After a series of challenges she decided to hitchhike home and ended up being picked up by the same driver who brought her. Carpathia was the setting for the 1957 film, "The Prince and the Showgirl". Her film resume included "Everybody Sing" (1938), "My Man" (1928) and "Be Yourself!" (1930). She created the character of a brat named Baby Snooks while in the follies, and parlayed the routine into radio and television venues through the forties.

Ray Bolger was cast as Chris Maule in "The Harvey Girls". He had already worked with Judy Garland in 1939 when he was The Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz". The Harvey Girls were employees of a restaurant chain called Harvey House Restaurants. A group of the girls embarked west on a train to a town called Sandrock where they got involved with the owner of a saloon and other misadventures.

In addition to Bolger, some of the actors who appeared in the movie were Cyd Charisse, Angela Lansbury, Marjorie Main and Chill Wills.
7. Which blond sex symbol was the star of "The Girl Can't Help It" in 1956?

Answer: Jayne Mansfield

Jayne Mansfield starred as a no-talent singer in "The Girl Can't Help It". Her mobster boyfriend wanted to get her into show business and hired an agent, played by Tom Ewell, to get her work. By the end of the film, Mansfield's character had fallen for the agent and wanted merely to settle down rather than be a singer. Of course the agent was terrified of the mobster.

The scenario established the groundwork for an amusing movie. The film also included 17 rock and roll numbers and has become a classic film vehicle for getting a snapshot of stars like Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps, Fats Domino and The Platters performing. Julie London also performed her signature song, "Cry Me A River". Tom Ewell had worked with Marilyn Monroe the previous year in "The Seven Year Itch".

The working title of the film was originally "Slammer", but Madonna changed the title to "Who's That Girl" and her song of the same name went to number one. Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt were two of the girls cast in the 1985 film, "Girls Just Want To have Fun". "The Beach Girls" was a 1982 film about two party girls who tried to bring their naive friend to the beach and loosen her up.
