Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Boys Don't Cry, "I Wanna Be A Cowboy." "Riding in the chuck wagon, following my man. His name is _____"

Answer: Ted

"Ted Ohhhh Ted, fighting off danger."
"My name is Ted, one day I'll be dead. Yo. Yo."
This campy song, that charted in 1986, had some great lyrics.
Boys don't cry was a British quintet consisting of Nick Richards, Nico Ramsden, Brian Chatton, Mark Smith, and Jeff Seopardi.
2. Cars, "You Might Think". "You might think I'm crazy, To hang around with you, Maybe you think I'm lucky ____________"

Answer: To have something to do

The video for this song featured Cars lead singer Ric Ocasek's future wife, Paulina Porizkova.
The Cars line up was Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkws, and David Robinson, in 1984 when this song was released
3. Jump 'N The Saddle, "The Curly Shuffle". "Well me and my friends love Curly and Moe We love Curly's brother ______ and his fat clone Joe It's such a delight to boogie and hustle Dancing all night doing the Curly shuffle" Name the missing stooge.

Answer: Shemp

"The Curly Shuffle", with all the Curly parts added in, is a really fun song to sing along to, if you don't mind looking a little silly.
This 1983 song was the only hit for this Chicago country-pop group.
4. Paul Hardcastle, "19" "In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war, but it wasn't It was different in many ways, as so were those that did the fighting In World War II the average age of the combat soldier was _____... In Vietnam he was 19" How old was the average WWII soldier?

Answer: 26

This is not a happy song, the statistics it quotes are staggering, and true. High suicide rates, high arrest rates, post traumatic stress disorder. There was no "When Johnny came marching home" for Vietnam vets, and this song brought that to peoples attention.
This 1985 song was the only hit for Paul Hardcastle. It reached number fif-fif-fifteen.
5. Travelling Wilburys, "End Of The Line". "Well it's all right, as long as you got somewhere to lay. Well it's all right, every day is___________"

Answer: Judgement Day

This song was written by George Harrison (Nelson/Spike Wilbury). With Roy Orbison and George Harrison gone now, we will probably not have any more great Wilbury's albums. Pity.
This is from "Traveling Wilburys Volume One" released in 1988.
6. Billy Joel, "We Didn't Start The Fire". "Wheel of Fortune, Sally Ride, Heavy Metal, Suicide Foreign debts, homeless vets, AIDS, crack, ________"

Answer: Bernie Goetz

Bernie Goetz was the person who shot three teens on a NY subway, in 1984, because he felt threatened. This made him a hero to some, and hated by others.
1989 saw Joel release this ode to recent history.
7. Scandal, "The Warrior" "Shooting at the walls of heartache, bang bang. I am the warrior. Well I am the warrior And___________________"

Answer: Heart to heart you'll win

Scandal, featuring Patty Smyth, had a hit with this, but I mostly remember it for the ultra-cheesy video.
Lead singer Patty Smyth married John McEnroe.
This song peaked at #15 in 1984.
8. Christopher Cross, "Sailing". "Well, it's not far down to paradise, at least it's not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away and find______"

Answer: Tranquility

Harmless Christopher Cross ballad that reached #1 in 1980.
9. Duran Duran, "The Reflex" "You've gone too far this time and I'm dancing on the _________"

Answer: Valentine

This song, by a band named after a character from the camp classic movie Barbarella, has lyrics that make absolutely no sense, but that didn't stop it from becoming their first US #1 in 1984.
10. Soft Cell, "Tainted Love" "Sometimes I feel I've got to Run away I've got to Get away From the pain that you drive into the _______"

Answer: Heart of me

Techno-pop duo Marc Almond and David Ball had a 1982 hit with this song first recorded in 1964 by Gloria Jones and recently remade by Marilyn Manson.
