sounds good to Bud, and he agrees to take his boat out with Maggie and a skeleton crew to put her plan into action. What they don't know is that they will get a lot more than they bargined for!

 Soon after this the meg makes her presence known. Creating a horrifying scene to the crowds on the beach, the gargantuan shark proceeds to devour one of the surfers and chase another to the shore in a heart-pounding game of cat and mouse. Another of my favourite chapters!
9. What is the first name of the brother that Frank Heller loses to the shark?

Answer: Dennis

 After all the torment Frank put Jonas through, he ends up losing his brother to the same monster that lost Jonas his nerve, his job and his reputation. Heller now has a motive for wanting to destroy the meg, and sets about with plans of his own...
10. Which one of these is the correct name of the company that helps the Tanaka institute fund the UNIS project?

Answer: JAMSTECH

 This is the company the Masao Tanaka approached in 1997 to help with the UNIS funding. The project was well underway until one of them was destroyed in the Mariana trench, forcing Masao to call upon Jonas Taylor and ask him to return to the root of his nightmares.
11. True or False. D.J is Terry's cousin.

Answer: False

He is her brother. The male meg kills him in the trench as Jonas watches. Terry and Masao are grief stricken, and use this hatred to fuel their desperation to kill the leviathon.

Answer: True

The UNIS robots were created by JAMSTECH and the Tanaka Institute to detect seismic vibrations. They were deployed along the floor of the Mariana Trench to give real-time feed back to the surface of earthquake tremors before they happen.

Answer: True

He has had it for years. DeMarco sits on it when Jonas is about to descend in the AG 1 and returns it to him. The tooth proves to be Jonas life saver in the thrilling climax of the book as well!

The sharp denticles that make up the skin can be like razors when rubbed the wrong way. This trait saves the meg from the net and allows her to escape and wreak yet more havoc!

 After meeting Mac when he was a patient in a psycotherapy hospital, Jonas became his soulmate. Mac was called on personally by Jonas to be helicopter pilot in this mission because they know and trust each other more than anyone else in the world.
16. Just before the meg attacks the surfers, they are sitting on their boards waiting for a big swell. How many surfers are in the water?

Answer: 5

 As the swell moves inward, three of the surfers glide to the beach, unaware that Barnes crashed in to the meg and then got eaten! Jim is then left by himself to escape the demonic beast and make it to dry land alive.
17. What is the name of the Japanese whaler with whale carcasses tied to it that unexpectedly gets attacked in the storm?

Answer: Tsunami

 A small (not greatly significant) scene in the book has a whaler being tossed about in a storm whilst being attacked by the meg. Jonas and Mac arrive in the chopper and proceed to try and rescue the helpless crewman as the the luminescent terror circles beneath.
18. Once inside the Monterey Bay Canyon, the meg continues to track the migrating whale pods. How close does she pass to the towering doors of the Tanaka Lagoon as she swims past? (sorry, but I need the actual words from the book)

Answer: Within 30 feet

 Ironically, this is the place that Jonas, Masao and Mac are trying to trap the shark in. It was originally going to be opened to allow the migrating whale pods to swim in and out freely so they could be studied, but all this changed when the Tanaka Instsitute proposed to catch the meg!
19. After losing Maggie to the jaws of the meg, Bud Harris is standing on the stern of his boat drowning his sorrows. What is the drink in his glass?

Answer: Gin

 He is cursing about if Maggie had let go of the camera with all the footage on it, then she could have got aboard the boat in time. He staggers in to his room drunkenly plotting how he is going to extract his revenge on the fish. He doesn't see the dorsal fin of the baby meg surfacing three feet out of the water nearby...

 A huge crowd has gathered to watch the historical event. With Mac piloting the chopper through the air and Jonas gliding the AG 1 through the sea, the meg will have trouble moving away unnoticed. However, someone else has a plan of their own to destroy the gargantuan creature of the deep...

Answer: "Mac attack"

 Mac drives the chopper into the roof of the stateroom on the ship, but the helicopter gets thrown into the ocean. Mac manages to climb back on to the ship, but Bud is waiting for him with a .44 Magnum!
22. When Jonas is bobbing nose-cone-down in the AG 1 staring into the Megalodons mouth, he thinks of what Masao told him. What does he say out loud to himself?

Answer: "I know my enemy"

 Igniting the hydrogen fuel booster, Jonas fires his sub into the cavernous mouth! This is my favourite chapter in the book because it is so unexpected and exciting. The AG 1 crashes in the shark's stomach and Jonas is confronted with piles of whale blubber, and a few recognizable human limbs!
23. In a bid to try and destroy the creature's immense heart from the inside out, Jonas opens a small compartment in the AG 1's cockpit. Which of these items is NOT in there?

Answer: A torch

 He cuts his way out of the stomach with the tooth, crawls into the cardiac chamber and manages to slice the ventricles holding the heart. Doused in blood and utterly exhausted, he makes his way back to the AG 1 and fires it up into the esophagus, then launches the small lexan escape pod out of the mouth.

It gets scraped by the teeth, but rises towards the surface as the 60 foot nightmare descends into the abyss.
24. As the escape pod hurtles towards the surface, the cracks begin to spread from the pressure of the water. At what depth does the pod begin to vibrate?

Answer: 300ft

 The cracks spread and the pod implodes. Jonas is nearly crushed, but manages to swim slowly to the surface, where Terry grabs him and takes him to a rescue boat. As he is loaded on to a stretcher at the Tanaka Lagoon he sees a baby meg being brought through the doors into the main viewing area of the lagoon.
25. The last question for all you meg fans. How many pups escaped from the mother after they were born?

Answer: 2
