Sal believes that Willis has a dazzling smile, but he isn't very nice. Her ideas are proven wrong when he tries to be her friend. Willis is the leader of the S.C. which is also known as the Celts. The S.C. is an abbreviation for Shadow Club, a school organization devoted to ruining other everyone's lives.

Tauni says that the black helps her find her face in the mirror because everything else is white and black stands out. Sal first notices Tauni when the other school kids are picking on her in the park.
